  1. I could be interested in a trip out to Lark Canyon... that i have done twice now and feel pretty comfortable with. I am not sure where Inkopah is, but i could be up for that if its not too difficult - i am still getting my bearings in the dirt... I will keep an eye on the post and let you know as the week shapes up.

there are easy trails there, but they do have sand. The terrain is like lark canyon. I've updated the first post with time and place, let me know.

255 hits and not a single taker? Is it the green sticker or no one wants to ride with a new rider? Im gonna go up to northern california this weekend and visit family since there isn't any interest in riding.

I know all the trails trails out in jacumba area like the back of my hand, I just haven't done em on a bike yet. I'll post up again once I've done the trails and am sure I won't hold up the pace... And hopefully I'll have a plated bike that isn't a rolling death trap by then :)

  3. Ill try again with a little more notice this time. This is for the 29th. The inkopah area might be a bit challenging for me, but I'm down to try and make it up the mountain and maybe all the way to the mine. There are easier trails on the north side of the 8 near table mountain that we could ride or we could go to lark canyon too depending on interest.

If you want to haul ass this is NOT the ride for you. I am a slow poke, but can go a little faster on my 250 so that is what I plan on riding. GREEN STICKER>

How about 9:30 at Inkopah exit at visitors sign: Ready to ride by 10.

    Map here:

    inkopah

take I-8 to inkopah exit and get off, turn right onto old hwy80 and head back the direction you came about 300yards until you see the sign on the dirt lot on your left. There is a red arrow on the offramp, and a big dirt spot on the map which is the parking/meeting spot.

  4. just reading through this post and thought I'd add my two cents on dropping down from Inkopah (jacumba area) down to the desert. there is an old stage coach road and there is also a trail that runs along I-8 called devil's canyon. I've been on both of the trails in a jeep. Both of them are pretty hardcore in a truck. Devils canyon is one tough trail. You guys might want to google it and have a look at the photos you find and maybe the brave could try and tackle it. Optional bypass would be I8.

Alot of us have been from Jacumba to Mountain springs, do you know a diffferent route to the desert floor???

Yes, if I recall correctly, you can take a trail on the north side of the 8 around INKOPAH that heads up towards table mountain. Instead of going towards table mountain, you head east towards mountain sring, notice I said mountain spring not mountain springs. They are two different places on two different sides of the freeway. I'm not sure if you can cross under the 8 to mountain springs, but if you can, then you can get on the devils canyon trail and that will drop you out in the dessert, if you can make it through the trail that is.

    Heres the pics I found:

  6. Not enough students, I can RIDE. 3 Days off, where/when should we ride???:blink::angry:

hey carguy, I'm down to go ride with you one day next weekend. I'd be interested in a long distance laid back ride up at high elevation to avoid the heat if possible. Let me know. I left CC before the night ride last weekend but would be interested in doing some of those trails. Let me know what you thingk.

  7. ^ right on, my main hold up is my bike. Its a total piece of crap. The brake light doesn't work and it hickups once I get above 60MPH. If brake light is required thats pretty much a deal breaker for me. I'll have a new bike in a month or two, for now I'm stuck riding dirt during the day... or drinking rum...

Riding during the day and drinking rum isn't too bad of a life. Brake light should be an easy fix, and the hiccups sounds like a carb issue. I'm willing to look at it if you are close to me, and if I'm not I'm sure someone is who would give you a hand.

When you get a new bike, I have someone that may be interested in your old POS also.

I'm pretty close, just north on 125 exit navajo... There is more to it than a busted bulb. There is no AC coming off the stator. Only the ignition circuit is hot. I don't want to pay for a new stator, I'd rather get a new bike at this point. I've already replaced a bunch of crap on the bike(I got it off a friend who didn't want to be bothered by it). Now its my POS. Its runs fairly well for a 200$ bike....

  8. I'm gonna be out at corral canyon on Saturday and will at least come by and say whats up before you take off at 4 corners (if that is the meeting spot). I might even cruise with you for a little bit, but my xt600 doesn't do too good above 60MPH and I'm a new rider and don't want to slow down the pace.. I'll see if my riding buddy wants to camp out and maybe we'll check you guys out at CC after the ride too.

  9. I've been 4 wheeling those trails for a long time now. I know all of the routes. I'd join you guys, but I'd prabably slow ya down too much since I'm new to riding. Some of those trails are a bit too much for a beginner. If you guys want some good maps of the area I could send post em up. There are two trails that go up to the valley of the moon. One is the one shown above and there is another that goes up from the west just north of the road that runs along the boarder. The pics from last week looked liked you guys hit both trails.

There is also alot of trails that are still open near table mountain, you just have to know which way to go. I suspect you guys tried to go off to the left instead of going straight. You can do about 10 miles back there on the north side of the 8 behind table mountain and it takes you all the way into AB park and gives some great views of the tresstles in corrizo gorge. I'll get up on my skills and come when it cools down.

    Have fun.

  10. Will and Steve was good riding with you.

I've been out at pine valley every weekend for the last 3 weeks and each time the weather has been pretty mild for mid summer. I will try and setup a date in a month or so for camping in corral canyon. I've got to take a break from riding for a minute, my ttr has a leaky fork that I don't want to deal with. And the XT600 has a hole in the side of the motor that needs to be welded shut.

  11. Great to see you guys coordinating a ride together B)B) The new member forum hasn't had much activity lately so if you get a chance go post a little introduction of yourselves. You'll be amazed at the welcomes you receive :P Stick around and check-on often because the most experienced guys and gals here are always looking for new people to ride with at any experience level B)

I'll be in Jacumba tomorrow morning, otherwise I'd come and ride with you... Have fun! B)

Well, we are looking at riding Sunday so you could ride both days if you wanted B)

  12. Anyone want to go for an easy dirt ride this weekend. I am a beginer and just want to take some easy trails. I've been to pine valley a few times and can cruise on that trail pretty good. I'd join the crowd out in Jacumba, but I've 4 wheeled out there and some of those trails are out of my league. Let me know, I'm open to pretty much any time this weekend.

    Hey Man:

I am not very experienced off-road myself--although my trusty KLR 650 is a daily commuter on the street. My roommate has an XR 600. He's more experienced than I am, but it's been awhile since either of us has ridden off-road.

Are you able to ride this Sunday? What do you ride?

    Peace,

    Will

Like I said anytime this weekend should work for me. I have a yamaha TTR250 green stickered bike and a 1989 yamaha XT600 that is pretty beat down but is reliable enough to ride. I could take either.

Do you want to meet at pine valley exit around 9AM on Sunday?
