More stories......I kept thinking to myself, "why are Adventure Bikes not recommended on the Bishop to Mammoth leg?:lol: "........Then I found out :( .......there was a really soft climb about 3/4 of the way through the track.....Jarrett made it up (eventually) riding the big pig.....I figured we'd have a better chance putting a wirey/light 17yr old on the bike rather than Fat Daddy :) ......I rode the 520 up the hill.....I may act dumb sometimes but I ain't stupid!:D

    Chris,

Did you get a chance to ride the Benton Short loop on sunday? Did you find the nasty uphill shell/rock sandwash after the .072 left turn of the main dirt road about 20 miles from the finish that we talked about. This was slippery stuff. Sometimes you have to figure out if the story is better than the damage to the bike.

  2. I have ridden that road a few times in the past year. I have never had any problems with any of the locals and have always thought that the road was supposed to be public. I have ridden other roads that were supposed to be public that have had locked gates across them. Nothing you can do about that sort of thing.

Private individuals, "tree Huggers", etc ofter put up private property signs, illegal gates and fences. The do this to restrict travel. Once travel is restricted long enough, the trail/road grows over, they then remove the signs/fences as the trial is gone forever or it is less traveled. The correct thing is exactly what you did, call and check the validity. I have done this many times, and got access re-opened. Specifically Marroon Valley Road by Otay MTN. I am currently working on the illegal closure of the Sycamore Canyon area in Delzura. This is the problem with the policy of "It its not posted open, then its closed" campaign.

  3. So just how many miles can Crawdady tow you in 2 days :):) .

Hopefully no towing will be necessary.....the folks that rode in the Topaz ride last weekend had to trek through 6" of snow at the higher elevations....trying to tow through that stuff would be NO FUN.....and some of the areas we'll be hitting this weekend will be loaded with a knarly/rocky single track sections....hopefully we'll be able to see what we're riding over :) .......should be slippery, muddy, cold......and fun :D:)

    Looks like fun!

  4. I get it! Too bad maul doesn't. :huh::D

I ,got it, A long time ago ,(most of you are the wrong people for me to ride with.) on any bike! :D

You are correct. I ride a motorcycle, not a Honda 650L keyboard. Don't type about it, just do it!

  5. all of you sallies and pansies should just ride you plated bikes to the trails!

    :tease:

That's easy for you to say. You don't live all that far from most of our local trails. Ride your bike to and from Pinnacles sometime.

I have and I do! We are riding the Bishop 3-day dual sport ride next weekend, and we are RIDING up!

  6. ...or does the DMV have that mileage in the computer for that specific bike now.

I've read it blogged about before that the VIN may be tagged to prevent future registration. Did the clerk look at the title or did they say "hum" after fiddling on their computer terminal?

I agree with Craig. If they "flagged" your vin #, you will NEVER be able to register this in California.

  7. I’d love to go on rides like that but I can’t keep up with you rockets on the street. (or the dirt either) Must be why they are called ghost riders, they are so fast you think you saw a ghost.

Ghostriderz stands for-we ride all day and all night. We ride everywhere and nowhere, and no one knows we ride! We are stealth!

  8. I've been wanting to explore the Bishop area for some time now......"now" being the key word in that sentence.....especially after being up there this past weekend on the road bike.....

Registration is $100 before Oct 1st....$125 after Oct 1st......I'm about 93.875% sure I'll be signing up for this ride.....

Reminder, you need to have your registration in the mail by tomorrow to save $25. I'm 97.456% "in" (note the percentage increase  )......just waiting for the latest news on my son's grades and his ability to get off work that weekend to determine if he's going with me or not.......pretty sure Roger (Strega) is in too.....

Fakey-Namey/Kristi - Are you two "in"? Anybody else?

The "ghost riderz" are attending. We are riding to Ridgecrest thursday night. Getting up early to ride to Bishop for the noon start. Riding a short loop Sunday, then riding home that night! See ya there.

  9. This is San Diego Adventure Riders. A ride is an adventure, not a 20 mile loop. Trucks are fine, but the Adventure includes the ride to get there. I still hope opinions are okay. If you guys want to know what an Adventure ride is, hook up with us "ghost riderz" where there are no trucks/trailers allowed. We ride just about every other weekend at a distance of 200 plus miles of street/dirt.

    "In" :ph34r::D

Any of you "Ghosts" wanna join me on LA-B-V?? Nice ~1,000+ mile round trip from San Diego

Pimped my Ride in the spirit of long distance riding..... "ADV"...."DAKAR"

It looks like there will probably be Qty 4 "Ghost Riderz" doing the LA B V ride this year. We are still working on this. I have ridden this ride about 8 times. On the small bikes, we would truck to Bartstow-then ride to the start in LA. Then we would ride to Vegas, and ride back to our truck in Barstow from Vegas. The last 3 times-Including this time we will be on the Adventrue Bikes. We ride the whole way. We ride to the start in LA, then the course to Barstow and on to Vegas. We have a nice Vegas to SD route via High Speed Dirt/Pavemnent that goes through part of the Mojave Road/preserve. It takes about 10 hours to get home. This ride starts from Jean, goes south and ends up in Mecca(all dirt) by the Salton Sea. From there it is street home via Borrego. It is really fun. When we get it all worked out-will let you know the details.

  10. Don't take everything so sereously DUDE. Hey so I joked you about going to Baja B) SORRY.

This is not a troll, just a reply.

SORRY BUT I LIKE TO RIDE, AND SURF BAJA! ON A HONDA!

    HONDA SUCKS!!

Did i Break any rules B) Just kidding!

Everyone just needs to get out and ride.

  11. Crawdaddy,

In Arizona head toward Globe Via the Mongolian Rim-Awesome Adventure bike route(yes, there is a forest in Arizona). We rode it last year and ran into Sandeigoland! This area is dirt a much nicer than Sedona. Then from there, ride the back side up MT Lemon outside Tucson. You hit the dirt at the bottom wearing a t-shirt, and by the time the dirt ends up at the top-it is snowing.

  12. NPAC Swell: NW windswell will stay minimal on Saturday. Then a steep angled NW combo swell (>300) will rise up on Sunday and sweep the better exposures with 2-4' surf by the afternoon. Monday will continue to see 3-4'+ sets at the standout NW breaks before this energy backs down through the night and into Tuesday morning with 1-3' leftovers.

However; a solid and better angled SSW groundswell (195-205) will fill in over Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and peak late Wednesday and Thursday Sept 3rd/4th with a dose of waist-head high surf at the better spots of the region, standout breaks overhead on occasion on Thursday. This SSW energy will provide plenty of waves through the end of next week as it slowly fades. Beyond that; a bigger SW groundswell lines up for the week of Sept 8th-11th, stay posted

I see that you have a surfboard on you motorcycle. Do you detach the bike when you use the surfboard in the water?

  14. The current system of lets get together, talk to our local officials, organize a rally, and go to meetings has not worked ever/yet. I know of only (1) trail that that has EVER been re-opened after it was closed. Can any of you name an area that has been re-opened? You all have great intentions, but its time for a new strategy!. This strategy is that it is now time to "Play Hardball" or we will all be riding street bikes!!! Jerry Counts of "Countdown"(a ride promoter) has the right ideas..
