FI after fire on trailing throttle have not seen the R1 do it so much but some of the other brands are notorius on the track for it. Brad et al, Looking fwd to seeing you (or any of the gang) out on the track again,,practice practice practice!! good stuff, I think we have fairly large crew for this one,, possible 3 H cams among us (with one Pro vid guy, Beau) www.promoto.tv, plus my woman will be there with cam in hand. Endurocross

a few other 2T were there as well,,,but the polack (taddy blasusiak) on the works 250 KTM is like poetry, nice pirouette!!! note also how easy it started after the water crash, a quick stab on the kick starter and he was back in the game. His bike is a very purpose built works KTM X-treme enduro machine, shoot that guy won the Erzberg by something like 40 minutes, if he could raise the level of his speed game he would be hard to beat anywhere.

  11. say you will own a vintage machine before the end of the year....

    Pinnacles 7.1.09

shock that seems to be quite normal for the 426 stock or not,,,,,,,I could never keep that running running then it would never start,,,(not mine a friends bike). It was a miserable trail bike in my opinion. I think the WR450 series has cured all the no start issues, so the newer Yam models are great
  13. The CALVMX people are very nice and have a boatload of amazing bikes,,,,there were all kinds of vintage Euro and Japanese machines there. It is family atmosphere with strict rules, of pit speed, drinking, track courtesy etc. My daughter was on her TTR125 and went well around the track on it with no issues. there are some fast old bike riders there, they sound and look great!! CZ, Maico,Suzuki,Yamahas,Hondas etc the CALVMX requires ownership of a vintage legal machine (my kids 1980 XR80 qualified) the track fee is 20 per bike/rider per day. Its open 7 days a week with an advance call to the site keeper Sat and Sun no call needed. That 60 buck thing is if you think you will ride more than 3 times a month pay one fee for unlimited riding. The club fee was a 1 time 20 for 1/2 year 35 per year. there is a very nice pee wee track for the very little ones, The main track is a tight course MX track, geared for vintage machines (read no crazy jumps). I give the MX track a 6-7.5 depending on moisture, but this is Jamul SoCal. It has alot of hard pack under loose sandy top and throttle/brake slide control is paramount it is a very technical MX track for this reason. For me on the 450 it was a tough track a very soft 250 would be better. But again I am a nut and if I am uncomfortable then I know I need to practice that type of terrain. The track is lodaed with esses and sharp turns in low traction surface, very good for bike control. For all the vintage owners I recommend this club they seem to be on the ball and have great intentions for the track and surrounding areas, plus they have a great racing series. PS the actual property is open for limited trail riding as well. R the closeness makes it worth it!

  15. saw and viewed the report, they did some ugly terrain tests,,,better have brought the AA game to the table for that one. They did hill climbs that had top dez pros struggling.....man that sounds like fun

  17. BS, soft plushy non-MX valved forks and shock,,,,no good for the more "modern"* type MX tracks............(me, soft, plushy, heavy, old, too big...no good for the more "modern"* MX tracks) "modern"* spending a higher percentage of lap time in the air at higher altitudes with dire consequences for easily made mistakes. I would like to say openly to the SDAR riders that the track is kind of like the gym, it is the best place to hone your skills in a controlled environment, you can practice all the skills, (acceleration, throttle control, braking, power wheelies, cornering etc etc ) without boulders and trees to interfere. The track lets you find your limits and gel with your bike in a clear environment. Plus for the gym side it is a real stamina builder. enjoy the ride, R
  18. Thats a good one, the photo guy took the all the jump 06 shots in the same place as your 04 shot. I need to scan it and get up on the photobucket page. Although very cool that race kind of wigged me out, there seemed to be alot of carnage out on the course. Saw the same folks laying down on the trail for a number of laps. PS my 06 TE450 was always well prepped and powerwashed, my latest Italian stallion is ridden hard and not as much time to keep her pretty,,,yes she is well maintained/oiled valves adjusted etc etc but a little ragged on the appearance!! Enjoy the ride Rob your Kato is more street legal than my TE (no turnsignals, no horn, no mirror, no DS tires) only brake lite and headlite... PS me? I am magnet for mud!!!!
  19. Just wanted to share these with the SDAR crew. Note the front brake switch was stuck on! (Fake Brake check!)

SUN 19JUL09 at least one Husky will be there
  21. Had a strong feeling that the Husaberg would be found,,,its a hard bike to hide among the usual machines,,,plus there were witnesses that saw the thief truck,,,,,,sometimes sharia law does not sound so bad.
