The John Penton Story - trailer
dirt dame replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Articles, Movies, Videos, DS/ ADV Related
Besides enduro enthusiasts, I would guess that all KTM fans would also be a fan of John Penton. We can all just speculate what would have happened if he found some other manufacturer to put his design into production. -
Wyoming has had the longest, coldest winter in a couple of decades. It snowed last week, but will reach 60 degrees by Wednesday. But...snow is forecast to fall on Thursday and Friday. Probably going to be alternate warm and cold weather into May. The big thing will be if the snow gets to melt between storms.

I hope everybody is having a great Easter Sunday, today, and you are are out riding and enjoying the great outdoors, or having a nice time with family members.

Want to introduce my 6, 6, and 4-year-old kids to motorcycles and/or quads
dirt dame replied to Hawkins's topic in Open Discussion
I know of a great place to take your kids to ride. At Corral Canyon campground in Corral Canyon OHV area, they built a kid's beginner area. Other than that, almost any staging area in the lower desert will have a flat open area. -

Stagecoach Trail 3-26
dirt dame replied to cj54x's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
Unless you happen to be Uncle Cameron. I still remember him riding that route back in 2007, in the summertime, in slacks, tee shirt and street boots, standing up and picking his way through the rocks on his giant BMW. I was wiped out from the terrain and heat and thought I was hallucinating when he motored by the spot I had stopped at to rest. But....I digress.ð -

New Utah state requirements for OHVs street legal or otherwise
dirt dame replied to mctrails's topic in Motorcycle Safety, Training & Riding Schools
Looks like this will answer the questions.... Also, I went and completed their online trail safety and ettequette test online and get the certificate. It is free, so whether you actually have to have that or not for offroading with a street plated bike, you may as well get it and carry it. -

I sure miss my old trail home in the high desert. I wish I could be there right now. -
Usually the oil will get light and muddy looking if it gets coolant in it. And often you can see some oil in the radiator too. Mucky coolant happens usually when Dexcool and another type of coolant gets mixed togeter. Flush it out and put fresh coolant in.

About the spammer. This spam has turned up on another website that I am an administrator on. What happens is that the spammer picks an account that hasn't been used in a while, then hacks that account to spam the website. The spammer may take up to a dozen or more inactive accounts and use them to spam. the software on the other forum let me figure out how to ban just the IP address, and not the user by their original IP address. So in that case, I was able to ban just the spammer's IP while leaving the account intact. And yes, it was just this week, and yes, it was the same spam message. So it is going around. The spammer is in some durned eastern European country. Occassionally, I check my own IP addresses and make sure nothing new has shown up on my account.

Old school DS ride up in my neighborhood....

These two guys have a goofy adventure on 50 year old enduro bikes, since 90 percent of the roads up here in Wyoming are not paved. -
Old school DS ride up in my neighborhood....

My first bike was an HT1, was the same color as the DT in the video. Because I had that bike, I knew what was going to happen to it when it hit all that mud. The front wheel got locked up and I fell down on my HT, the first time I rode it in mud too.ð -

Happy new year from the not so great white north. None of my bikes have seen daylight since the first week in November. I sure miss riding.

Well if I still had the money and a place to live, I would be there too. The only thing that is attractive about living up here is that I can afford to exist with a roof over my head up here. Other than that, there isn't really any reason to be here.

I hate when that happens. Wishing you a speedy and full recovery.

Ori Flamme Canyon Ride 11-26-22

Looks like you took your dad way out of his comfort zone. That is the quickest way to get somebody to quit riding. I have been riding over 50 years, and used to race enduro, track and compete in observed trials events. I used to like riding technical terrain, because I liked the challenge. As I have gotten older, I have changed a lot. My depth perception and general eye sight is not so good, neither are my reflexes or stamina. I like easier terrain. While I have ridden Orriflame and Rodriguez dozens of times (even at night, once) over the years on everything from a KDX200 to a TE 450, and could no doubt still ride it today, it wouldn't be as enjoyable as it once was. Anyway, it's a pity that the experience soured your dad's view of dirt riding. -
Happy Thanksgiving to all SDAR members today. I hope everybody is having a nice day, a good meal, and hopefully you are getting a ride in somewhere.

People who's photo accounts have been hacked
dirt dame replied to dirt dame's topic in Website Information and/or Problems
If you come across any of these images, you can notify me and I will delete them. Seems like it was mainly accounts of people who are no longer active on our site, like Digdug and Joliet. These hacks are just annoying and don't belong.
