  1. STAND BACK! I don't know how big this thing gets!!! I have an idea that this thread may not last for a month, and if it does it will be difficult to weed through the b.s. and find the original point of the thread; RIDING WITH OUR PALS! I'm down for riding on the 29th so please put my name on the reservation list, I'll check back on the 28th Yea, right. your going to stay away for a month! Ya love it, and you know it. I'll give this thread 2.5 weeks, with 2 maybe 3 after shock distractions, and one 5.0 for good measure on the rector/ wreckter/wrector/rectal--- you know the shakey scale. LOL
  2. Sorry guys for our little detour there, thinkn everything is back on track now. If anybody has a favorite place to make a night ride destination then please let us know. Everything is open for descussion. Ideas to make the rides better, routes, time frames, camping locations? anything. I also want to put a time frame on the sign up for eats. I brought a friend unannounced this last trip, Rob was a gratious host and brought extra luckly. Im thinking that we should be able to reserve a space at the feed trough at least one day in advance. If a guest is comming thats fine, just let us know before the deadline. If he or she is a last minute add on thats fine, please let them know that there probably wont be chow for them unless theres extra. I dont want to turn anyone away, but we need to know how many to buy for. Depending on how big this thing gets we may want to take up a donation for the SDAR food bank? Any better ideas? lets hear it...
  3. No body here is joking Craig! You should start being more serious. If you would like to call me I will be more than happy to tell you how funny this is, Or Pm me and i will give you my shop address and we can discuss this issue so that we both understand what is really being said here. Or listen to your close friends and hear what they are telling you. Either way, this stuff is only funny to you and in your head. Good luck pal PM me if you want to take me up on my offer. Balls in your court fast guy. BOB

I wont be able to go home tonight because im laughing too hard now. ???????????????
  5. So why do you feel the need to respond with the shi-ty cad remarks? If you know what the ride is like and your not interested why comment? Its got to be for one reason, to piss off people, or your bored with your life and enjoy messing with others as recreation. Either way its not healthy. Ive been busy the last few weeks and kind of missed this forum. Now that im back and find this crap still flying around, well maybe busy isnt bad after all. Ive never met you face to face, but i must admit I dont care for you based on the words you type and publish over this forum. Maybe your a great guy in real life face to face, but im not sold! Ive said some things on this forum that i wish i could take back. I did go back and delete alot of things that i had written and after the fact read and relized it sounded harsh. I then appologized to those who i might have offended. In your case you would have to delete just about everything you wrote to wipe the slate clean. You were asked the other day to think about the forum rules and think about what your saying. You scoffed at that advice and basically said F.U. Dont be supprised when that additude starts flowing your way Craig. I know LOL. This is making you laugh?
  6. With all the fun right here I aint travelin to ride slow. Your catching on! Maybe thats why its posted as a SLOW RIDE? Sinking in yet?--- We all know your wants, likes, riding style, life style, and disapproval for anyone who dosnt feel the same. I hope by sturring everything up youve got the reaction YOU wanted. YOUR not bored now, right?
  7. Sorry, I dont know for sure where we are going yet? Maybe some whoopy doos would be cool!

    8-25 Night ride

Does that count as BBQII 2007?? Actually John, with the two night rides and the bash at your place, that should be BBQIII 2007. We should be able to squeeze in a couple more dont ya think? Did anyone crash last night? Maybe thats the beauty of darkness? If ya crash and no one sees it, did ya still crash? Well unless it leaves a mark of course. Im thinking we should start scouting for a early brunch run from the Beach to Campo via Honda pilot's route. Any interest? Maybe instead of the chuck wagon, we will hit Barrett junction or something for an early lunch? it would be good to know how long that portion of the ride would take. Just a thought.

