Green sticker vs Red would make this decision for me. Why limit yourself, even a little. Green. If you go WR, ride it prior to clippin' wires. If you like the hit, clip. I like the WR as is but I ride at 873rd the speed you do.

Anybody bring/wear a CoolVest or similar? Interesting RR and just studly knockin' that out in the heat/time frame. -

I have a brand new G...rig. I'll shoot you a text and you can come look at it if ya want. If you don't get a text, PM me as I have an old number. -
Welcome! I miss my DR, but still have most of the specialty tools. If you ever need anything - NSU switch secured, safety switches bypassed, valves adjusted. etc - I'd be glad to work on the bike with ya. If that Ricochet sticker is for the skid plate, the rear mounts need to be checked or the plate extended to the stock mount location. There are a few instances - some of us here witnessed one - where the rear mounts punch through the center case. Instant oil drain. See ya out there.

Nice skid plate! You do ride that thing like most ride their 450 DS bikes, so it's held up well for ya.

Link worked for me. Funny when they point out the HP lacking on the Africa Twin. 93 isn't the 160 of the Ducati, but it's plenty.

Butler Maps Forest Service offices for the areas you'll be passing through - they send free FS maps most times.

One went for the $13K mark at Southbay, too.

I've never ridden the big KTM so no direct comparison, but have a '15 Tiger XCx. The pre-'15 you mention has the idle stepper motor. It can be an issue - bike stalls at idle - if not kept clean. Not hard, but good to know it's there. The air filter on the Tiger is up under the tank and a PITA to change. If you go that way, UNI has a foam pre-filter which I installed on mine. The '15 (x) models come with adjustable WP suspension but I don't know what the pre '15's have. I think a V-Strom is more street oriented than the Tiger and I had one for 8 years. The triple is a smooth engine and will eat miles without much maintenance. My son-in-law rode 2up with my daughter on a bike just like the Tiger pic you posted - no issues. He's smaller than you and my daughter is 5'3". A set up Tiger with a good rider (not me) will do everything you want in the dirt. The extreme of this is the ICON Raiden bikes - heavily supported - Good luck on the hunt.

Thx -
When I parted out a bike a while back, I got an online USPS account for convenience. It saves a little over going there and printing labels at home, then dropping off is easier. Working the regions on their site and playing with variables got the best rate - but not as cheap as the mega shippers get. I just think that's a volume discount thing but have no proof. I just shipped a chest protector to NorCal in a 22x17x7 box and it was $16 insured. Higher than I thought it would be. I compared the different shippers during the bike parts shipping and it wasn't a significant difference. No current data.

Fish Creek never really gets old. Did you jog up Sandstone Canyon? Wondering if the slide still blocks "non-adventurous" trucks. -
Welcome! A lot of mid-big bike riders here so don't hesitate to post up a ride. Some (me) just need a push off the couch.

A lot can be done to open the cockpit up a bit. Bar risers, lower pegs, taller seat. GoofyFooter has a perfect build awaiting the finishing touches. It might be for sale and has the Safari tank, pumper carb, etc. I don't have mine anymore but would be happy to sort things with you if you get one. https://procycle.us/bikepages/dr650.html <-- owner Jeff has ridden a DR for years and has worked out the bugs. http://www.warp9racing.com/product-tag/suzuki-dr650/ <-- owner rides a DR. His products are top knotch. I'd buy that brake lever in a second as I tried to modify mine to get better feel. I'm sure he got it right.

The big bike ride posted last night would be a good one on the Tiger. Depending on the plans I know nothing about yet I may go. Welcome aboard!

I had some airplane time this week so caught up on my reading. Thumbed through a short article on 6D helmets and it looks interesting. http://www.6dhelmets.com/

Copy. Brain wasn't tracking. Doesn't crash well. Hopefully my protection won't have to be tested. -

I have the Forma ADV and liked 'em right outta the box. I've been buying from AtomicMoto for years and they have a no hassle return if things don't work for you. It took me a few tries before landing on my SG-10's for the off road stuff.

No worries - I think he was a little busy - and it got shared 1500 times on FB, which means the moto-community is stickin' together,.
-
Yeah - he posted an update today (or I saw it today). Ridden, crashed, partially stripped. Probably a total by the insurance company.
-
Fixed - I hope - if not, good luck!

Body color matched milk crate option. I miss my low tech DR anchor.
