    Amsoil

I have used amsoil in all my bikes, with my VTR back in Ohio it would be a seansonal oil change actually could be run for an extended time but there it was maybe 5000 milesmax, (keep in mind this motor takes 4qts)with excellent results I just did an oil change at 35,000 miles. In the 2008 KTM with the new design of seperate oil for the engine and transmission your engine is surviving on less than 7/10's of a qt and the heat that the engine generates will tax any oil so it is important to run only high quality synthetic in this motor. Motorex is a quality oil and about $5 per qt higher than Amsoil and falls short of Amsoil in all of the lab tests done by an independent lab. I change at 10hrs which is close to 500 miles and I also clean the scotts filter seems to be about right. I am running rotella in the transmission and change it out at the same intervals (it always looks as clean as it did when I put it in) the motor oil does gets slightly colored but is viable in viscosity, and smells good but I have never had a motor that runs so hot and I am at least a little consoled running amsoil. I found a dealer and use a 1yr preffered customer membership and get it at about $10per qt I used to get it for $6.50 in 2006?

    TE450 at 3500 miles

After reading of so many problems with the 2008 KTM new style 4 stroke engine, I am glad to say I have avoided many of the problems I have read about. I have 120hrs and 3600miles on the 530. It has let me down on a few occasions mostly due to the lacking electrical system but I have had many hours of riding mostly off road, but it is a dual-sport and this area is optimum for such. Many places in this country are not so close to area's with such a level of riding so occasionally I opt for a DS ride and have decided to go with DS tires(now MT-21front&606rear) and higher gearing(14-48) and for a strictly off road ride I gear down (13-50)and run off road tires(952front and rear). Seems to work good for me, but I am out to have fun, not to impress anyone, the only way I could do that is with an impressive crash maybe but the setup does help me to stay off the ground a little better. All said I am satified with the bike although I think they could have solved some of these problems or admitted they existed? I would have considered the Husky, but I had not seen the husky in any of the enduro's I had ridden through 2007 but you really don't see many 4-strokes, there are a few, but in the really tight stuff they have a weight disadvantage, although now I believe the engine characteristics of the 4 strokes would be an advantage. Mimi told me she researched both bikes and chose the Husky seems to have been a good decision.

    Anza Brrrrego

need a riders line up can't really tell who all rode this one, I guess I missed a good ride, but McCain was OK but windy with no visiblity and a misty rain. Only did 25miles if that? What is the rocky climb called and where is it?
