I'm planning on taking a spin Sat morning
City Slicker replied to Crawdaddy's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
SDAR is awesome! I needed info about trails in Idyllwild so I used the search pane and it brought me to this write. Great description of the ride with good directions. We only rode the Mt Thomas part this weekend, but we will go back to do the rest of it. I can't believe I never knew about Idyllwild trails before now. Thanks Crawdaddy for laying out a great route. This was my son's first ride on his Dakar on dirt and he did great. IMG_4488.MOV -

Thanks Carguy. Now I need a bunch more East County votes. Please pass the word to all your friends and once I get elected, let's have a SDAR event at the Capitol. Brian -

Be careful if you are using clip in's. They pin your foot and mess up your knee. Set them up loose if you are using them. I broke by KHS in Sep and just got in the shop. I'll be up for a ride after I get it fixed. ACL- been there three times. Never from a bike.

Dakar "trail" ride (ultimate DS ride)
City Slicker replied to robertaccio's topic in Upcoming Organized or Promoted Rides and Events
How much is that in real dollars? -
Very well said KLRoger. In addition, we are all victims as tax payers when we have to pay for emergency room services, homeless services, rehabilitation services, child protective services, and other services that suck money out of the public coffers that could go to pay for more positive things like...recreational areas.

If I listened to that music while riding, I would be able to make those jumps too... NOT!! I could dump it in the creek though.... -

A couple of people have been asking about the new BMW F800GS. Here is a very extensive video review. The scenery is great too- Moab and Southwestern CO. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455509 The videos are kind of long...I fast forwarded through part of them. The bike got a good review and I know where you can get one.

Some friends of mine want me take them on road ride on Sunday to Julian. I presume by the time we get there around noon all the restaurants will be busy. Are there any good restaurants (burger joint is fine) nearby (within 20 miles) that may not be as crowded? How about Santa Ysabel Casino? Thanks for your help.

I think a lot of people just use the race as an excuse to be lazy. Lazy and in a race...who'd a thunk it, but I believe it.

These are really smart pirates...uh, I don't think so. "Abdullahi Lami, one of the pirates holding the Greek ship anchored in the Somali town of Gaan, said: "Every country will be treated the way it treats us. In the future, America will be the one mourning and crying," he told The Associated Press. "We will retaliate (for) the killings of our men." Jamac Habeb, a 30-year-old self-proclaimed pirate, told the AP from one of Somalia's piracy hubs, Eyl, that: "From now on, if we capture foreign ships and their respective countries try to attack us, we will kill them (the hostages)." "Now they became our number one enemy," Habeb said of U.S. forces."

The Magnificent Seven Ride the Trans America Trail
City Slicker replied to KTMrad's topic in 4 Days & Longer Trip Write-Ups and Photos
Randy, Great job. I'm really enjoying your write up. I grew up in Pueblo CO and I have travelled in these areas with my dad. He and I went over Cinnamon Pass a couple of years ago and had a great time. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story.
