If you go through all that trouble, and your still not sure, Take the bike to Ocean Beach Motorcycles, have them look at it. Once they are done, there will be no question its screwed up. could not help myself,, it was wide open/ sorry

did you know that if you have a IMS desert tank on a KLR and you forget to turn off the fuel LIKE OLD SCHOOL BIKES, THAT ALL THE FUEL WILL RUN INTO YOUR MOTOR? The motor if a KLR will hold 2.5 gallons of OIL and FUEL mixed, while upon starting bike, such mixture will pump, leak and spew all over the place and leak after turning over for 20 minute while you ponder WTF is going on. Then when looking into the oil sight glass, things look funny, so you drain the "OIL" where as you will need a 5 gallon bucket to dump mixture into all the while your buddy is cracking up. If this happens to you, you will need a new 'O"ring for the oil filter as the old one will swell up with fuel. Also a new air filter cause the other one is soaked and eaten away from fuel,, have lots of rags on hand... Change your oil 3 times after getting the bike started,, but remember to have fun,,, thats all kiddies, till next time BOZO out

You forgot to add, "where's the drain plug as the first drain pans fills up?" This beats the tie down on the front brake line! Thanks for bringing that one up, NEVER use a tie down while pinching your brakeline,,, it will pull out and drip brake fluid all over your truck bed, where it will then peel off... Not that i have a HARLEY, but i have seen BOBBER TYPE HARLEYS outside this shop, No full dressers, just simple machines. I have noticed without paying much attention to it, Multi-high performance bikes there for months on end. I really wanted to like these guys, I mean its a local shop, however epic fail on all points given.

WHY MEFOs? Well for a fat heavy pig of a bike like the KLR these tires work wonders. Up into the twisties on pavement they grip like no other, (Peg Drag comes to mind) as stated by my riding partner, " You like those MEFOs Huh!" I ride to the ride and even tho I had a set of TKCs, while doing a 250 plus mile loop onmy riding day, i went through en fast. Like leaving point loma to the salton sea and hiting a few dirt reas here and there, then freeway back at 65mph eats up the other tires i had on. Besides that, i know KLR guys are cheap, real cheap , so i wanted to make up for it with buying over prices tires

Tank Grip Tape and Technique
bluefin2na replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
STOMP GRIP all the way, My big fat heavy KLR is covered in it. I tried the velcro but it ruined my riding pants after a few rides. I found that when sliding forward, in a slide with a heavy bike like mine, its best to slide forward on the tank, griping it with one knee, as the fat ass rear end comes around. After using stomped grip, i was not as weak after along ride. I LOVE STOMP GRIP, trick is finding the right pattern for your bike. You can buy it in sheets and trim it yourself, however it will not have the rounded edges and can/will come up and allow dirt and water under it. If you dont really care about style (like a KLR ) you can use NON-SKID, grip pannels, i know a guy who uses that, loves it and its not $38.99 a sheet.. -
One day,, yes one day a KLR will win this race, then you guys will see what your missing Phffffff,

DFG should be called right away. They need tissue samples of the animal, blood samples, and to check contents of whats in the cats stomach. Also before the feet/paws pads are eaten by ants, they need to make a cast of the big cats feet in order to see where it has been, from other tacks seen in the area. each cat leaves a different track. ETC ETC,, lots of things need to be done,

Thats nothing, I went to a LOCAL bike shop, for a flat tire, replace the tube, waited 7days for a tube for a KLR, not only that, I lost my REG sticker (twice) at this LOCAL place,, so dont feel bad, it is I who has made the mistake -

When coming out of a corner, do not twist the throttle like you did before, front tire comes way up and while still coming out of the corner you need to be ready. also, it helps if you learn forward when taking off from a dead stop... Holy cow,, what a fun , smooth ride this bike is now, but its still a heavy pig .. I got smiles for Miles
