christi20 0 Posted August 19, 2010 What a great event, Johnny. A bit too long for me, but I will support with a donation.
JohnnyAirtime 2 Posted August 27, 2010 Thanks Christi... I know it's long, but you can always jump in your chase vehicle for a 'leg' or two. Let me add to the news of the event, and what some of you might be more interested in reading; Some of you may or may not know Corky Behrle, known to many as simply "Corky". Corky is a well known, and very established Baja enthusiast, rider, and heck of a good guy. You'll also often know him by the miles he's put in up here in the States on his bike, or simply from him offering up himself and his big white Van as race support. He has been battling Cancer himself over the past year(s). Sadly, it's weakened him... and although his battle seems to be doing well, he's decided to offer his collections of motorcycles and motorcycle parts... to the Cancer Ride. Let me explain; Corky has not ONE, but up to 4, 5 or even 6 motorcycles he'll be offering up for auction, or raffle for this Cancer Ride!!! Some (if not all) of the parts, and motorcycles will be photographed and noted for this event. I have yet to decide how we'll auction, or raffle the items and I'm working with Corky on how this will work out (between auction/raffle and delivery of items)... but at this point, I want you all to pass the word... and you, yourselves to get out your wallets. Dig deep... and help this auction/raffle be a huge success. Show Corky, and the Cancer Ride... we can raise LOTS of money to help support the fight against Cancer... and Childrens Cancer!! I want to personally thank Corky for such a HUGE offer, and donation to the cause. In my travels, and meeting Corky... he's always been a positive and spirited man. It's an honor to be involved with such an event, and even more so with people like Corky. Hats off to you Corky!! You are truly an inspiration. Stay tuned.... more info will be coming out on the website (www.Cancer-RideForLife.com) and on the forum board(s). Thanks, Cancer Ride For Life
JohnnyAirtime 2 Posted August 30, 2010 Hello all... This year, we've had a slower response to the donation side of the event. JohnnyAirtime 2 Posted September 20, 2010 I thought I'd announce... publicly, on Thumpertalk, and here... That the man we all know as "Corky" has been going through some tough times, battling the ailment we all know as Cancer. Through this tough time, he's made some choices. Tough choices I'm sure, as it would be for anyone in his position and condition. Sad as it is, there's some light at the end of that tunnel. Corky is one heck of a man and has decided to contribute his vast collection of dirt bikes to the Cancer-Ride For Life event which in itself, was started to help fight Children's Cancer. Read more about the event, here; http://www.Cancer-RideForLife.com If your interested more in helping out who I call "Baja Corky"... real name, Corky Behrle... or the event, the Ebay auctions for his dirt bikes will start this coming Friday, the 24th at 8am. They are as listed (remember, links won't work until Friday at 8am); '81 PW50- http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=120624142006 '85 XT350- http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=120624138511 '93 XT350- http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=120624130411 '82 XR100- http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=120624127114 '85 XR350-1 http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=120624123720 '85 XR350-2 http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=120624113020 '85 XR350-3 http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=120624119212 Thanks for your time, JAT
JohnnyAirtime 2 Posted September 22, 2010 CRITICAL DATE NOTICE: We are almost down to the last available time to sign up for the ride. ... don't delay if your thinking of joining the fun, and the ability to contribute to a great cause. Cut off date is 10/11/2010, as I'll be reserving all rooms, ordering all shirts/stickers and finalizing the details at that time. :UPDATE: We also now have a Discussion FORUM (see bottom of any menu on any Cancer Ride page) Register today, and be a part of the discussions. No need to be a part of the event. Come on over and talk it up! I hope we have some people cleaning out their couches, breaking open their piggy banks, and offering up some last minute contributions. So far, we've BEATEN last year's contribution amount of $4100 (post ride, I'll announce total contributions)!!! Don't forget, you can also order a t-shirt, or Hoodie to show your support; Thanks to everyone thus far, for their pledges. We couldn't have done it without you, and your efforts. Who says the economy is in the dumps?! You all showed me otherwise!! (even though I'm still unemployed, and about to make a tri-fold cardboard sign) Pass it on!! The more people who know about this, the better we support the cause!! Thanks, Johnny www.Cancer-RideForLife.com

JohnnyAirtime 2 Posted October 20, 2010 Just thought I'd toss this out there, as I'll be posting it officially on the website once we return home... We've reached and exceeded our contribution goal of $10,000 !!! (with all of the costs, fees, and such that go along with this event and the website... we're just about able to write a check for $10K. I hope we can make that happen DURING the event at our group dinner and by raising just enough to cover those costs. Or there's still time to make it happen, send in your donations!!) .... I'm so stoked to be a part of so many giving people, and such a great cause. It's something that brings a smile to my face, and I hope it does all of yours as well. I'll see about getting pictures of the donation itself once it happens. It'll take place once we return home from the event and attend a meeting with the Optimist Foundation.
