  1. I spent over an hour last night and did my complete final ride report, with over 60 photos last night at about 10:00pm, then hit the button for Post Preview and....boom....no preview, lost the connection to the site. Explanation of that situation and why the site was down will be posted later in the Website Info Category. Ride Orange....great photos, can't wait to see more from the others. I will redo my report and photos, hopefully tonight...gotta go hit happy hour now at the Brig.

    Howdy from a DRZ rider

Hey Zina, haven't seen you in a long time. Glad you're back here with us on the forums. As you can see, it's changed and really taken off. Yep, I remember that Dual Dogs ride in Kernville when you and Chris got lost. Hope to see you soon on the trails !!
  3. No worries. Looking forward to another ride !!
  4. Here we go...... At the Pinnacles Staging Area...Rex Everything and Joliet getting ready My Black/Silver KTM 640, Brett's orange KTM 525 DigDug holding the map, explaining the route The Dry Waterfall, first obstacle of the day, on the other side of Deep Creek.....there was an easy line around it on the left.....here, DigDug takes the left line, as most did.... DigDug continuing on up to the top Ride Orange, on his KTM 625, veers to the right from the easier line to hit a more challenging line up the middle Ride Orange thinking...."was this a good idea"?....but, it was no problem Papaalex unknowingly follows R-O's line through the tougher part Papa has a little trouble, but he makes it through OK without any help Rob's son (name ?) on another orange machine DigDug's son Mickey on the green machine, and Rex Everything on the DRZ 400 Dirt Dame (Mimi) on her mighty, little CRF 150 Rex Everything getting through unscathed Brett and I rode sweep most of the day because we can let the group get ahead and we ride our own pace, with less dust...if we catch up with the last rider, we take another quick break to let them get ahead and we ride dustless again for awhile. Brett bringing up the rear.... That's it for now.....will add more from the difficult section later.........
  5. I'll see you all at the Pine Valley Cul De Sac, be there about 8:30am. My bike's still in the truck from yesterday, so I'm trucking it out.
  6. Here's my idea on the Jo Momma thing and keeping certain topics, etc. out of our forums here at SDAR. I like to send out links to people, friends and even family about ride write-ups. Some people have filters on their computers....especially at their work place, that won't allow them to open some sites that have certain topics, words, discussions, photos, etc. I sent my sister a link to some of my trip write-ups on another site, and she couldn't open the link due to content on that site, but was able to open the links on SDAR. So, I'd like to keep it clean, the way it's been here, for that reason....and the reasons some of you have mentioned already. Our dualsport community in San Diego is never going to be as big as some of the other sites, and seems most people here like the direction we are following on these forums. Also, the original intention of SDAR was to have a site for people to meet and talk about riding, to promote informal rides, to promote dualsport in a positive way, to promote participation in Land Use and Land Closure Issues, and to promote organized, sanctioned dualsport rides. Sound good ??
  7. Yes, Brett and I will be at the Arco at Deer Springs about 6:45am Saturday. I'm gettin' fresh knobbies put on right now, waxing up the 640...not !! Lookin' forward to a good ride !!
  8. I'll be talking with John more this weekend. I think there will be a few options....you can just buy a t-shirt for X amount, or a button down shirt for XX amount. Or, you can donate $$ directly under the SDAR name, and your name will be listed under SDAR as sponsors. Or, you can donate individually....I'm not sure what the terms will be to be listed if you donate individually. Will keep y'all posted with more details.
  9. John's Dakar website is race2dakar.com I started off with a nice amount donated to his race effort in the name of San Diego Adventure Riders. If you want to donate under the club name, there's a way to donate on his site through Paypal....make sure you send a note along with the donation saying you're with SDAR, and I believe our name and the individuals who donate directly, will be listed as sponsors....waiting for more info from John on this. We will be helping sell t-shirts and apparel also. More details will be posted as I get them.

