    990 Tyres

Stock Scorpions I thought were great tires, got lots of mileage and felt great on pavement, and well not so great off road... 2nd set was the MEFO superexplorer tires - big difference, supposed to be big mileage tires (my lack of initial throttle control) seemed to give me only 2K out of them 3rd set 908RR biggest difference I have felt - still dealing with throttle control issues got about 2K out of those as well - wore through 90% of the tire on Utah trip------and yes slippery on pavement I have successfully been going to TCA /Throttle Control Anonymous lately, and feel another set of Dunlop's are on the horizon for me I have a brand new set of MEFOs in the garage if you are interested let me know - we could work something out

That looks like a stretch of pavement.......... Glad you are getting some quality time in with "BBB" - Big Beautiful Bike
  4. If you are on a KLR and you are fairly new to dual sport / off road, I suggest you get some generic trail / seat time in before trying to conquer the sand last I checked, the sand isn't going anywhere anytime soon obviously this IMHO I might be able to pull off a few hours on Tuesday if you would like to get out....? - Welcome to SDAR

    NO Flaming & Trolling

  11. +1 I think Bear Valley road is in great condition for entry level big bike riding those conditions will be compromised once the rains hit so get out there sooner than later its fairly close and very accessible / Pine Valley exit off the 8 20+ miles of riding there and back - more obviously if you look for it I would be happy to join you if interested I would agree that Otay is on the list as well, though as Paul mentioned it can be a little slippery so breaking and clutch skills come into play almost immediately the road up from Thousand Trails is in the best condition I have seen in a long time, but from the summit onwards can be loose and slippery
  12. Great to see many riders show up...... Another beautiful day in San Diego Heres a few random shots from the phone

I think they have to find a way to get the price down to about $3500.00 to sell more tan just a few. I will throw your stuff on the back of the 990 for $150 and free beer

  16. did not want to send off that kind of vibe from my response I think riding in Baja with a chase rig and the basics along with carrying your stuff is a no brainer for some people theres value in organization and safety

Chilly White-CDC on ADV Bike Obesity

Dont even know where to start.............. I had the choice of the 530 or 990 for this trip Last year at Bar10 I rode the 530 with a few extended days in utah with Strega & PB and truly enjoyed every minute of it (at least the riding part) Not knowing the condition of the trails or the crowd I was riding with initially, it made sense to ride the 530 I had already taken the 990 to Glacier Park at that point, with minimal aggressive riding experience and was still getting used to the bike and completely overwhelmed by its power one year later with of lots of training on the big bike I felt confident enough to take my chances Overall: if I were to do the trip again tomorrow, I would be pulling out the 990 for another run - no questions asked percentage wise (IMHO) 88% of was big bike friendly 11% you had to step it up a little and theres always the 1% of It was fun hearing over the radio the small bikes warning the big bikes of dangers ahead glad I was able to entertain here and there Just wish I was a little stronger cause when that bike goes down after a few hundred miles its gets heavy quick.... as CID was very patient with our departure from the river overlook........
  19. I think we all have that problem, I know I do...... Seems like every 100' is a different perspective and worth taking a picture never seem to have enough pictures when I get home from a trip the weather looked great and the trails look awesome Thanks for sending the tracks over..............................

    Cambodia

I totally hear ya The first time I was in Cambodia I have to admit, when the sun went down the hair on the back of my neck was feeling it......... nothing but dark and scary dirt roads, this trip was years later and a whole different experience Back then I met a kid who's whole family was taken down by the Khmer Rouge and grew up riding his bicycle making barely enough money to buy a motorbike and giving rides and running errands to barely stay alive I gave him a few bucks a day to just hang out and show me around a little, we ended up going to the Killing Fields together... needless to say it was one hell of an experience, witnessing an area where so many lives were taken it was heart breaking, nothing but massive burial ditches in the ground...and a big glass tower full of thousands of human skulls To go back a few years later meant a lot to me, for some reason to overcome the fears I once felt about this country ……On a brighter note this trip allowed me more interaction of the local customs and witness the good-hearted people that make this country so beautiful… here's a few more random pictures…… hope you enjoy
