  1. I will be heading to Buckeye Arizona this weekend to race the first race of the season. The Arizona Cycle Park has a great track and will give a full report on Monday. In the mean time the bikes are ready to go. I will race the 100cc Intermediate class as well as the over 50 age class on a small bore bike. I ride a 74 Hodaka 100cc Superrat.

The bike in front is my main bike and I also have a backup bike. They have a few mods also.

I have a plastic tank, 34mm forks, narrowed seat and for the trick parts I have a aftermarket swing arm, Harry Taylor pipe and engine porting. I will give you a little history on Harry. He worked for Hodaka in the R&D Department and is still trying to make them go fast. We will have his 75th birthday party at Hodaka Day's this June

I'm lucky to know him as a personal friend and great guy helping us Hodaka Racers. I give you the after race story with a bunch of photos. Thanks Kelly

  2. If you don't find someone close to you, we can do it at our shop in San Marcos. D&D Cycle, we specialize in Dyno Tune, Road Bikes and Custom fabstuff. But since I started working there a few months ago and I'm into dirt and dual sport they let me loose. I can give 20% off on just about everything from tires, gear and accessories all the time. We have a tire and balance machine, small mill, pipe and tube bender. For all of my new friends here, even if we have not met yet PM me if you need something. Thanks Kelly

  3. For some reason I have to use my wife's computer to use photo bucket. It's new running Vista and open with Explorer. On my on one of mine with Fire Fox I can copie the photo but when I right click to paste here none of the copy, paste optitions highlight. What a pain.

  4. Just recently I have a ton of problems with copying the photo links on Photobucket? Something about an Adobe update? I did a manual copy of one photo to post but when I wanted to copy another photo it keep re copy the other photo I did first. I want to pull my hair out. Kelly

  5. Hi Christi, I rode with tntmo this weekend can I use him as a reference? I would like just to come and meet some more members. OK maybe bust out a few laps on my Hodaka since I have a race coming up Feb 8 in Arizona and have not rode it since about Oct. I also work at a motorcycle shop. Been married for 8 years and have 2 kids. I would love to have my 16 year old daughter meet some of you women that ride also, she will enter her first race also in Feb. My real name is Kelly

  6. Hey I had a great time at Superstition over the weekend. I now fill like part of the group cause I made it on a ride with other members. Tom "tntmo" and Carlos it was nice to meet you. Hey the family ride to Painted Gorge was cool because all that area is new to me. Just a brief intro to shockandawe, bikeslut and trophunter as they were working on the flat tire. Also a nice little conversation and short ride with XTSteve also. I hope I pass the test and get to join in again. Kelly

  7. I just made camping reservations for the end of June at Pismo State Beach Oceano Loop. Have a wedding to attend in SL obispo and the GF wanted to camp there. I pushed for the SVRA beach camping but was overulled :( since she needs to dress/prep for the event.

I might bring the KTM and sneak off for a ride :P !

There are lots of campgrounds both private and public up there. When I searched for reviews It was difficult to tell which campground they were talking about (except SVRA beach camping)

The North Loop was booked so I had to take what I got :( . The state website says this camp is not beachfront and that it is behind the dunes :)

    10 Questions :( :

    Anyone Camp there before?

Are quads or non-plated machines are allowed in this campground?

Will I be able to see and hear the bikes, buggies and quads while my GF dresses me funny and makes me go to rehearsal dinners and such?

Is this camp close to the SVRA?

Will I have to pay a fee on my bike to get in there?

Do I need a flag? Is it crazy or overly enforced?

    Can I go 90 down the beach :( ?

Should I spray my bike down with wd-40 and treat it like a jet-ski?

Will I be drinking wine and eating Pate with my Sierra Club nieghbors :( ?

How many people realize that you have to make reservations 7 months ahead and call for hours to score good beach camp spots in CA?

I have camp at the South State camp ground, it has H2o and Power but no sewer. The North State Camp ground has no hook-up but a dump station.

the fee at the camp ground gets you a beach enter pass. Flag on Bikes and ATV but didn't need on the truck.

YES Speed limit on the beach but not in the dunes.

The North Camp ground is about 100 yards from the beach entrance, to far to push a ATV so you would need to truck a ATV to the beach. WD40 is good and there is a Quarter Car wash close by also.

We go a couple times a year, its fun for a 3 day get away, the sand is a little course then Glamis and its fun.

This is what I can say about. Kelly

  8. So I thought we would make a day run to Superstition and check out the lay of the land to know what to expect for next weekend. The famliy will be joining a group of old friends there and hope to meet some of you new ones. We will bring our 30 ft class A and so the road looked pretty good and looks like a good place.

OK now for the ride, my daughter Kaylie 16 mostly rides the MX track or the dunes at glamis on her quad so this is new for her and for me I use to ride OW in the 80's. So we pulled up in the flat area in front of tower one, using the Crawdaddy map.

Nice reception, Blue Angles show not bad

    DSCN4721.jpg

Bike all ready to go, So we kinda rode along the base of the mountain and into the sand to see how this big beast will handle it. I must say not bad even with a Dunlop Trials tire on the rear. I need to confer with some of you other DRZ riders on suspension set up, I do have some heaver springs for the front but I have no idea about sag setting and where all the clickers are. This is how I got the bike

After a little warm we decide we need to Adventure, so we will take the loop trail around the back, first stop tower one.

    DSCN4722.jpg

Here we are on top, Ok now we go down to Pole Line Rd. We picked up a couple of the rusted sign but lost them after about the third one. Crossed the paved path to the 2nd tower and then 3rd tower.

    DSCN4723.jpg

Kaylie is doing pretty good. Long stretch of whoops and we look for the cut over after Tower three. Here it is and here we go. I know what some of you Superstition Vets are prolly laughing, but I read alot of post and you all have alot patience.

Kaylie blasting up some fresh smooth sand.

I did have alot of thoughts running my mind on the back side, I left my phone in the truck was the biggest. My child is with me and even on this short I didn't fill prepared after reading all the stories on the forum. We were excited about riding, well its on my mind and the check list is started

This is a great forum and I can't wait to meet as many as I can of you. Thanks Kelly

  9. hey jed i have a 69 ct1 i am looking to restore. Any ideas on where to locate parts, i need the complete pipe and some gaskets for the carb and some suspension work.

Bike Bandit had a bunch of parts listed for your bike, Also when I had a 1972 AT1 I got parts from Speed and Sport Inc. They have the largest Yamaha NOS part inventory in the USA. www.speedandsport.com

I will be stopping by Escondido Cycle Supply this week and will check if Scott has a pipe for your bike.

I have a couple plated Hodaka's, maybe sometime we will get a vintage trail ride together.
