Bout damn scared of the thing now :)  Holy crap did that make a difference!  I got some getting used to to do!

It is 100% better than it was.  Still need to swap a rear tire, finish pulling all of the smog crap and get some dirt time in.  Wanna play with the suspension a little on my own first (still at stock settings but I really don't have much time on it).  Way happier already and I still have some tweaking to do!

Haven't ridden a proper wheelie in 35 years; looking forward to getting back on that as well (are 60 year old guys still allowed to do wheelies?!)!

I think yes. I will confirm in A few short years

    Air Box Oil

Now I am questioning if I ignored oil dripping out of the air filter box. A bit of a mess down to the kick stand spring. I wrote it off to excess No-Toil oil. And the intake tunnel was not “dry”.

It is possible I had a warning that I did not recognize .

The motor started instantly and idled . I think that is result of good valves.

I have noticed A little oil in the bottom of the air filter boot when doing maintenance. Hmmm

Wondering if any interest for easy ride on Sunday.

It would be later start, easy trails in mnt Laguna . Lots of scenery and places to stop and chat or catch up.

Laid back atmosphere nothing too challenging.  Starting out a new dual sport enthusiast with street experience and want to enjoy the xountryside , roads like old miners, la posta, and Fred's Canyon.

If interested in Beginner level forest mountain please post up.

Or post about your new project your working on or girl problems you might have below. Thanks

    Noob ride .

     350thumper?

    Are you feeling ok Darren?

    Just kidding.

Good on you to post this. It seems like there has not been too many  Noob rides posted.

Probably not a bad idea. The KTM manual states you need to change a bunch of stuff every 135 hrs. Crazy! I can't believe they expect you to essentially do a complete rebuild every 135 hours!

Looking at the manual before I purchased my 500 exc almost made me not buy it.

At the time there was not as many choices for what I was looking for.

Unless someone does major service on their own bikes the recommended service intervals will be costly....

  6. I have done that and it is amazing at low psi.

I was planning on fire roads and 2 track only since it was my first post rotator cuff surgery ride off pavement .

I ended up riding areas that were not noob friendly.

My shoulder is still there and I want to get  "permission " from my surgeon for more vigorous activities :)

I may have a new favorite tire. I was given a Set of STI Tech 2 pro tires. The front is the same size and looks like the Golden Fatty. Haven’t mounted it yet.

The rear has about 300 miles of slab and 8 hours dirt. Hooks up great in sand and hard pack. Chucks rocks hard behind my 500.Corners and brakes well.  No sign of wear so far.

I believe this tire is going to last like a Maxxis. Cost about $70 Otd at Motoworld.

    Not DOT

I like tire threads. Thanks for the input Kenny

The hybrid does suffer on nasty downhill braking

  8. Tire thread

I was amazed at the traction on my MOTOZ extreme hybrid rear tire this weekend .

Hill climb on loose rocky powder and the rear tire hooked up when I thought it was time to bail.

    Your results may vary!
