  1. I'm in! When is it and do you want to carpool? Jon, We (BRUX Racing USA) will be on biz trip stationed in local hotel, we are part of the show, and will be in either vendor row with another partner, or very hopefully with one of 2 team rigs, Factory KTM Racing (Cairoli MX1) or Gariboldi Yamaha Racing (Charlier MX2), thanks for the contact, Rob (so in all cases we are solo)
  2. its all about the indian not the bow/arrow. a pro on YZ80 (or similar) will climb anything any of us will climb, with possible exception of a pure sand steep dune hill, but even that is not even out of the question. You all would be surprised at what my kids 97 XR100 or RM125 will climb with my tank arse (read heavy weight) on it, its all about balance, clutch and mostly WOT position. Nice fotos and vid, good stuff B&B!

    Moto 2 Thread

its on the moto2 teams page see all the boxes for team links. they are all listed here on the Honda site because they are in the Honda 600cc motor spec class. 600cc- 150HP Honda motors are in all the Moto2 bikes. and yeah the mighty Honda has not been so mighty for the last few years in all forms of motorsports.
  4. best thing ever, go to a MX clinic,,, ie Ryan Hughes, Seb Tortelli, Oreste Valenti, Mike Sleeter etc all run MX schools. I did the Marty Smith school a long time ago,,, one day with Marty improved my skills tenfold. right now I would put Ryno at the top of the list, he has all sorts of new and innovative training and riding techniques, I am a subscriber and student of his techniques, as for his training tech,,I am ,too old and mellow for intense training!!!
  5. thanks SDAR I have a new fave at Corral Canyon. fri time line, left Lark after a full day of trails,,,,,,,,,,,decided to go to Corral because other guy found where "the trail" is from a thurs ride,,, we (2 of us) pull up to lower campground @1530 and by 1730 we are on the road out crossing the kernan trail and back to home. "the SDAR trail" is amazing, great job, honestly it was way more than expected, thank you for your efforts that trail rocks. You guys ok with vholder Helmet cam? On way out from lower camp road trail entry the cam man led, on the trail reverse back in I led. Good on ya!!!! Thanks. RN PS just wish it was 25 miles long!!! 25 out 25 back for a 50 miler!!

    Pine Valley / Corral Canyon

great post have not been up there for a while, thanks for all the maps, looks like some good stuff (new or forgotten maybe?) need to go on weekday morn soon before too much heat. Thanks for the post. (new SDAR trail?? where might that one be?? can I poach it??)RN PS black diamonds aside 3A for example (I love the ugly stuff, as some of you know) My fave trail there is still 4, that one is short but has a great flow both directions and has those trees/water crossings and mixed terrain, its like a perfect special test.

    hard clutch pull

a simple inexpensive and from people i know works good, alternative with lever 3 setting to counteract hard clutch pull. http://www.mooseracing.com/catalog.jsp?lev...t_group_id=7267 lube the cable (or replace it with a new one) well first before anything else. start with a good clean slate before moving into hardware fixes.
  16. modern trail/enduro bikes are all good for these type trails both 2 and 4 strokes,,,most regular folks will do best on crf250x, wr250f, KTM250xcw, txc250 husky or the 400cc kato in 4 strokes,, in 2 strokes you have only the euro bikes 200 kato exc xcw ,250xcw,300xcw, wr250-300 husky. that are engineered for enduro , for all the modern (read expensive)machines. as for non currents we are all voting the same the KDX200-220 series with a few minor cost effective mods is one of the best trail bikes ever made. for more advanced riders all the bigger cc machines will be fine as well rmx450,klx450,TE/TXC450-510, 450 530 kato etc etc for the bigger enduro/trail machine....sorry for the hijack,,i now realize this was about riding a trail not what to ride on it. Just trying to add info. enjoy the ride see ya on the trails, RN
  17. looks like a good adventure, sorry to hear the knee damage, hope its not too bad. words of advice if you can (Wil) put a flywheel weight on that YZ and get the clutch set up well, with the transoil a good moto brand, the cable well lubed and adjusted and the plates in good order. Also a good solid jetting setup to prevent stalls. The 426 is tough for technical trail/woods riding in its stock form but can be made tolerable, Am Pro Yamaha team built good ones for GNCC racing. I also have put a few hours on the same model as yours in stock form in the same area of corral trails and after I returned to my Kato250EXC (note enduro model) I told the YZ426 owner I never want to ride it again, on trails anyway. MX machines are tough to ride machines for that kind of stuff, unless you are a top tier pro. In another old guy MX bike story I ruined my left knee up there at corral on another MX machine, the YZ490 (those things were awful) while testing and TRYING to set it up as an offroad machine.....a long time ago......and before discovering the smooth groove power of the euro enduro machines. Be safe out there, we were busy racking up @ 60mi of non-stop A and AA tech trails down south this past weekend. I need to pay y'all a visit on yer new trail sounds fun, gotta be a weekday though, as that place scares me with oncoming traffic crashes I always here about. Hopefully I can stay behind or far enough in front of Bob so if I do crash I can get up before he catches it in a foto!!! enjoy the ride RN other tricks are 14/52 gearing good x-ring/o-ring chain are also options (the heavier chain robs some power and tames the beast a bit) steel clutch plates that give you a new clutch with added flywheel effect to tame the hit. prolly the simplest of all is the chain and sprocket thing for starters, I think your front if its stock is a 14 so only a rear and a good x-ring chain to off to start (with low cash out)

    Acerbis Handguards---help

you can bend them,,,,done it many times, cant explain it ... just put the outside/end on hard surface and push down on the front longer section to get bend into the bent area to hold them out more. bent and rebent many of of the aluminum type ones (Acerbis brand) , now use only full wrap plastic ones for better flex

    first ride back

"do probends and cycra hand guards cause a vibration?" KM530, answer is no , however: they can form a much more solid triangulated assembly. bar mount to bar to guards to guards mount, and it is possible that they can pick up a harmonic vibe, but IMHO its the no flex issue with the mount and strength of the assembly that is the harshness culprit. This can prevent the fat bar from normal vibe dampening and hit flex, I don't usually mention that because it seems a little excessive, but that is the reason I use all plastic hand guards (plus they are lighter). PS my 06 TE450 had the Cycra Probend set up with Renthal bars. Great quality stuff but for me it has a different feel, more solid and harsh. PPS This is all arguable (with no real science/testing) and is based only my personal feel when riding. Its just food for thought for your own personal set up. RN
