San Diego Off-Road Coalition Update

· The September/October issue of The Endangered Off-Roader is now available on our Web site

· Camping Cookbook! To help raise money to fight to keep public land open for OHV recreation, SDORC will publish a camping cookbook. Once published we will be selling the books for $10.00. The books will be available at off-road shows and various other events. We are asking off-roaders to send in their favorite outdoor camping recipes; recipes that are easy to make outdoors, or to make at home and take with you. Please include your name and where you live, and send to Jan Chaney at jangeraghty@cox.net. We need them as soon as possible. We would like to go to press October 31, 2007.

· SDORC has designed items with the SDORC logo for people to purchase. Go to www.zazzle.com and search for "San Diego Off-Road Coalition" to see what is available. Select from an assortment of shirts, mouse pads, tote bags, key chains, magnets, stickers and coffee mugs, and SDORC receives 7% of your purchase price to help keep your riding areas open.

The shirts should be customized to add your name. If you click on "Customize it" you may see warnings indicating that the images are larger than originally designed and may not reproduce well. You may safely ignore those messages; the shirts print beautifully. If you have any questions please contact Jan Chaney at jangeraghty@cox.net.

· We need help distributing flyers for our "Lost Lizard Fun Run" (www.sdorc.org/fun_run_flyer.pdf) to off-road stores around the San Diego area. If you can help, please contact our Fun Run Chairman Dennis Baker at 619.442.2692 for details.

· Help SDORC at events! One of the most important things that SDORC does is participate as vendors at various off-road events. We are able to educate the public regarding OHV issues, and raise money by signing up new members and selling products such as raffle tickets, shirts, etc. But in order to do this successfully we need several volunteers at each event.

The first such event is this Wednesday the 26th. SDORC has been invited to participate in a "Safety Stand-Down" at a local military base. Our role will be to pass along vital information that off-roaders are required need to know in California. Since many of our military are from out of state, they may be unaware of the rules, regulations, and legal battles we face regarding motorized recreation. This is a rare opportunity to reach out to our military forces and educate them on our legal and safety issues. Please call SDORC Director of Community Events, Denise Jones, at 619.252.0463.

Next comes the Championship Off Road Race (CORR) race this weekend, the 29th & 30th, in Chula Vista (www.corracing.com). This is not only an opportunity to help out SDORC, but also to watch some great racing! Contact SDORC Vice President Scott Hillier at 619.390.5631.

Finally, one of the biggest off-road events of the year is the Off Road Expo at the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona (www.offroadexpo.com) October 6 & 7. The following table shows who we have when, and where we need more volunteers. Please call SDORC Director of Community Events, Denise Jones, at 619.252.0463.
