    Moab in May

I have another idea.......perhaps we can make this a "larger" event. A few could stay at the condo, and if more SDAR people decided to come to Moab and get their own places to stay, we could organize a bunch of rides for different skill levels......my friend GPS Kevin has tons of GPS tracks and ride suggestions for Moab, so I'm thinking this could be a larger SDAR event, if people express interest. Let's see where this goes !!
  2. John, I'd love to do another trip up north. But, I'm planning on Moab in May, and possibly half of the TransAmerica Trail in August, so I think my yearly big trips are planned for now. BUT, there's always others !!
  3. John, we're trucking up & riding up there 2 days of April 5th & 6th. That's our trip up north for now.
  4. Jeff, maybe nobody replied because it was "off-topic" Anyway, you might want to try these guys also......I used to be a member of their club, but haven't been keeping up on my dues.... Utah Trail Machine Association.......from what I could tell, great group of people who RIDE !!
  5. I'll throw in my own little thread Hijack here I'm probably going to Moab in May, know a guy renting a condo for a month there, and will have some extra space....so, I'm thinking about an Adventure Big Bike Ride there, and hoping to have someone else from SD truck out with the girlie bikes, so we have smaller bikes to ride on the tougher trails out there. I'll start a post later in the Rides Forum.....OK, Hijack over, now back to this thread........... You guys SUCK for goin' to Moab without us !!
  6. This thread doesn't have much to do with Ride Write-ups....well, maybe a couple of the posts. Lots of talk about a party, etc. Not everyone reads all posts, me included.....especially trying to read thru a thread to find out about a party or whatever......sounds like you need to start another thread, maybe ?? If you are worried about your number of posts, I'll start calling y'all Keyboard Adventure Writers, instead of Adventure Riders Then you'll really fit in over at ADVrider, Thumpertalk, etc.
  7. I'm in , for whichever day that weekend you choose.
  8. Hey Chief, one too many beers ?!! The pix are all blurry
  9. Dig, I would suggest you do the White Rim Trail.....fairly easy, absolutely gorgeous scenery along the Colorado and Green Rivers........make sure your bikes can carry enough gas....it's 100+ miles between gas stops. If you can't do that, do the Moab SlickRock Bike Trail......you should have no trouble on the little bikes, we tried it on our Adventure Bikes. See some of my posts in Ride Reports about Moab. Moab Trip Slickrock Bike Trail I'm thinkin' may be going there in May, have a friend renting a condo for a month there.
  10. What a good turnout from SDAR........thank you all for coming. Hope you realize now the importance of showing our support in numbers !! Hope some of you, who weren't familiar with some of the issues we're facing, realize how important it is to stay informed, stay involved, and support the Off-Road Groups. Having the meeting room close to full showed that OHV'ers care about what's happening to our ever decreasing riding opportunities. Please continue to show your support !! Support your off-road groups !! Again, THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ATTEND THE MEETING.

    Saturday the 22nd

Corral Canyon is the closest, especially for those who will ride to the meeting. That gets my vote.
  12. Not sure if I'm going yet, but let me know if you're interested in attending....it is educational, besides showing support for our sport !! If a few people want to go, we'll have to work out the costs, etc. The California League of Off Road Voters (CLORV) is proud to announce that the date for their 14th Annual Lobby Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento is scheduled for April 7th, 2008. Many off roaders come back each and every year, but this year is especially important. This event is sponsored by the California League of Off Road Voters, Inc. (CLORV). The California League of Off Road Voters is comprised of politically active members of: the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) National, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) District 36, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) District 37 Off Road and Dual Sport Divisions, the American Sand Association (ASA), the California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs (CA4WDC), the California Nevada Snowmobile Association (CNSA), the California Off Road Vehicle Association (CORVA), the Friends of Oceano Dunes (FOD), the Off Road Business Association (ORBA), the San Diego Off-Road Coalition (SDORC), which collectively have over 100,000 members. Please continue to visit the CLORV website for more information on Lobby Day as the event approaches or call the CLORV office (661) 864-1158
  13. How about we all go to the meeting on our bikes, then go riding somewhere after the meeting ? I'll post details in the Informal Rides Section. To attend the ride, you must also go to the meeting !!
  14. Most of you have already seen that a few of us are meeting tonight at Boll Weevil in Kearny Mesa at 6:00pm, on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. We're discussing our trip to Sacramento to go riding in NorCal, and attend Lobby Day at the State Capitol on April 7th. If anyone else wants to stop by to meet others, say hi, have a beer, eat, benchrace, complain/bitch/whine, whatever.....feel free. We'll be there from about 6:00 to 7:00pm. I'll have SDAR stickers with me also. Thanks,

I'll have Rollchart Holders for sale also.

  17. If anyone else wants to stop by to meet others, say hi, have a beer, eat, benchrace, complain/bitch/whine, whatever.....feel free. We'll be there from about 6:00 to 7:00pm. I'll have SDAR stickers with me also. Thanks,

    Boulder Creek Water Crossing

The water here is only a few inches deep, so you can't submerge the motor, thus not an issue at this crossing. Only time sucking water into the engine becomes an issue is when you submerge the motor and/or air intake.
  19. People....this is a PUBLIC meeting.......I think there's no reason we shouldn't have at least 20 members show up from SDAR !! Showing support in NUMBERS really makes a difference !!
  20. See you at 6:00. Those of you who want to go to Lobby Day, and want most of the cost covered by SDORC, you MUST be an SDORC member, for $25 a year. I will have applications tonight, so bring $25 cash or check, if you're not already a member. SDAR has a Club Membership, but each individual still should be a member. Thanks,

    Boulder Creek Water Crossing

I know quite a few friends who have fallen in the same crossing on Boulder Creek. It really doesn't matter what time of year, if it's wet, it's slippery. I have taken it many times and have not fallen (yet) . I always go across slowly in first gear with neutral throttle (no acceleration), and ride about 6 to 10 feet up from the downside edge of the concrete crossing. If you went across standing, in 2nd gear, I'd say that was too fast. I think what's kept me from falling there is just going across with neutral throttle in first gear.
  22. OK, we'll still shoot for Thursday. I think we decided around 6:00ish at Boll Weevil on Clairemont Mesa Blvd., just west of I-15, think the intersection is Ruffner....across from the infamous Giovanni's Pizza.
  23. Are you thinking about by yourself ? I've been hearing more bad things about Baja.......it's just not the place it used to be. Mr. Beretta would be a welcome passenger (don't discuss here, go to MO Forums for discussion about that). If I were you, I wouldn't camp unless you're in a decent size group. Also, I think the further south you go, the better it is safetywise.
  24. Well, one out of 6 of us can't make it (Crawdaddy) on Thursday, and I still haven't heard back from the D36 AMA guy about places to ride. I will call him again tonight. If that fails, then I can post on ADVrider about places to ride in the area up there. Let me know if you all still want to meet.........we can do it another night, or just talk on phone or PM's about plans. Meeting is not absolutely necessary.......I'll leave it up to you all. Thanks,
