Eastlake to Julian

Recommended Posts

Everything went as planned. No mishaps.

SD Frontier, Mikey B, and myself (2 Wheels) met in Eastlake. Mikey B pulled up in a nice KTM950. Someone had PM'd me a question about finding the meeting place, so we waited a few minutes for stragglers.

After our short wait for stragglers and lurkers, we rode to the AM-PM in Jamul and found rwynant and Jon O waiting there. Then we rode to Santa Ysabel where we had lunch, split up and then went home our separate ways. That's about the long and the short of it.

This picture is Boulder Creek Road from last week. That's Cuyamaca Peak in the background.

After lunch in Santa Isabel, I retraced our steps on Boulder Creek Road. On my way back on Boulder Creek Road, I found a KLR650 stopped by the side of the road with a couple standing around next to it so I stopped to see if they needed any help. They were OK, they said, but they were trying to tighten up the tension on the rear shock. They said it was riding too low with two people and luggage on it. It might be easy to do, but I wasn't able to help them with that. I wished one of the KLR guys would have been there.

I talked to them for a few more minutes, and it turned out they were trying to get to Joshua Tree National Monument by Sunday night. I left wondering whether they'd make it, but they'll remember their trip no doubt.

Viejas Casino from Viejas Grade Road. The farthest mountain in the middle of the pic is Mount San Miguel.

If anyone's interested in doing this ride sometime, there's some more information about the route and some more pics in my post from last week. http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=725
