    SD to Oregon

Wayne, Excellent shots. What a series of contrasts. Nice to have proof that you really did see all those wonderful places. Love the seascape. PS - That 950 is an excellent road bike, don't you thinks? Is that a packing board you fabricated across the panniers? Dave

    Moto Max

Continuing to receive great service from Dave at Moto Max Discount Cycle Accessories in La Mesa Stopped by Saturday and he had the MT43 FRONT he ordered for me before my Colorado / Montana trip. There was a supply problem in August, but he now has a supplier with stock. He is ordering two more fronts to arrive Tuesday Sept 21. He also stocks D606s, MT21s, MT43 rears all at everyday sale prices. Also, the good Bridgestone HD and UltHD tubes in stock Dave has offroad tools, inexpensive jerseys and will work at ordering hard to find equipment. Just Dave and his right hand man get it done. http://motomaxsandiego.com/

SDAR to Take Over Bishop Dualsport Ride ?

Rad, Did VCMC share with you what they liked the least about hosting the event?? Were the few core people just tired, or was it more than that? Would this commitment "require" us to ride the Bishop area more frequently?

    Radio Antenna - FT270R

Good afternoon Group, In my travels, the range of the 270 stuffed in the tank bag with supplied antenna has been underwhelming. Gordon West, the Radio Test writer states that a antenna in the horizontal position is up to 100 times less effective. Some in the club are using a floppy 19" quarter wavelength antenna to advantage. My thought is to use a remote stiff 19.5" mounted on the front headlight shield. using swivel mount and miniature coax to connect to radio in tankbag. A. Has anyone used this setup? B. Is HRO to best place to buy parts? In remote dusty situations, my ride pays get around a corner or 1/4 mile or more of separation causing drop out.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIMI!

    HBD Mimi, Keep on Fishin'
  13. Thursday, I'm heading to Pine Valley ( Major's Parking lot ) and heading north about 0900. Monday, could be starting in Ramona ( Packard's ) and riding with Zenosan north. I certainly wish the Dez will cool down soon!
  14. Zenosan, Forgetting Class?? Isn't that a Student excuse? Could have something to do with deterioration of the Little Grey Cells. Ask me, I know all about it. Regards, Monday,,let's talk this weekend.
  15. Sanya Yz TT and bridge? Donde? See above map. I installed a blue bubble just northeast of Ramona.
  16. Well Folks, Seems I am not meeting anyone's needs...except my own. The idea is an easy going Morning Ride while it is Cool. 0900 to early afternoon, say 1:00PM. I will be @ Packard's East Hwy 78 & 7th Street. 0830 hoping to depart 0900. http://maps.google.c...8,0.015814&z=16 Wander up Pamo Cyn to Carney Cyn, back to Black Mtn, accross Upper Santa Ysabel TT to bridge then talk it over. Pretty easy two track with a few views. I know Thursday is tough, but hey, it is definitely a relaxing day to ride.
  17. Any chance we can make it 0700? Not with Bagstr. Possibly someone else is an Early Riser.

    RIding out of San DIego

You two are killin' me. I haven't finished paying for the last trip. Big Dogs' Track will give me something to work with next trip north. My excursion to Bald Mountain was five miles away from Big Dogs' Idaho Track southeast of St. Maries. Ran out of time at the farm. Plus it is a "Different Story", running around on those logging roads by your lonesome. Without a track it is tough navigation through the maze of roads. Big Dog has great appeal because he is a good story teller. His information with the Ride Along would attract less attention. But that is AdventureRider, travel stories. FakeName, You have escaped via Mecca and Joshua Tree before. Amboy, Kelbaker Rd. to Kelso and Cima, then you are on your way. Trouble is your knobs won't hold up to that pavement stuff. We need a California Big Dog to research a dirt route. Would take a bunch of time.
  19. Zenosan, Iffy, You mean you have managed to fill up all that spare time...Like me? Hope you make it.
  20. Morning Ride, Sorry. Pine Valley can be Cedar Creek and Pine Mtn. Basically, travelling north, not Corral Cyn. Ramona can be Carney Cyn. Black Mtn and Santa Ysabel TT. Just need to get out for awhile. If the temps get into the 90s, may need to wait for Saturday or later.

    Radio Antenna - FT270R

SRH77CA Visited Ham Radio Outlet, Joe Acevedo was very patient and informative to the novice as he presented his questions. Question: I would like a windscreen mounted 2 meter 1/4 wave ( 19" ) antenna with a mini coax extension cable. U dope! What are you thinkin' Actually, Joe explained such a device would have some kind of ground plain issue And need a 1/2 wavelength antenna. Note, 2 meter = approx 78" / 2 = 39". 78" / 4 = 19.5" ( Brad, please check my math ) Recommendation - Get this Diamond SRH77CA , SMA 2M / 440 Dual Band Wide antenna and attach to chest protector on chest ( appropriately ) with aid of a velcro loop midway up antenna to control whipping. " All the Baja Racers, are doing this" Done deal. I will let you know how it works vs the std Rubba Ducky. $32.57 incl tax
