What is your plan B if a disaster happen

Aside from making sure there is plenty of beer in the fridge / or makeshift cooler - I found that bringing the solar lights INSIDE was a great idea (stuck one in each room) - Plenty of light and a safer then candles ..............short term tip
  3. Thanks for all the positive feed back... It really was a great trip, that was very spontaneous and an adventure that just seemed to open the gates to many possibilities... I carried 2 cameras with me - in my tank bag a canon point and shoot G10 along with a canon D50 with a 10:20 lens - not great for catching wildlife but awesome for the scenic landscapes I knew I would be driving bye As we all know there are +/- to traveling alone the big + for me was being able to stop every 1000' for another picture and nobody waiting on me.....? One big secret is, I mailed back a box of stuff I was never going to use out of Mammoth about 13lbs of cold weather gear - was hesitant but ultimately the right decision If anyone is interested in the inventory let me know I would be more then happy to send along a check list - that seemed to work perfect for THIS trip Thanks again and look forward to many many more camping trips, or even a ride around the neighborhood..... riggerdan

    Traveling with a firearm

Hi I was trying to find some posts in the forums that contained this kind of information, and seemed to be a bit unsuccessful Taking a road trip on the motorcycle with a very optimistic long range destination / Glacier Park I would like to think I have survived all these years on good karma, though considering a firearm due to the vulnerability of traveling alone in remote areas.... camping and traveling is nothing new to me, though doing it dual sport style will be a first - of this magnitude Not entirely set on it, but has been on my mind the last few days Looking for some input / advice

    Traveling with a firearm

Did not mean for this to become a heated debate, just vision myself hanging out in my tent and hearing some unruly noises or on some predators menu.. Obviously done correctly there should be no issues As for being informed, I feel I am as informed as the average safety conscious firearm owner should be, - just thought I would seek some advice from people that have been doing a lot longer then me... Thanks for your input

    Always Be Prepared

Great idea.. I take about 3' or 4' of fluorescent GAFF tape and wrap it on a fat tip magic marker in addition to about 5' or 6' of electrical tape and some friction tape - possibly some reflective tape - great combo and the ability to leave an ( analog ) message as well - light weight and compact I use gaff at work tons of it ( pro gaff ) is my preference.... comes in many bright fluorescent colors as well - U-Line is a good source have about 50 rolls in the garage if anyone is interested needless to say, Orange is my favorite color..............