    8-25 Night ride

I want to thank Rob, Ken and their staff for making the " Border Partol Checkpoint" on Corral Cyn. Rd. the place to be last night. Next time Bikeslut might want to book this Gig? I ran off without my camera so ill just say a few words and let everyone else give Rob and Ken their well desirved props. For you new people here, you will soon learn that what ever these Two guys are involved in, you should be also! If not, your loosing out. Without exception, last night was no different. Rob (Ride orange) bought Costco's entire meat and alcohol department out. He then had it transported directly up to the " Border patrol checkpoint" in large refrigerated trucks which he, Joliet and staff set up in banquet fashion. They then waited for us to show up at 9:30 with enough food still left over to feed us! How cool is that! Well maybe thats not exactly the way it went down, but it seemed that way! Refreshments were served, we talked, ate, and split on to the second half of the ride. I guess they cleaned up after us, and left? Stayed the night? Has anyone heard from Rob? LOL As Ken mentioned there was a total of 9 riders. All possessed the stealth skills required for bouncing thumper echos off the mountian sides at midnight. The ride was led by the "Cyclops John Carguy". That new helmet HID of his was blinding. Everyone was praying he wouldnt look at them with that blinding stare of his. The rest of us just followed "The Light" all night. The end I Cant do this ride justice with words! All that I can say is if your bored, if your tired, if your worried, if your old, if your new, These rides are the answer! A ride like last nights are the rides that will stick in your mind for ever. It is the reason that we post all these words. On a scale of 1 to 10, the night ride on Aug. 25 2007 was a 15 to me. Thanks to everybody that gave their time, effort, money, and fellowship to make it happen! Bob (Metal Twister) My total for the night was 175 miles --- Out the door at 4:30 pm returned at 12:30 am.--- Proudly Pyro'ed with Pyro Welcome to the gang Jim Martoon.
  10. I had a chance to meet with Carguy this morning for some east county snooping. We must of looked suspecious to someone. We were stopped on the street by the Border Patrol for some quick questioning, then freed to travel on. Im sure it was Johns Over stuffed cammied back pack that got their attention, along with blazing off of the boarder road at sun up. LOL We headed right for the Golden Acorn where we topped off the fuel and headed east. John knows that part of the world like the back of his hand so it was a real treat to follow knowing that we wernt going to get in too deep. We made it down the old Stage coach road to Moutian Springs. At that point we crossed over both lanes of the Hwy 8 and did some poking around at the old stage station. From there we jumped on the 8 headed west to the Cameron Truck trail. From there we did some more snooping and actually found a road that John didnt Know!!! What a treat. LOL we finally parted ways in Potrero. After all was done today, John and I both think the night ride should stay up out of the desert, for this time of year anyway. We would like to do the same route as the last night ride only add a section that would run us via dirt road to Potrero. We would double back and end up at the mid way point of Buckman springs rd. leaving a short little road section to Corral cyn. The ride wont be too challenging in terms of rough, technical, riding, Im sure the night vision issue will make it interesting as always. It should be fun to feel our way around the east county in the dark. Im looking foward to a good time, and hope you will join us. Im thinking a 5:30 PM Departure from the four corners parking area at Corral Cyn. on August 25 would be about right.

August 25th Corral Cyn. Night Ride

I feel like im stuck between a rock and a hard spot here. I started this topic because a night ride sounded like the perfect ride for this time of year. Since I set this date I feel an obligation to see it through. However Ive since been obligateted to another function which is business REQUIRED! If there was ANY way to ride on the 25th Id be there, I just cant make it! I have been holding off in hopes that i could get out of the meeting on Saturday night. It appears that that is not going to happen. My appoligies to everyone that was looking to ride as I was. My hopes is that you guys press foward and have a great ride! Sorry! Bob

August 25th Corral Cyn. Night Ride

Hey spaugh! the route we will be taking will be a good pace but not crazy fast! specially after sunset. I have no desire to haul arse in the dark. we've all seen what happens when you do that, right Hammer? I dont know how new you are to riding but there are alot of places to catch the asphalt if the pace is to quick for you. Heck who knows, we might get into that rum and just forget to ride? Give it some thought, bet it will be a blast for you being a new rider and all. Remember, Change is Opportunity!
  15. Can they fly as fast as a dirt bike?

August 25th Corral Cyn. Night Ride

Camping at Corral is sure an option. Last time there were a few that wanted to come down from the north county, and relized that the drive home after a long bikeride in the middle of the night might be a bit much. Im hoping that the option for a lay over at Corral might make it easyer for those that have to travel a bit to get there. Who knows, maybe bring the kids and wives let them ride the rest of the weekend?

August 25th Corral Cyn. Night Ride

We will see if anyone wants to pick up the ball on the pit stop Ken... Team R-O is down for pit crew I'll need all the help we can muster draining Silver Bullets during the wait period More details as they develop... If this group is half as talented as the last night riders, You had better drain those silver bullets fast. You guys were to the pit stop before we could set up the chuck wagon. On the brighter side if we get there before your ready, we can help with the beverages!!! Thanks Rob for stepping up to the call of duty! We will need to get a head count for this ride so we can figure out how many cases to purchase. If your planning on attending this night ride for sure, please let it be known so we can make arrangements to accommodate you. Thanks Bob

    "My Dog" / Doggie's thread!

