Good Auto shop for Tires in North County?

I've been real happy with discount tires as well. It's the first place I think of. Regarding auto work I take all my vehicles to Allen's Auto, Inc. in Vista 760-945-0778. He's always busy, but can always get my cars in right away and fixed within hours and very HONEST and reasonable on price. Can't say enough about him, highly recommend him.

    whats your line of work?

WORK: - I wish! I'm currently LOOKING FOR WORK. I was laid off back in August from a company that sold software to loan officers. It's been real tough, I was real close to getting picked up at Qualcomm in October, but didn't get it. I want to stay in I.T. but getting to the point that I may have to take any job for now. Watching too much CNN on the doom and gloom of the economy. But...I'll just keep plugging away. I have more than 12 years experience in I.T. as a technical support analyst. Most of that experience has been mainly with large scale companies i.e. Hughes Aircraft and Computer Sciences Corporation along with a few other smaller companies. I also worked as a Realtor for about 6 years and I was a paramedic for a couple of years, couldn't pay the bills and moved on. Riding: I've been riding almost all my life. My first bike was a 1975 YZ80 then CR250,CR480,RM250,YZ250,VTX1300 cruiser, YZ426, VT750 cruiser and now a DRZ400S. I'm sure I left a few bikes out. Started racing motocross when I was 18 for a couple years. I also raced a couple of D38 desert races. I did a little 4-wheeling(Rock Crawling)in Los Coyotes Indian reservation a few years back, that was a lot of fun, never thought I could get an adrenaline rush going 5 mph. I was also really into BMX as a kid and then later Mountain biking. MTBing was a huge passion of mine and really miss it, just don't seem to have the time to consistently ride anymore. Real excited about going on some dual sport rides, only done a few but none with the group yet. (soon!) My blog (work in progress)
  7. Don't mean to be a downer, just a reminder, that although as fun as riding can be, please always think of safety first, as I know we all do. Part of the fun of riding, for me anyways is pushing the envelope but not over the edge. Accidents happen and unfortunately sometimes result in death. I didn't know him well, but the news impacted me profoundly, I believe I rode with him a couple of years ago, good kid, excellent rider. Makes you want to hug your kids that much harder. I have a ten year old daughter that's been riding for 4 years now, she does great, very cautious, which I like, but I don't leave her side when we go on runs. OW has changed a lot over the years, and unfortunately it's not uncommon to go out there on a big weekend and see ambulances and helicopters all over. Please pray for his family and friends. Here's an excerpt from online newspaper: 08:15 AM PST on Monday, December 1, 2008 A 22-year-old Menifee man was killed in an off-roading accidents Saturday, according to reports from the Riverside county coroners' offices. Troy Bentley Thompson, 22, of Menifee, fell from his motorcycle while attempting a large jump in the Shell Reef area of Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area in San Diego County about 1:48 p.m., according to the Riverside County coroner's office. Thompson was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
  8. Nope, I had ordered food. Capt. and I were both passed out on the couch while the wive's were yacking about New Year's plans. They left about 9 since we couldn't keep our eyes open. Turns out that a guy died on Shell Reef Saturday. Probably in one of the medevac choppers or ambulances we saw. Yep he was camped with our group. I didn't really know him, rode with him once a few years ago. http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.p...ic=3549&hl=

    Happy Birthday DRZinger

Thanks you young whipper snapper! too bad at some point part of our riding gear will be "depends under garments" It's funny how my definition of old keeps changing. I remember when I thought 30 was old. Now 50 still seems semi-young.
  12. Hi everyone! It's a official I'm a MEMBER! I've been browsing through the site for a few weeks now. I really wanted to go on the 10/25 ride up to Idyllwild... the pics are great it looks like it was a lot of fun. I had an interview that Monday and decided to prepare for it, plus I wasn't a member yet. (next time) I'm not sure how I classify myself. I've been riding since I was about 12, I grew up riding in Ocotillo Wells, raced a bit at Carlsbad raceway, Saddleback, OC raceway, 117 and a couple of Dist 38 out at Plaster city. and my has-been claim to fame San Diego supercross back in 1982. (ok, it was the amateur race on Sunday following the pros but still I got to race on a SX track) If I ever race again I might go for vintage racing, maybe buy an old Maico or RM who knows. I'm really excited about doing some rides with all types of terrain i.e. mountains, boulders, single track etc. You look like a great group of riders with all types of riding abilities I can't wait to get out there and join up on some local rides. I met Hammerin Hammon the other day, I over heard him talking about the ride to Idyllwild...small world. Here's a blog I did after my solo ride around Palomar and Warner Springs http://dr-zinger.blogspot.com/ Hope to meet the rest on trails!!! p.s. My name is Gary Brusch, I live in Carlsbad and I ride a 2001 DRZ400s I bought about a month ago. Previous bike was a 2000 YZ426.

The ride I took: I rode from Carlsbad out the 76 to 395 into Temecula East on 79. 1/2 mile past the Anza turnoff (391 I think)turned right towards the RV park. at park went left on dirt road (through no trespassing signs) just stayed on the dirt road which is the Palomar Divde road. Took it although way to where it drops back down onto the 79. Turned right towards Warner Springs then a few miles on the left took Lost Valley rd for 7 miles once a Indian Flats turned right on dirt road and took it until I reached Chiahuahua valley road turned left on it then left again on the 79 then into Warner spring, palomar mtn and down Nate Harrison grade back on 76 and home. Ok ride if you're going solo since it's not technical at all and more scenic. I would recommend driving and unloading your bike in Warner springs and start from there. I enjoyed it but too much street riding.
