Yea Mimi, I have seen some of your vintage stuff in other post. I know you mentioned not much interest to get on a vintage bike. Maybe I will get you to ride one of the events on a Hodaka woman's team, and I will get you the bike to ride.
At Diamond Don's AHRMA National in Texas this year they hosted the Pioneers of woman's motocross. Riders like Sue Fish, Mercedes Gonzalez, Nadine Holbert and Tami Rice to name a few got back on the bikes and tore up the track. Sue said it has been over 20 years since she rode, she also rode a Hodaka in her early years.
One thing I like about competing in vintage is 99% I will make it to work, well when I had a job on Monday. And the people you meet.
Super Hunky and his wife hanging out at my RV with none stop stories.

OK so its really only two days. The ISDT Reunion Ride is hosted by the Tulsa Trail Riders at the infamous John Zink Ranch near Tulsa. What is the Reunion Ride? Its run like a two day qualifier that you would of competed in to try and make the US ISDT team, and the Reunion is the past team members that come. Some of the riders this year will be Jack Penton, Carl Cranke, Dwight Rudder, Mike Lewis, Jimmy Winn and many more.
Of course I will be riding a Hodaka
My bike ready to go.
The weekend includes Friday night Tech inspection and impound the bikes. Saturday will start with 3 bikes leaving each minute and riding 60 to 70 miles of trails with special test.
One of our Hodaka team is Ed Chesnut who worked for Hodaka
Sunday back on the trail for about 30 miles then a 5 lap MX on a natural grass track. Awards are for 3 person teams and individual. This year the Hodaka team will be over 30 riders strong representing the largest group with Husky right behind. They expect up to 200 riders
Last year photo of the Hodaka team, this will be my first event.
I would like to say the camaraderie I get with the vintage is what I fill here at SDAR and can't wait to join in on some of the Dual Sport Adventures. I hope you don't mind my vintage stories. Thanks Kelly
I would like to update the story after the event.

Hey Roger, I had thought about knocking off both Saddle Sore and then adding 500 more to get the Butt Burner 1500 in 36 hr. It would of been more fun to have another rider, maybe next year at the height of daylight savings time I would do it again or maybe get a group ride?

I'm now officially IBA member #34482. I did my Iron Butt ride back in August and received my confirmation yesterday. I did the Saddle Sore 1000, 1000 miles in 24 hr or less. Starting at 2:46am from Rancho Penasquitos to the Golden Gate Bridge and back for a total of 1027 miles, back at 9:07pm.
A rest stop at dawn
My bike is a 03 Ultra Classic
Some directions tape to the tank. I wish I would of took more photos but I was always worried about time and riding at night when I would be tired. I went up the I-5 to the Bridge, down the S-101 to Paso Robles east back to the I-5, E-210, S-15 home.

Ken, I too myself had a feeling A Hodaka photo would show up at some point in the show and was glad to see them. The big thumper s were a little before the time I started riding but I bet they were a blast. I just finished reading Monkey Butt by Super Hunky and had allot to do about that time period and wide open riding spaces.

This is my first post since my Intro over a year ago. I check the site almost everyday and enjoy reading about all the rides and look forward to actually joining in on some rides soon. My DRZ has sat a bit to long and now the carb needs a cleaning. But I did make it to Vermont to visit a friend and President of our Hodaka club. Wow for me being from Socal getting my first real woods ride.
This is me riding one of Paul's KDX

Our group. That's me to the far right
Next weekend I will be riding the AHRMA 2 day ISDT Reunion Ride in Tulsa. I hope to meet some of the ISDT veterans and of course win a medal. Kelly

Hi from Rancho Penasquitos in San Diego. 49 years old and currently compete in Vintage MX. I Started with DS riding about 3 years ago when the Green Sticker area in the desert started getting smaller. I now have a 02 Suzuki DRZ 400s with a bunch of DS mods. I looking forward to meeting up for some group rides and maybe if I'm lucky someone will show me how to use my GPS. I'm semi retired as a stay at home dad to a 3 yr old boy and also have a 15 daughter who rides also. If you my wonder about my name Socalhodaka, I race, collect , restore and sell Hodaka's. Thanks Kelly

No Not at all, I love the old stuff. I wish I would have kept or didn't loose stuff from when I was a kid riding Carlsbad, Mirmar,Palm Ave, Black Mt. All the technology we saw in the 70s and 80s. I have always had a bike since my first when I was 13 but was all my own from a paper route, so I was always years behind. I did alot of flagging at the tracks and hanging around. I just love the history and story's. I can't wait to hit the trails with you guys/gals. Here is a couple more photos.
Jim Pomeroy one week before he left us on a Hodaka at Mid Ohio
Tommy Croft on a Hodaka. Tommy was the only Hodaka factory rider and still lives in San Diego
Dick Mann still can kick butt at over 70 years old
