  1. I have a conflict w/ the dates so can't attend but do you publish the route afterward for those of us who would like to check out the route? I understand not doing so in advance so you don't have poachers. Thanks! pyrate

oh, for the curves. Yes, that makes sense. I thought you meant for the flat sections. I will take a look. The seat has a pencil sized hole on the size down close to my knee/thigh are at on the seat. Just sort of unsightly but not critical right now. I was going to patch it with a tire patch if it was problematic until I could replace it. Thanks again. I have a pneumatic staple gun and some adhesive spray so I am probably good once I find the material. Thanks again.

  5. If you have ever read Overland Journal this might be something you are interested in. Modeled after similar type events in Europe and other parts of the world, Overland Expo has their 2nd event this April in Arizona. This is not just for the 4x4 enthusiast either, but Rawhyde Adventures will be there conducting riding seminars. Lois Pryce (Lois on the Loose) is scheduled to attend as well. Vendors for adventure luggage and such are scheduled to appear as well. I am not affiliated with the event but am keenly interested in going and thought there might be others who would be too. http://www.ovexpo.com/Home.html pyrate

It's a bit different from most dirt bike seats but not impossible. I will look around to see if I can find similar fabric. Thanks.
  7. Poked a hole in my seat on my BMW F650GS Dakar while out in Joshua Tree last Friday. Anyone know of a good upholstery shop in the San Diego area that understands m/c seats? Thanks!!

It's not a challenge....it's just more $$ :boredom: - Go buy City Navigator NT software........the software that comes resident in the 60CSx is relatively useless...... As always.... Any sample of what the City Navigator NT software looks like? Has anyone ever found a store that actually has the software loaded on a computer and GPS and will show you what it looks like vs some stupid picture on a box? What is best to buy, the DVD, micro SD or download it? Thanks!

Hoss, If you're finished with this video, and you still have it, I'd like to have a gander at it. I just picked up a 60CSx. I picked up some video at REI about how to use this GPS. $20. IMO - it sucked. It is an aftermarket company but since REI carried it (they usually have good stuff) I tried it. Basically it was an overview of functions and nothing more. I have used my gps and prior gps versions for sailing with no issues. My challenge I think is getting the right map software. I am using the Mapsource (?) software that was provided with my unit and it works for main roads but very little for dirt tracks unless I am just missing something. I can find more on my CA atlas than that software. I am not quite understanding it either when you put in a destination and it gives you the bird's route, not an actual route via roads. To give an example, I live in Point Loma, I put in Disneyland just to see what it would show and the 1st 50+ miles were routed through the Pacific Ocean. Maybe I need to see the Garmin version if you think it is more detailed. I thought I had already posted some info on the nOOb section. I will see if I can find it. Let me know if you think the video really helps what I am trying to do. Thanks!

If anyone is a REI member, they are having a class at the SD REI store on 6/25/09 for GPS. The provide a unit if you don't have your own. I think it is $30 for members, $50 for non members. 2.5 hours starting at 6PM and reservation required. http://www.rei.com/rei/outdoorschool/SDG/sdggpsbasic.jsp

This be my ride. Just returned from Mammoth and Yosemite. Been in SD 17 years now and just getting back to the dirt. From MI originally where even if you had a road bike you had to be ready for dirt and sand or snow at any moment. No worries on the support of the community. I get it. Sorry it took so long for me to respond. I didn't realize my notification settings were using two tin cans and a string to advise that someone else had added to this post. Plus - I was out riding last week!
