KLR650 0 Posted January 23, 2007 I just bought my first bike and am wondeing what the regulations are for parking a motorcycle. I have seen alot of bike's parked on the sidewalk. Is this legal or should you stick to actual parking spaces? What about downtown? Do you have to find a meter and feed it like a car? Thanks for any information. bikeslut 1 Posted January 23, 2007 The DMV has a WebSite... but I am lazy, so i will give you urban applications of the vehicle code, as they pertain to me; which is really THE standard I live by... Parking on the sidewalk is never OK... and yet people get away with it all the time. Other "not OKs" that bikes seem to get away with sometimes... riding between double double yellows that separate a HOV lane from the #1 lane... parking in the "false islands" that are sometimes at the ends of a row of parked cars...parking in a bicycle rack If you are "sharing" a metered space, and it is NOT expired, why would they care?... If it IS expired, they will ticket BOTH of you.
