    What's Better?

I'll jump on the band wagon and say that after my first serious injury ( tore my ACL, PCL, and LCL completely, damaged my MCL and Miniscus slightly, and damaged the nerve the controls the top of my foot) it's no question that I would have completely mangled the bike before I mangled my knee if I had the choice. Besides the pain and time off work, I don't think my wife would be trying to get me to sell the bike if it had broken.

    Desert Flash Flood Video

Definitely an amazing amount of power right there. All of the debris and erosion made me think about the Ocotillo Wells lawsuit and how the enviro-nazis say all the erosion is caused by people riding out there. A few videos like that should convince anyone with an open mind that our impact is minuscule compared to mother nature.
  3. Is there room for one more teammate on team sleepy?

    Need a little help

Thanks for the help, guys. I want to see if I could find one used that would work first, just kinda need to know what brands to look for. If I can't find a suitable used one, Joe Hauler will be my next stop. The non-drive wheels on it are pretty small, not sure if the rails on that one will work, Slaugo. Thanks though.

    Need a little help

My little girl just got a power wheelchair the other day, I have a carrier for it , but am finding myself in need of another. I had the brilliant idea of getting a double Joe hauler so I don't have to take it off my truck every time I go riding. The problem I am having is finding measurements to see if I can get the chair on it. I need the rails to be 6" or less inside to inside, and 12" or more outside to outside, and I need to be able to have the "open " end of both rails on the same side. Anyone have one they can measure, and if it can be made to work, let me know of the brand and model? I would really appreciate it.

    monday may 13

I'm gonna be out there with one or two other guys around 8. We might join you to avoid an accidental meeting on the trail.
  8. I don't really care what bike you ride either, I'll do my best to make fun of it. I really enjoy Crusty's brand loyalty, his ribbing of anything orange, and the reaction he gets from everybody. I check out the board way more often for this stuff than I do for seeing who's going riding and who's got pictures of where they have been riding. Not sure if that means I "get it" or not though.
  9. Twice in a row when racing there the guy parked next to me went home in the ambulance instead of his own truck - I thought ....hmmmmm Really looking forward to this vintage race, gotta see a Maico....memories! Don't let me park next to you, please!
  10. They tame it down for this event for sure, and the current track layout isn't super gnarly. There are a few places where the fast guys can launch themselves into orbit, but there is either a bypass or they can be taken as smaller jumps for those of us that have to make it to work on Monday.
  11. Post up if/when you plan on going to it, I might join you if thats cool.

    Android to Apple switch

I like Motion X for tracks, but Iv'e mostly been using an app called Maplets. It has a bunch of maps that you can download, like the Ocotillo Wells SRA paper map that was digitized, or you can scan and upload your own, line up the lat/lon, and drive around on it. Kinda make tracks obsolete if you can find a map with the trails you want to ride. I'm due for an upgrade, and when I get my new phone I'll probably use old one as my GPS all the time. Have you found a good mount?
  13. I'm thinking you would have a better overall turnout if you could include all the off road groups for the weekend, maybe just have separate rides for each group? A bbq dinner one night sounds like a winner. Maybe a movie or a band? Vendors? I would try a little harder to make it if there was a ride that took me somewhere I haven't been. I saw all the Jeeps heading out to the Tierra Del Sol thing, what did they do?
  14. Yup, whichever way you want to do it is fine Goofy. Bummer, Brad. Next time.Good luck at the enduro. That does look like fun.
  15. That's awesome of both of you. Somebody should take up Spaugh on his offer, I know there were a couple people considering trying it out. For those of you that don't know, LESAR takes care of the medical needs of the racers, and normally has a couple guys roving on bikes as well as a SxS to transport injured riders if needed. Great bunch of guys, I'm glad I haven't needed them, but I am really glad they are there just in case. That's probably one of the reasons my wife lets me race, my friend's dad went over the handlebars on a trail ride a couple years back, broke 2 ribs and punctured a lung. It took life flight 50 minutes to get to us and that was with GPS coords. LESAR's response time at the races is usually way faster. Hope to see some new faces out there.
  16. Suspect? I heard those guys are all Top Notch! Well, maybe some of the quad guys are a LITTLE suspect. We submitted the course to the BLM about 6 months ago, and the club president and i followed the tracks around Plaster City, there was a little bit of trail that I know I have raced before, some trails I hadn't, and some surveyed routes that seemed to have been abandoned/forgotten. Hopefully it will still be that way and there will be plenty of whoop-free racing. Team races are also a great day to bring out that buddy that wants to give it a try but might be intimidated by the starts. Most of the members of TNR came from the defunct Chicken Bones club, but this is the first race the new club is putting on and we could really use a good turnout.
  17. I like to watch him dominate sometimes, but for some reason I liked watching him get beat by both of the JGR team bikes in the heat race too. I'll bet that messed with his head a little.
  18. I'm gonna stay in the vet class still, not too sure if I am going to make this race now though. I was considering racing in the open class so there was at least enough people to have a chance at some transfer points, but the AMA revamped the entire transfer system, so now all the C riders from all the classes are competing against each other. I think it's going to work out good. Would still be cool to have some more people out for the races though.

    Snowboarding

If you think your "gear" doesn't get much use now, just wait until you have a couple kids.
  20. First race of the season is this weekend. Rumor has it the the course goes up Sand dam and down a canyon called the mile of rocks. The entry fee has gone down this year, too, just $40. http://amad38.com/RaceFlyers/2013_OTB_Sand_Blast.pdf
  21. Should be fixed, sorry. Tried to copy and paste the flyer on my phone, didn't work quite right.
  22. I'm pretty sure the marked trails thing East of Pole Line has been around awhile, but like you said, they can't and don't really enforce it. Also, they opened up about 8000 acres north of the Borrego Salton Seaway (S22 I think?) to OHV use recently, all that used to be plated vehicles only.

    need a small trailer

It's been a couple years now, but there was a Carson dealer in El Cajon that would occasionally have a new 5x8 on sale for like $600 brand new, had 15" wheels I think, and was ~$100 more for a ramp/tailgate. I found their ads in the Equipment Trader, not sure if it's even being published anymore. I was planning on buying one, but decided with 3 kids not too far from riding age that it was a little small. I ended up with my 6.5x16 tandem axle for $1000.

    Barona Oaks is back open

Not too many details yet, but Barona Oaks was planning on re-opening tomorrow. Not sure how the weather will affect that plan, but I am happy to see it operating again. It's less than 10 minutes from my house, and I could clear everything except a couple tables on it. Gonna try it out Sunday, as long as the weather doesn't keep it closed. New Website
