  1. I would be in on this in a minute if I hadn't already I installed all three products. I posted a thread on this with pictures in a related thread. Not to belabor the discussions that come up in relation to Christian Parker and his Rottweiler products, and Sporting Woods products, but it is my opinion that SW has knocked off his concept in relation to the intake, and is about to knock off the snap out and doghouse, per his ADVrider posts. Given what I know from spending a fair amount of time at Chris's shop in Costa Mesa, CPR Fabrications, seeing his molds and tooling and taking a close look at the custom filters he has created (thought they do look similar, they are different), and now come in KTM orange!, I beleive Chris is a real pro and a damn good guy. When he says he will spend his time helping with install and mapping, he really means it. He runs his performance shop with he and his wife and it feels good to support guys like him, CJ designs, Woodys wheel works, slavens, etc.

    Rottweiler KTM 990 mods

As far as the air filter setup goes Christian hasn't done anything new, it is copied from automotive racing setups. Competition is good, I can't speak for the filter material but I think the Sportingwood base plate appears to be a better design. As far the the other items it is a bummer to create, design and produce a product that cost wise isn't worth the money to patent just to have some one copy it. Whatever, is this instance it is pretty evident. I don't think modifying a concept from auto racing, or other types of bikes is "copying." Isn't everything? Funny that he has been at the adventure expos with CJ Designs, Black Dog, Touratech, etc., and they haven't copied his stuff, just this guy. But thank you for taking my post on a tangent.

The Rottweiler kit (which is the original) is more- about 30%, I think. But better filter media, I think. The sporting wood stuff is not the same filter materials/density. My only objection to his products is that he has copied what Christian has done, and is soon to offer a "snap out" and "dog house" knock off. With the 1190 coming along, the intakes will require a different design which should put a cramp in his ability to copy. I have spent some time in OC with Chris and he is a great guy.
  5. That looks like a great trip. I am planning to do some riding with a few 990 guys from OC , you should get in on it!
  6. I was looking to make some changes to my 2007 990 adventure and came across some really ingenious products made in SoCal. Added around 10 hp with the Rottweiler intake system, and recently did an overnight with the luggage system and it works like a charm. Have plans to get a Rottweiler exhaust soon from Chris Parker at CPR fabrications (.com) and really get my bike screaming :)/> Here is a link to the write up,and pictures on ADVrider: My link

All I know is that my 990 is really good off road and will put it to the test on the UTBDR this summer.

  13. PM George he is "Suspenders" on this site.
  14. First of all I'd like to say thanks to George Spinali (Suspenders) at Suspension101. I took my shock and forks, from my new to me 2007 KTM 450 SX-F, in for a complete overhaul. The forks were so harsh when I got the bike that I was having trouble holding on to the bike, the shock felt ok to me. After 3 trips to the vet track at Pala, I had had enough. George was willing and ready to let me watch and learn every step of the process, however, once I saw what was involved, and what was inside, of the shock, I let go of that real quick. The KTM shock has a lot of shims and parts, and what was really neat was seeing them laid out and seeing that some of the shims were bent. George researched the setup, ordered the parts, and had it all back together in about a week, a really quick turnaround considering the amount of work that went into new system. I have now tested and made multiple adjustments in 3 more trips to Pala, and I think I have gotten close to the right settings for me. I am not a great rider, but I do have good feel after many years of two-wheeled sports. The new setup really is nice, and I feel that now it is just a matter of me getting better and more familiar with the bike, which is all I can ask. If you are in need of any suspension work, I highly recommend George, he is a great guy and did great work on my bike. Here's a few from the vet track at Pala yesterday afternoon, very few people out there, it was great:
  15. I am planning on Friday morning as well. Get there when I get there.
