Thanks guys for the Desert Dash IV.

I was running in the Adelanto GP on Saturday, so only got to do day 2, but it's always a fun ride.

I was out there again on Friday with a group of GS riders with RawHyde, camping in Borrego Springs, and they wanted to go see something called "The Squeeze" and "The Dropoff". I said OK, it's your funeral, and took them basically on the Day 2 ride ! (starting from the middle, of course) They passed on the Badlands/Fonts Point/Inspiration Point becoz they were too exhausted by the time we hit Split Mountain Road out of Fish Creek Wash.

One DRZ with us fell after just turning on Montezuma (I forget that trails name) and broke his Fibula (it turned out).

Took us a while to get everyone through The Squeeze, as they wanted hands on the saddlebag mounts [ KTM's included ! ]

Then getting them up the step before The Dropoff was difficult as well. Some pushing and pulling.

I had to ride a few GS's down The Dropoff myself for those "not up for it"

The V-Strom's clutch was mis-adjusted, and so he couldn't get up the final rock face climb, so 6 of us had to pull it up.

A 950 Adv rider overshot the top of the rock face climb and landed in the bushes/cactii off the left. Only his was pride hurt :D

Then a slow crawl out of Fish Creek as they'd "had enuff sand" by now ! (just as the roll chart asked)

Saturday morning I took a 950 Enduro (??) through the Badlands (coz he wanted to run the fast wash) and 5-Palms. After lunch, we all went to Fonts Point, and were supposed to go to 17 Palms. I took Short Wash/Ella Wash and waited for them at the campground entrance. But after 15 minutes they hadn't come along. So I went to 17 Palms and waited another 45 minutes, and they STILL hadn't come along. I went back and did Inspiration Point again, and found them back at the campsite. They couldn't find the campground entrance for 17 Palms, so rode Ella/Short.

Yep that was me.

Thanks for the compliment !

But when you wanted to (when we met that Ranger coming the other way), you left me behind, NO PROBLEMS !

So I hope I wasn't holding you up too much :)

Roxus, now those GS riders know what desert riding is all about....since you took them through miles of sand :)

Were there many local riders on that Rawhyde Event ?

If any of them are still interested in riding off-road locally, tell them to check this site. Mad Mike and UncleCameron both ride GS1200's, and Mike also rides an old R-100GS.

On the Desert Dash, you missed a friend of mine, Kevin, who rode an HP-2 all day Saturday. You guys were the only HP-2's on the DD.

Yeah there were a couple of locals.

One from Toronto, Indiana, Illinois as well.

A few from the Bay Area.

I'll let the locals know....
