I got a 360 Honda back in the 70's. Went to the local shop and told them to keep their eyes open. A kid came in for a ignition and they called the SO. I dropped off a 12 pack on Friday after work. It was in Wisconsin and beer is a universal gift. Phill (Watching my KLR rust up here in Washington)

I am in EL Centro. The KLR was on the carrier on my trailer and stayed in place. Report with a few pictures here: http://www.winterwren.com/2010/April.htm Two more shakers this AM at 4:15 and 6:33! Phill

Like that smile under that blue SP cap. I think I still have one here in the trailer. They need more championship banners. :=} Phill -
My daughter's YZ250F was stolen last night from the Perris Raceway. The numbers on it are 110. It has white fenders, no other graphics except for an ECC sticker under the rear fender. It has black ASV levers. The VIN is JYACG27C18A027004. The bad news it it was not paid off and no insurance. She decided to sell it last week because her wrists hurt when she rides. She's also looking at perhaps a third wrist surgery, so she's really bummed out now. She broke both wrists jumping that bike last July and the recovery has been slow. Please keep your eyes open. The bike was in the back of a truck and locked. Someone heard a bike start up and go at 1AM. There were 5 other bikes right there where it was. Taken for parts? She is really bummed because she got cut back in work hours. Now she's go to pay for a bike instead of selling it. Phill

Mel's welding in Vista has done all my hitches since the early 80's. They know their stuff. They did the ramp on the back of my travel trailer for my KLR. Phill

I,m old and turning into a sissy, but i will never grow up. "Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional." Phill -
S. Arizona judging by the cacti. There's saguaro and an organ pipe-type also visible. That's creosote bush to the left...but it grows everywhere. Is this a forensics quiz? Phill

Here's my collection of riding tips, etc.:http://www.winterwren.com/Driving/Motorcycles.html Just read Hough's "Proficient Motorcycling" twice. I'm too old to get hurt. I always follow 3 seconds behind vehicles and keep a safety zone around me all the time. Eyes moving and nothing to distract me when on the bike. Saw a fresh rear end yesterday at one of Escondido's schools. Those drivers dropping off kids are crazy. I like this cool weather too, more comfortable ATGATT. Phill

If you're in the Plaster City area(East) the rocket nerds will be doing "Plaster Blaster" that weekend. Always good entertainment and spectators are welcome. We were always happy when the off-roaders brought back our expensive rockets. Check it our here: http://www.plasterblaster.com/projects.html Phill -
I had memory overload watching that. Very nice. I had a Honda Dream, did they come in a smaller displacement? 305 seems kind of powerful for the one I had. I remember drafting grain trucks on USS 2 in Minnesota...only way I could keep up with traffic. Lucky to still be alive. Phill

Escondido BMW Dualsport ride?
Uncle Phill replied to Uncle Phill's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
Thanks kklug, I went on their ride, it was street/blacktop, but was very nice. I was the only non-BMW guy, but they accepted me! Fun morning. Phill -
Escondido BMW Dualsport ride?

Anyone know anything about this? It's listed in Friction Zone for Sunday(Oct. 4). I've been riding with the cruisers on the last few Sundays. Time to get the KLR rolling(they say all brands welcome). Phill -
El Centro....sweat, fly, ride, repeat

Jan 08 I ran into those guys, they had some pretty cool rockets out there. We liked it when the offroaders brought back our lost rockets, they are expensive. I've moved on from rockets and back to motorcycles. Worked on some awesome rockets over the years...including the one Johnny Knoxville rode in Jackass 2. I still like to go out for the launches and have lots of friends in the rocketry community. Phill -

Watch for rockets. The rocket club will be out in the lake bed east of Plaster City Friday through Sunday. Looks like a small group, but they may launch some nice big rockets. They have a 25,000 waver from the FAA. They'll be out the first weekend of every month through the winter. Free entertainment! Phill -
I think the NC Times said she was unlicensed. And no charges...they're thinking. This is vehicular manslaughter. Throw the book at her. At least they're not calling it an "accident". Phill

More snow stories. Extreme N. Wisconsin..200" inches of snow/winter common. We would grab the rear bumpers of cars at stop signs and get a ride. Ski behind a car; like waterskiing. Also, climb up the ski hill late at night and ride down on a car hood. Not much steering control with that set-up. Pour outboard gas on the lake & light it on fire. I still remember the smell of Pete's burning hair. Something else that doesn't happen today. Try hitchhiking while carrying a Winchester(AND getting a ride home). I had locked the keys in my Dad's car while bear hunting as a teenager. Phill -
I moved here in 1981 and the DMV gave me a M1 because I had a Wisconsin license. Sold my bike in about 1986 and sometime the DMV took my M1 away. Soooo, took the MSF when I got my KLR and got it back. Way back in time we didn't need a license. The State gave me one when they became required because I had a bike(sometime in the 60's or 70's). The CA car test is a joke and the bike test looks tough. Phill

I've been selling off my earthly possessions on craigslist. Got a response on a sofa & lamp that screamed scam. Did a search and found the exact same e-mail sent to someone else...even using the same name. Some of these guys are not to bright. Phill

103.7 San Pasqual Valley yesterday on the patio. Been driving the F-350 to have AC. I can't bear the heat on the bikes. I like snow...what am I doing here? Phill

After surviving a day at the track in Perris my daughter broke both wrists today riding with her friends in Fallbrook. I got a call from Palomar ER late this afternoon. She's on her way down to Kaiser /Zion now. Left wrist is damaged the most and may need surgery. I am told that she overshot the landing on a jump. Took full force on her arms. She was fully geared up so back/brain/guts are OK. I think the full impact(!) of what happened hit her when she needed to got to the bathroom and needed help! She's young and I hope heals fast. This is not what I need right now. I also had to patch up some road rash on a cruiser ride today when one of our guys went down. Our man was following too close when an old lady slammed on her brakes. The big question is do I ride the bike down to visit her? Phill
-
6 weeks out and she finds out the left is not healing right. Possibly more surgery next week. She has serious cabin fever. Classes started and she still can't drive. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! Phill

I passed the link along to by crippled up daughter to enjoy while she heals. Then she calls me and tells me she's in for more work on her left wrist. I want her healed up! Phill
