retro san diego supermoto
Jaynen replied to socalsupermoto's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
bummer. no biggee we'll do another one soon. my work bikes are 07 and 08 drz400sm's with fresh distanzia's on em. I havn't tried these on the track but they feel great on the street. I'll also bring my tw200sm as well. not sure what's going on with amago, I havn't been there in forever. I figure the asphalt is still half covered in dirt. If they're not using it maybe i can talk em into doing a socal supermoto track! I've got a tentative schedule posted on my website at www.socalsupermoto.com. generally we do wed trackdays, and saturday tours, but groups are always small so there's some flexibility. Cool I will have to hook up with you guys i have the X wheels for my WR250R -

Oregon trail ride on a Husky
Jaynen replied to dirt dame's topic in Articles, Movies, Videos, DS/ ADV Related
Yup, makes me want to go back up to Oregon. Miles of forest like that. My little brother just moved to Bend supposed to be awesome riding there. I think my summer is going to be filled with poopie diapers and cleaning up baby yack this year though. I grew up surrounded by that stuff, cutting my own trails for my little RM-80 when I was in 4th grade, riding logging roads and powerline roads, deer trails etc -

Street protection gear recommendations
Jaynen replied to Beezzz's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
I already look wierd when I walk into a restaraunt during a long street ride day so wearing the MX body armor under my jacket doesnt matter. It's plenty comfortable as well -
Street protection gear recommendations
Jaynen replied to Beezzz's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
I've wore my dirt bike body armor suit under my street jacket a number of times, the jacket has a spine protector but the street gear is more to add the abrasion resistance while the dirt gear adds extra impact resistance. -
Safari Tank USA ( a DS riders dream from Oz)
Jaynen replied to robertaccio's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
Safari tanks are imported to the US locally right here in Oceanside by http://www.justgastanks.com/store/ The only tank available for the WR250R is the Safari -

Camping with GREAT Company

OW has some main "roads" which are kept pretty well graded and flat, then there are some roads that get a bit rocky/bumpy and whooped out, and lots of trails of varying levels of intensity just off the road. Your wife should be able to tool around pretty much the whole area on whatever she is comfortable with while still having the boys able to find stuff to play on nearby. I have a bunch of GPS waypoints for stuff to see out there also. From the poker runs of the last 2 desert rat experiences with Tracy. You don't really need specific tracks because you can ride all over. Blowsand (Dunes), Holmes Camp, Devil's Slide (gnarly jumps guys hit and do tricks and stuff), Pumpkin Patch (interesting rock formations), Gas Domes (some wierd rocks with gas vents), Artesian Well, and maybe some others but definitely a family friendly spot -
Or buy this one http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/mcy/1580334159.html plated CR-250 2 stroke supermoto that would be a pretty sick toy.

The aprilia supermoto is a race winning bike. If you just want a street legal dirt bike for a 10mile commute its going to be a lot more bike than you need or probably want to do maintenance on. If you want a powerhouse machine that will excite you and possibly scare you too then get the Aprilia. The tighter the corners the faster a supermoto will be over a street bike its very addicting to rail corners on one. As bikeslut said a 21/18 tire can be fine especially if you get one of the more street oriented tires but compared to a proper 17" setup its lightyears away. The stock WR250X (supermotoversion of my bike) can scrape the pegs on the ground in a corner stock on stock tires but unless you are going to get into riding the bike more on the street its going to be largely wasted. At some point Pala Raceway is supposed to open a gokart and supermoto track though

I like that the Koerta has the large roost deflector and collar bone protection. I have been very happy with my 661 pressure suit also it has a slightly smaller chest plate but it does have the hard piece as well as foam some of the 661s only have a soft chest piece which is not enough imo. They Bohn sure do look like the Rockgardn stuff

Whats your commute like? If its not a lot of freeway a supermoto works great. On the freeway you'll miss not having a windscreen and depending on the bike it can get wound out at those speeds.

yes, theres a few of us with sumo setups

Was a fun time. Some good racing I didn't see what happened to Short there at the end of the main? Perfect seats and under the cover too

In a small fender bender the old car holds out better but in a major collision the car does not transfer energy well, the new cars crumple in certain ways and slow the impact essentially
-
yeah a vintage track will be the best to start out with

Similar to the dirtbagz I have on my bike looks like. Very nice to have not sure how they would be too low? too low for what?