    A DAY WITH KTM

I've been dying to try one of those Super Dukes! Don't do it....you'll be wanting to go buy one within a week !!
  11. Don't know about the first weekend in July either....July 4th is on a Wednesday, so don't know which weekend people are going to use as their extended weekend for getting away. I guess the weekend you decide, just see how many responses you get to see if there will be enough people to make it worthwhile. Don't know how many people will actually go to the Big Bear dualsport ride that weekend, so maybe not many will miss the trail maintenance that weekend. Chime in people, let John know if and when you can help on trail maintenance. John, I've been seriously considering the Big Bear dualsport ride on the weekend you proposed.
  12. That's a great story ? Frankly, I've read comments by others and even had some PM's saying these KTM v. Honda posts are getting a little old. And they seem to originate from the same people. I'm not telling anyone what they can or cannot post, but geez....think about what you're posting and what is the reason behind the post.
  13. Yes, not a good idea doing it on a weekend conflicting with a dualsport ride.
  14. Thanks Chris Doh !! I was referring to the 650L, not the CR500.....CR500 definitely manly.
  15. Hammon, I want to put on a club ride for intermediate to expert riders in the Kernville area, some of the best single track trails in California. Team Dual Dogs used to put on a ride every year, I was lucky to have ridden about 8 of those rides.....Damon from Team Dual Dogs had a reputation of putting on the most kick ass, difficult rides in California. I wanted to try to do it before June, but it sucks that work gets in the way sometimes. Maybe we can do it in the fall after it cools off. I was going to try to make it an organized, invitation only ride, but think we'll just keep it small for SDAR and maybe a few other invitations. Craig, I think you'd be happy with the technical single track which you can ride for most of the day, with some fire roads inter-connecting the trails. Also, I'm planning on going up to the Bishop area over the summer to layout trails for an organized ride next year in the Sierra, and there will be some difficult single track trail options and rocky canyons on that ride.
  16. DigDug, so how much of this ride is actually difficult, technical, black diamond trails ?? If I go, and want to do more difficult trails, are there options I can take and meet back up with you guys on your trails ? If yes, anyone want to do more of the difficult trails ?
  17. Hey Hammon, I think you need to upgrade from that girl's bike and get a real bike....a KTM 950 or something similar, and ride that fast and on difficult trails Sorry, I just couldn't resist

    Looking for ideas

MetalTwister, I sent you a PM.
  19. I would like SDAR, as a club, to adopt some trails for maintenance to help keep them open and also help educate people on riding responsibly and presenting a positive public image as off-roaders. I am thinking a trail in Corral Canyon, and maybe some other trails in the National Forest. I can't do this alone, it has to be teamwork and SDAR needs volunteers to commit to helping over the course of the year. So, who is interested ? I hope we can get a good number of people to commit. First we need people to commit, then it will take some time to contact the land agencies and get everything in place. If anyone wants to help with the relations with Cleveland National Forest and BLM, let me know. I already have the contacts, but could possibly use some help setting things up. Thanks,
  20. From Stewards of the Seqouia...........they are lucky to have gotten Tina Terrell up there as the Forest Supervisor, she used to be the Cleveland National Forest Supervisor down here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT ACTION ITEM Dear Stewards We have it on very good authority about 60% of the single track trails in the Piutes/Greenhorn, as well as numerous spur roads, are included in the draft proposal for trail closure. This draft trail system is not acceptable, but fortunately there is a ray of hope. We recently had meetings with the new Sequoia Forest Supervisor, as well as the new Team Leader for the Trail Planning process. They are both very interested in working with us to revise the proposed trail closures based on documentation that the Stewards Trail preservation committee has provided. However they both noted that they have not heard from many people asking them to keep the trails open to multiple use. PLEASE WRITE A LETTER TODAY We especially need letters from mountain bikers, horse & hikers as well as dirt bikers telling them that the trails should remain open to multiple use & that the work of motorized volunteers is appreciated & necessary to keep the trails open. Tell them why you love the trails. We want individual letters so we are not providing boilerplate. Please take a few minutes & send a short letter to keep the trails open. Send your letters to tterrell@fs.fed.us csanders@fs.fed.us with a cc: to stewards@stewardsofthesequoia.org OR by mail Sequoia National Forest Supervisor Tina Terrell 1839 South Newcomb Porterville, CA 93257-2035 EVERYONE NEEDS TO WRITE A LETTER. DO IT NOW TO HELP KEEP YOUR TRAILS OPEN Ask other people who ride the Sequoia trails to send a letter too. Thanks to those of you who have written letters before. PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER ONE NOW Chris Horgan

Check on the "Informal Rides / Who's Going Riding" forum to keep up on rides, and also check on the "Environmental / Land Use Issues" forum to keep informed of issues affecting our sport and to be involved to help keep our lands open. Rider In Distress......

Kawee, good to have you and your sense of humor back with us. I guess decided to keep the bike !!
  24. Hmmmm.....are you going up just for the day ?? I was supposed to be in Florida for work and then to visit a friend over Memorial Day weekend, but job was cancelled at last minute, so I need to make other plans. I'm thinking about this....maybe for more than one day. Will let you know. Also, I prefer the more difficult, technical trails for sure.
  25. I really wanted to make this ride, but had to work out of town unexpectedly again and I'm flying home Friday night and won't get in until 9:00pm, then have some things to do to get ready for early Saturday morning.....getting there to ride and leave the shop by 7:00am sounds like I'm gonna be too rushed for comfort, so I think I will blow it off. Maybe we can get a copy of the rollchart from one of you, and go do the ride with a few of us who couldn't make it, another weekend. Y'all have fun !!
