  1. Today marks the first year of the passing of my friend Dennis Sherod. Many of you may remember Dennis Sherod (dsherod) and even participated in the memorial ride. Please join his family, friends, and coworkers in a moment of silence. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Thank you. I dont know if the post about this incident is still around; but for those interested, I have recently learned that the DA finally made a decision to prosecute the driver that drove through the intersection against a red light. Apparently, the DA's office had one year to make the decision and the filing was made yesterday. Thank you for your continued support and be careful out there.
  2. the D606s are almost shot. now needing street tires. not DOT knobbies. please recommend a set.
  3. Hey guys and gals, dsherod, a member of this board, past away this morning. he was fairly new to the board but i know he has at least gone on a ride or two with some of you. He was the owner of a 990 Adventure and 450 EXC. NBC 7 Link this is truly a tragedy as he was a friend and coworker. Be careful out there. I'll miss you Dennis.
  4. i know it wasnt mentioned above but i have heard that semi-formal attire is requested at the service. please pm me if you have any questions.
  5. From the Sherod Family: Words can’t describe how thankful we are for the outpour of support and affection the motorcycle community showed us and our father last night. What everyone did for us made us feel like we could breathe again, even for just a bit, and leaves us with the reassurance that he was relishing in that moment. We can picture the trademark giddy smile he would have had. You brought us great comfort and pride and for that we are eternally indebted. Simply…..Thank You! You’ve given so much and we ask one last favor….please ride safe. Below is Monday’s Celebration of Life Service information. We welcome anyone who would like to attend. Please know that you’ve already gone well beyond what we could have hoped for. The service will be held Monday July 21st from 6pm to sunset at the Torrey Pines Hilton at the outdoor terrace overlooking the golf course. Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines 10950 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, California, United States 92037 Tel: 1-858-558-1500 Fax: 1-858-450-4584 http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hote...ornia/index.do
  6. wow. just wow. thank you, all, for your support. i have been sitting for 5 minutes thinking about something to say. i can't even come up with the words. this is a great group of, not only riders, but human beings. i am very pleased to be a part of it.
  7. thanks for coming, Ken. the plan right now is for riders to meet in Downtown on 2nd and Ash. we will then ride up the 163 to Mesa College Drive and head south on Linda Vista Rd towards the accident site. we will ride through the intersection greeted by Dennis' family, friends, and coworkers. for those that want to stay, we will then park in a church parking lot a half block from the site and walk towards the intersection together. with a single rose in hand. (thanks for the idea Brian) man, i'm getting choked up just thinking about it. the riders will then either present the family with the roses or lay it on the ground. candles should be provided for us to join the vigil.

  9. all, i cant express, in words, the flood of emotions i felt when i visited with Dennis' daughter and family yesterday. Desiree, his daughter, gave me a big hug and i could tell how grateful she was even though she uttered no words. i'm glad she will be able to meet some of you tonight. some of you have asked if there was anyway you could help. really, i dont know how to answer that. this memorial ride sure is a good way. i'd like to thank you all in advance (even those that cant make it...you will be with us in spirit). i'll bring a card for everyone to sign so that we can present it to the family. see y'all tonight Paul

  14. i forwarded this thread to his son and daughter. they are very touched by all the kind words. i believe their intention is to post here and give everyone an update regarding services. i would still like to do a night ride past his son and daughter's home to show them just how many people he has touched in such a short time. i hope you all can come down to the university heights area tonight or tomorrow night or even saturday night. i'll talk to the family and see which day will work best.
  15. i like this idea. i'll see what i can do.
  16. thanks for all of the kind words. i appreciate the idea of SDAR coming together to do something special. we are all just so shocked at this point. dennis was a mentor, friend, and coworker of mine. please give me a day or so to figure out some logistics.
  17. i'm a beginner i'm in.
  18. although i dont want to agree with you, i think it would be safer for me to do so. I'd rather learn how to ride than have to spend the next 6 - 8 weeks nursing a broken bone. i'll get a few more off pavement rides and better tires. i still would like to know where this trail is so i can mob it in my Frontier. i have a DR650, btw.
  19. i am new to riding all together. i have done mostly street riding.
  20. no new tread yet. will i need them on this run? if so i will have to pass as i dont have the time to get them this week. oh and btw, saturday woukld work best for me.
  21. so many rides to choose from his week. i'd like to check out these trails Hammerin.
  22. Just got my first bike at the end of December. 1998 DR650 (new torque limiter, fixed leaky base gasket, and dynojet kit w/ air box mod) on stock Trail Wings. Ridden 600 miles on the street but not much in the way of off pavement riding. 1) where are the easy to moderate trails? 2) is anyone looking to ride this saturday (2/17/2007)?