This is my best friend! Lexus is a true shop dog, always happy and anxious to greet customers. In fact Ive got customers that stop by to visit and say hi to her. The only time she's not with me is when Im riding, and I know she wants to do that to! Just a great friend!

August 25th Corral Cyn. Night Ride

We will see if anyone wants to pick up the ball on the pit stop Ken, we will have to play that one by ear for awhile. The route will take us through Mc Cain Valley again. That might be a good stop point. Or Corral cyn. before or after, might be a option. If no one wants to play chuck wagon, maybe just a cooler along the way with cold refreshments might be in order? There is alot of nice spots for that.
  20. How was the water crossing Gene? Was the H20 high or low?

This should probably be a poll

Good point Chief! When I say they are "all good machines" I must admit that I forget about those cheesy things they called motorcycles. I dont even think about them, much less take them seriously!
  22. Ok ive been lurking around for about a month or so now. And have been in deep Guru reflection. Seems a little heat settles in and the riding slooooows waaaay dowwwwwn. Now I know theres a lot of us guys and gals that really need to ride, but its just to damn hot! It seems that theres only a couple of options to me. 1). we ride, and tuff it out. 2) we load up and invade the coast, or travel north to the high country. 3) we play bats and owls and go for a night ride. Is anybody up for a evening blast to the deset? Ride until 2:30 am or so, do a little R&R till say 8:00 am, and back up the hill before the Sun Gods wake up? I was thinking that the Ramona Rumble route that Crawdaddy led us on might be a good way down the hill. Work our way down the east and west side of S2 to, find a good lay over place for a couple hours of rest. then back up the hwy8 to Laguna and back to Ramona. Im thinking a good dual sport ride with the big bikes and us little guys might be a fun thing? any ideas? any intrest? If it got to crazy we could always jump on the road and slither on home?

Should we? Could we? Do we dare another night ride?

Well it's getting closer to the 25th, it might be time to get serious about the next night ride. There was some question about fuel East of Ramona. Not knowing what the stations hours are it puts us in an uneasy position. With that in mind we started to focus on the route of the last night ride. Im thinking we could continue out of Mc Cain valley and continue on towards the desert floor. Carguy and I are going to do some poking around this weekend, we are going to see if some routes we know of are still available to us. At any rate, the last night ride went well and was a fairly quick paced ride. Im thinking we should meet at the Corral Canyon camp grounds. If there was anybody who wants to come from a little further away, it might be a good place to lay over until morning. After getting to Octolla we can fuel up and head in any direction. Any suggestions? Superstitions Mtns, S2 north, ??? Im thinking we should get on the trail around 5:30 pm. This would give anybody with poor night vision an opportunity to get some time riding with us before dark. This ride route will be good for anybody who would like to cut the ride short for any reason. Theres lots of road access to return if desired. Nothing is final yet, If you have a suggestion now is the time to speak up! I will post our Our final route in the members section on Sunday evening.

This should probably be a poll

I think they all are great! The only reason I own a KTM right now is I had an offer I couldnt pass up. Ive got thousands of hard Baja miles on the old XR650l and would buy another in a heart beat. At the same time the KTM has some quality features that in my mind that make it worth the extra money, if you have it. And like always, its what you get use to. I say get what you can afford and ride the wheels off of it, they are all great machines. XR650l - Zero problems, rode hard, and poor maintence. KTM 640LC4- Zero problems and maintained very well.

San Diego Dual Sport Trails Rating

It seems that when ever a ride is posted, trail condition is always asked about and described. It also seems to be described by different riders in many different ways, and levels of difficulty. It would be easy to name the different trails here in San Diego. Do a poll for say for 3 months on each trails difficulty. After that time assess a rating on that trail. That way there would be a lot of input from everybody, and the true trail rate would surface. It would also give everybody a way to judge a trail based on Trails that they have ridden on. Does this make since to anybody else? If so maybe we could come up with a list of most often used trails and add to it as time goes on? Maybe a page just for the results? Just a thought and open for discussion. SDAR TRAIL RATING STANDARD Has this already been done?
