    Ride 5/13

I can do 4:30 or later.
  2. Haven't see this bike before. Is this a good bike and good price? KTM 620
  3. Socalhodka, your first link is not correct. I appreciate all suggestions for doing it myself, and indeed I would like to go this route but I was looking for someone who has a bit of experience to prevent a complete screw over. Sounds like it is time to give dirtdame a call!
  4. Looks good to me. Unfortunately can't do it tomorrow. Sunday may work or next week. Zafar

    snakes

Saw it two weeks ago on the loop around Lake Miramar. It ran away so fast that this is the best I could do.

    Your thoughts?

  8. In a sense, this helps a little to know that the driver was DUI. It restores belief in common people's motor skills and that people in their right mind do not go around running over motorcycles and other people.
  9. I work in Sorrento valley. It is possible for me on most days to take a long lunch and go riding. I can spend 2-3 hours. Anyone interested? We can hit back roads as far as Ramona. I would like to go off-road where possible, but this is definitely not for desert (would be too far).

    Riding Classes

Here is Motorcycle Safety Foundation (http://saferide4u.com/registration.html) If you live North County, there is another course offered by wither the CSU or a college in San Marcos.
  11. I can do longer rides, but everyone's schedule is different. A meetup would be a start. Can meet in SV Food court (north side of Mira Mesa is quieter).
  12. Not sure if it is the right topic for this forum, but here is a sad news. 3 Phoenix motorcycle riders killed in truck crash http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...dI4j0wD9ELVG5G0
  13. Like here. Passengers in the car as well as motorcyclist were killed. Another accident a few years ago
  14. If you weave through stopped traffic, and come to the front at stop light, where would you stop if the light is still red? Is it OK to stop with a car already in a lane? cali law says lane splitting is legal in traffic and at lights. my experience is that it is safer in the long run. whether im in traffic or at a stop light i think if im stuck in the middle of cars and im mired in traffic i am vulnerable being surrounded by cages. but if i split lanes then i am controling MY environment. im watching the cars as IM passing them and i can move with them if they move over. if im surrounded THEY are in control of my space. same at lights, if i split thru, when the light turns green i accellerate away quicker than the cars then i am out again controlling my surroundings not being submerged in THEIR world waitin for one of them to do something stupid. some people disagree but i have been street riding almost 30years and this has worked for me....so far :lazy:

Really like the slider on right and how it turns to color when selected. Is this custom flash?

    M1 endorsement

Public safety classes are usually pretty full, so you need to reserve space in advance. That is the course which will give you dl389 certificate and waive driving test requirement. http://www.saferide4u.com/ Carguy is one of the instructors there. He was my instructor last week and it was a blast. I almost failed for going out of lane (you call those red pucks, cones!).

    Insane

I don't think that this video is in fast motion. Considering that other vehicles on road are going at normal speeds and this guy is whizzing past, this is FAST! Very stupid though as he endangered all the other drivers on the road, not just himself.
  18. Somebody's insurance should be paying that.
  19. Hello everyone The way I understand it is that dual-sports are supposed to be street legal dirt bikes. However there are plenty of dual-sports which are the other way around (mainly street bikes with offroad capabilities). Given that, how suitable would supermoto be for off road, dirt tracks (since they are designed to be street bikes)? The reason I ask is that I can find a couple of good deals on supermoto bikes, and so I am tempted to buy one. Would it be possible to use supermotos (with their smaller front wheel) on dirt tracks. I am not looking to run a race or win a championship, just something that works well and is easy to handle.
  20. Thanks for all the updates. After switching the wheels (and taking care of suspension), it does not look like a great deal (which is why I was considering supermoto in the first place). However I like the comment above to get a smaller tire for DS and switch back and forth. That would be triple-sport As for having different bikes for different purpose, this is not practical for me. For one thing I don't have the money (or the space) to keep all these bikes. Nor do I have a truck to haul non-highway worthy dirt bikes. Supposing I had the truck, I would also need a driver to drive the truck while I ride my cruiser to the dunes

Hi My name is Zafar. I 42 years old and live in central San Diego. I work in the computer software field. I recently became interested in motorcycles as a way to explore back roads and other trails. I am an avid photographer and really look forward to exploring new places. (Check my photo stream http://www.flickr.com/photos/zafar1 I am still considering my first bike purchase from all the options in dual sports. I have read much about the desert trails around San Diego, I would be interested in learning more about forest and beach (or near-beach) trails in southern California.
