WooHoo! Finally picked up new bike today!

260LBS Definitely need suspension upgrades (springs and coil) but for any distance you also need a larger tank. Skid plate for sure. Good pick up though. Love the bike. Let me know when you want to take it on a Baja trip.

    Mikes Sky Ranch

To avoid the pre-run traffic as the race goes by mikes we are changing our ride to the weekend after the race March 8 & 9

    Mikes Sky Ranch

I'm in on the 22 & 23 to mikes. I have at least 4 guys who say they are going but that doesn't always work out so as long as I have one besides myself I'm there.

    Mikes Sky Ranch

I got the clearance from my dr. I can go. Who else wants to make it happen? Feb 22 & 23 I could probably make an extra day by leaving on the 21st but then I would have to add in san Felipe an extra day just for mikes doesn't make sense.
  5. I'll be there but haven't got my tickets yet. Who is tailgating is the question. Section?

    Mikes Sky Ranch

I feel good and I think the Dr will give me the ok so I'm planning on the 22 & 23 but the only thing that concerns me is it is the date of the desert dash and a week before the baja 250 so participation my be limited.

Sad news ...... fallen member :(

Very heavy heart to hear the news this morning. Dana was a great guy full of energy and always with a smile on his face. He loved riding in Baja and it was a pleasure knowing him. I definitely want the details of the funeral and the spot of the event so we can pay our respects to a great guy.
  9. Nice pictures and report. As much as I travel to baja and enjoy it I have trepidations about doing it solo. Some day I want to spend a month down there riding through every corner.
  10. November 30th? That's plenty of notice. You set up the Irish car bombs I'm in plus my wife I will need my designated driver.
  11. Our Compadres Trail Riders group is planning a Baja (San Felipe) run November 22-14. It will be a pre run weekend as it is the weekend before the Baja 1000. Tracks and day info. to follow. :coolio:/>/>/>
  12. Just going to make it a three day trip Friday through Sunday.
  13. A little more then a week out. Looks like a small group.
  14. Just installed some grip heaters. Sometimes the weather can be unpredictable this time of year. We were snowed on in February riding across Compadre trail. Don't worry Randy plenty more trips ahead. :coolio:/>
  15. I can't wait to get back down to Baja. Seeing Chris and Dana's pics just get me more anxious to hit the trails. :coolio:/>
  16. Changed the date on this one. The weekend after the race Nov 21-24.

    Seen any piggies?

Nice. I have my pig tag and a 300 win mag that I've been wanting to get out. I've heard people say they've seen some around Lake Moreno. I had planed on going to when it cools down a bit. Heard late afternoon is the best time for hunting/glassing.

    Coyotes NOT welcome

Before Brad left for the Marines he HAND cut at least a mile of single track. I told him to make some hard loops and he did. WAY hard loops. Kicked my ass one day. Anybody who wants to come up and run them is welcome. There is one loop that goes over lichen covered boulders and is very technical. Nice there ought to be quail up there as well. Morning quail hunt then running the trails. Now that would be a good day. How do you ever leave your home.
  20. Ok the plan will be to get to San Felipe on Thursday. On Friday I plan to make a run to gonzaga bay and back. Might hang by the pool on Saturday but open to ideas. Then back home Sunday. Probably follow some of the baja 1000 Course coming down then a bit different going home so we are not going backwards on the course.
  21. Trying to get the group to hit Puerto Nuevo on Sunday 8/4. Anyone else interested. Leaving from Tecate around 7am. Also, who has tracks they want to send me? :coolio:/>
  22. We had a great exploratory trip. Started out meeting everyone (Tim, Mike, and Dana (StevoDaDevo) at the border around 7:30. I talked with the lot owner before we headed out and asked about hitting dirt sooner but he said everything has pretty much been block off. He gave me a little hand drawn surface street map to get to Carrizo Reservoir. I already had that info from GPS but always ready to take more info. We went through town to the old hwy 2 (libre) the got of at the Carrizo turn off which started the dirt section of the trip. After making it to the damn I turned up a side road for a scenic view "> There is a trail that goes around the north end from that view point that I need to go back and explore where it starts from. From the damn we took the road to valle de las palmas were we tried to connect with the tracks Afry provided but the first attempt we came upon a locked gate and decided to head further south into the town. From there we took a couple roads that ended at ranches. We also took the road to the top of the towers. there was an overgrown two track at the top we followed until it just ended so back we went. We ended up around vdp universitad (sp??) looking for another connection but around this time it was getting closer to noon so we opted to head back out to the 2 and follow it for a few miles were I was pretty sure we could connect with Afry's tracks. That worked and we ended up in Puerto Nuevo around 1:30pm. "> It was a lot of fun but there was a lot of rocks to ride through so we all opted for slab on the way home. I think Dana would have preferred some more dirt but we all wanted to get back across before it was too late.
  23. yep still meeting at the border around 7am
  24. Yeah should be fun. Like I said we are leaving tecate border around 7:00-7:30am. We plan to do a little exploring of the area but should be ordering lobster and cerveza by 11am. then cruise back. It shouldn't be too long of a trip. thinking of being back around 3-4pm but nothing set in stone. :coolio:/>
