Personally, I do not understand why people are having trouble with BaseCamp. The Kyocera is interesting as a Montana replacement. Isde97 - If someone sends you a .gpx file, does it load onto the software you are using? If it does, I see your point. You don't need Garmin at that point. Dave

Paul's Chariot Ride - Jan 2020

In Talking abut this ride, Pre-Ride, I asked for an Inspiration to motivate the group. PMB shed his usual " I am just following you. " and suggested a run up Little Culp and to Mason Valley TT. Well then, there you go. The gate stands at the intersection of the Pacific Crest Trail and Mason Valley Truck. Outside the frame of the photos, it indeed stops east progress with a sign stating " No Vehicles " ; not withstanding all the truck tracks and wide grading in evidence all the way up from Chariot Canyon Rd. The grading continued as we descended Mason V. Truck to the first sharp turn in the rocky Oriflamme Canyon. With all the grading, I was wondering if the staff had graded out all the rocks on the two mile descent. Nope, not much change since my last visit five or more years past.Reading Mike and Randy's DD flyer, I noted the suggestion that the riders on Big Bikes should have expert skills. I agree. Controlling 600lbs of mass bouncing off the continuous stream of big and small rocks.would be a workout Once we exited the deep sand road in Mason TT, we made a left and rolled smoothly up to Blair and Little Blair. The RVs were rapidly filling up Blair senior, but Little Bear Valley was wide open at noon Thursday. Looking for more inspiration, we rolled down the pavement to Lizard Wash down near Tamarisk Camp. Oracle's exploration ( Kug ) giving me the idea. Short and sweet with many Ocotillos. Edit: Evidently Oracle and Kug were in Mine Wash. The flow of ideas continued from PMB as he suggested Grapevine to Jasper for the return. Boy, the roll through reminded me how fabulous the trail and ecosystem is there. I slowed the group down some as I stopped to talk to two cyclists from Salem on the trail. They were camped in one of those Streeetch Beemer campers back in the dispersed camp area. Nice folks and after answering a few questions I knew to get going as the buds were waiting up the trail. Man that was fun having the open dust free trail in front of me " needing " to catch up. Whoa. Jasper was another hoot up-hill having been graded as well. We got SCM back to town 25 minutes to spare for his schedule. How did the performance at the library go?? -

Found the Stock unit
-
Thanks Randy, That may explain why the stock KTM came with a black fitting. But,,,, If you don't have a backflo piston the only oring is on the stock male side from the throttle body. I need to find the stock female side that came off the bike. And Paul, My mistake, thinking the right angle was from the tank as mine is. I need to find the Amgems Fuel Line discussion from a few years past.

Questions, Questions. All these parts are made by the same manufacturer ( CPC ) plastic or metal. My stock aluminum male fitting from the throttle body fits these plastic plumbing female fittings. Does this brass unit fit the stock aluminum fitting? And DSM8, are you buying locally at some auto supply? Harrington Industrial, Kearny Mesa is a local distributor Paul, The right angle fitting needs to be threaded?? https://www.hipco.com/stores/san-diego/ https://www.cpcworldwide.com/ https://www.humphrey-products.com/content/viton-vs-buna-which-seal-for-your-applications

Discovered a little known ( to me ) fact regarding the fuel quick connect some of us are using. The 5/16 hose connection part from Motion Pro or Marshall's Industrial Hardware has a backflo piston internally. I was under the impression that the tank would leak out if the piston was broken or missing. Not so! Last week I put too much side pressure on the parts as I removed the tank and the delicate piston fractured. Upon realizing this, I pulled the piston out and noticed that no fuel was leaking from the tank. Mmm, after 10 seconds of careful thought, I realized that he pump was limiting flow of fuel. I believe there are two versions of the Quick Disconnect in circulation; with and without the backflo piston. The backflo version would be needed for a non-fuel pump tank. Some say the O-rings from the units bought in the plumbing department are not fuel durable and the Vitron type are needed. Personally, I have had no issue. Amgems sent me some of the official O-rings and I carry them for back-up.

This is the Tribute version of the 900. If I ever got a Street bike again, it would be on my " Don't know where I'm goin', But I'm goin' in style List ". Not exactly an Interstate bike. Enjoy the Ride

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lion_and_the_Mouse The fable in literature[edit] In the oldest versions, a lion threatens a mouse that wakes him from sleep. The mouse begs forgiveness and makes the point that such unworthy prey would bring the lion no honour. The lion then agrees and sets the mouse free. Later, the lion is netted by hunters. Hearing it roaring, the mouse remembers its clemency and frees it by gnawing through the ropes. The moral of the story is that mercy brings its reward and that there is no being so small that it cannot help a greater. Later English versions reinforce this by having the mouse promise to return the lion's favor, to its sceptical amusement. -
Cholla Loop - Jan 23

We never know what will stand out on our cruise through the park. Always something new. And so it was Thursday. Quite a sight as CID approached a smooth, hard left turn covered in a few small rocks, flanked by numerous cholla plants in full prickly bloom. One flaw in the setting must have disturbed the Dusty Man. One apple sized cholla digit lay in the middle of the otherwise perfect scene. A beautiful sight as CID laid the bike over, carefully sliding Both wheels across the hard-pack surface. The cholla located itself in strategic position. Undisturbed, CID simply continued his slide to a full 180 and reached with his throttle hand; having such control that he no longer needed the throttle. Lower and lower as he reached out to remove the troublesome cholla. Gracefully he scoped up the digit to push it away. Beautiful. These chollas have seen many pass by thinking to control or remove their troublesome needles. They are resilient, they fight back; they usually win the battle. None the less, a beautiful sight. -
TMD Skid Plate with about 8k miles off-road. Also consider that the non-metal are silent compared to aluminum rattle cans.

https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-011332 THIS OR SIMILAR - Will be better than the shorties . About 15 inches. Just go by Ham Radio Outlet and they will have a Diamond or Comet equal. Take your radio with you. I am assuming your antenna attaches the same as a Yaesu.
