corral canyon-oct12
robertaccio replied to bikeslut's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
Bob and crew, this is really shaping up to be a very fun concept ride,,hope you guys bring vid cams and still shooters,,, I have the machine for the ride*** ,, but I am all ready committed to a full sized machine ride this weekend. (enduro prep/training) You guys/gals have fun it should be circus of sorts, with lots of laughs,,,,and just remember old bones/muscles can get hurt just as bad on little bikes as on the big ones. enjoy the ride *** my kids dual shock 1980 XL80 converted to XR status (all electrics xcept magneto removed) with an XR cam, Hi comp XR oversized piston, ports cleaned up and matched, full size renthals with hand guards, XR100 front end, D756 tires, huge rear sprocket (XL gearbox is way too tall), Powroll exhaust, new XR carb, UNI filter, newly upholstered seat (too soft for big mr phat arse), somewhat new plastics with a mix cr125 and modern XR graphics and a new set of el cheapo shocks. Yes its super cheesy but runs like a top and really revs til the valves are floating in outer space!!! air cooled Hondas still amaze me. Enjoy the ride and if you do ride up the lower camp side of bronco please have many photos/videos of that adventure!! R -

Husqvarna DOHC TEs (08) Sight glass , vulnerable FYI
robertaccio replied to robertaccio's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
removed the sight glass assy,, and dissassembled it. replaced the lens with a disc of 7075-T6,,,recrimped assy and pressed it back into the engine case reinstalled retainer bracket. dumped remaining oil (enough) refilled with 1.7L Maxima 15w-50 and she is re-ready for action , without a sight glass, for now, but one is on order. R see ya on the green sticker trail -
Husqvarna DOHC TEs (08) Sight glass , vulnerable FYI
robertaccio posted a topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
For you 08 (and now 09) TE 250,450,510 Husqvarna riders. This issue was brought up when the new cases were made with an oil sight glass. Well at Glen Helen this past weekend an errant roost rock shattered mine, luckily on the sighting/practice lap. An additional cover (plexiglass or even a metal cover) may be the best answer. Just food for thought, it is vulnerable. Rob -

Top 10 overall riders at this years ISDE, 8 different manufacturers. I don't think there is any other motorsport series with as many different manufacturers involved. 1. (8-4-3-2-2) CERVANTES I. 2:55':23".78 ESP –KTM (1-E1) 2. (12-7-4-4-3) DIETRICH R. (+42".93) USA-KAW (2-E1) 3. (13-6-6-5-5) TARKALLA M. (+1':08".09) FIN-KTM (1-E3) 4. (3-3-2-3-6) GUILLAME S. (+1':21".38) FRA - HVA (2-E3) 5. (11-10-7-8-7) NAMBOTIN C.(+1':38".37) FRA-GAS (3-E3) 6. (5-9-9-7-8) BELOMETTI A. (+1.38".83) ITA- KTM (1-E2) 7. (4-8-5-6-4) MERRIMAN S. (+1':51".17) AUS – APR (4-E3) 8. (7-11-8-12-11) THAIN Rodig (+2':47".43) FRA –TM (2-E2) 9. (6-12-10-9--12) DINI Fabrizio (+2':50".27) ITA – YAMAHA (3-E2) 10. (10-13-11-10-10) GAUTIER J. I don't know of any US tv coverage of the WEC. PS Mika Ahola is the 2007 world champ on the Zanardo HM Honda team http://www.jollyracing.com/ The Italians at HM build really nice Honda (CRF conversions) enduro machines with lots of super trick bits. Again the nice thing for fans about the WEC is that 4 or 5 brands are fighting for the top of the podium at any given event. -

May come out with my son's RM125, if so will look for you guys near the day use area, correct?? Rob -
Stefan Merriman just won the E3 class at the last WEC (in Italy) race on his 5.5i. Acually proving that Merrimam can still win on any machine. That machine is a rolling piece of Italain art but still is a high maintenance (gal) race motored machine. Also for 09 the chassis engineers did a lot of major modification work on the chassis issues as well ( that bit is direct from a close source). Hope they got the FI sorted out. Aprilia has always raised the exotic/avant garde bar and has some world championships in offroad (enduro) and roadracing (125,250) to show for it. The factory is about the size of some east county garages,,,, very impressive for a cottage company.
