RIDE TO WORK DAY is Monday JUNE 15th

Well, I rode today to work (last day on the KLX250S as they are picking it up on Wed)! But, maybe it does not count since I usually commute to work every day...
  2. I changed my plan to go to Yosemite National Park on Wednesday, and then ride back through the Eastern Sierras, but something came up (unfortunately) and had to come back to S.D. on Wednesday night. I want to go back in the next tree or four weeks, do the Sierras, Yosemite and lets see what else. This whole thing gets very addictive...
  3. I'm Martin (Husky4me). Using GB007 now, as I recently sold the husky. Anyway, I posted this ride report at advrider and thought I would share it with you all! http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469179 Thanks, Martin
  4. Cool! Thanks for sharing... I plan to go out at the end of the month, hopefully will have good weather...

Front Page San Diego Union Tribune

Thanks for posting this, I hadn't had time to open the paper yet I went back and read it a couple of times and I didn't get that out of the article Martin. I did see the paragraph you may be referring to, but Gardner includes that it is the off road critics that are quick to generalize us. This is a good piece legislation. Although it comes at a substantial cost (doubled Green Sticker fees ), it seem to go a long way toward bringing the OHMV Commission in line and insuring that our registration fees may actually go toward off road programs (what a concept!!!). I'm sending the Governor a quick "thank you" note You are right Rob. I jumped into conclusion when I first read the article. But still believe the writer is not really giving our perpective of the sport in a balanced way. I'm glad Cameron is writing to the paper in response. Thanks Cameron.
  7. Thanks for your response and comments Craig! I'm not offended or discouraged. The reality is that there is some general apprehension about going down to Baja, and I can understand it. Even though I grew up in Mexico, I have my own concerns for safety. In addition, as you mentioned, it is not easy taking four days off. I just thought it would be good to find a group that likes to explore Baja so we can better plan trips in advance. As far as the other rides we posted, the reason we did not have an open invitation for Laguna Hanson was that we had no idea what we were up to (our first adventure going south). The trip to Mike's was a sudden personal invitation of our friends Joaquin and his wife. This time around we felt more confident about venturing south of the border... This ride is not canceled, but just postponed for some other time... Correction: the date of October 19th is still open for plans... thinking about it as we speak. Open to suggestions...

My XR650L now has a split personality........

I was considering doing the same with my husky TE450 (getting the motard setup). I just wonder what kind of trouble I'm going to get riding motard style on the stree! :scratch_one-s_head: I have not checked prices on the kit yet, but will check on the TE forum at thumpertalk.
  9. Seeing that there's nobody interested from SDAR I think I'd like to reconsider plans and dates for Baja exploration... Want to make sure we have a good safe plan in place... Any member who may be interested in Baja, please respond. We can plan some rides in the future, making sure we ride through safe places with appropriate support. :scratch_one-s_head:
  10. Okay, I'm all for it!!! :scratch_one-s_head:

    Tires

I had the Excella OF-219 on the back of my husky, and the tire worked well, and lasted much longer than the stock Michelin 3. I got it online through american motorcycle tires: http://www.americanmototire.com/ I was thinking about buying another set for the husky. But I'm also looking at tires for the BMW G650X which has a dry weight of 318 lb. Continental TK80 seem great and durable, but seem to be 60/40 and are pricey; Michelin Baja seem like a great choice but are also very expensive; Michelin Desert are also expensive; Pirelli's M21 are more affordable and seem fine. Kendals are also not too bad. Karoos are also an option. But this Excellas are super super cheap! Why not getting the excellas for the BMW as I rather pay less and change more often to have fresh tires, than pay lots of $$$. I really want the most off-road aggressive tire, which is DOT. Any other opinions on this???

    CRF230L

went for a ride with motobro, and a couple of other fast guys a few weeks back... 3 DRZs and a plated CRF... driving down a dirt road at 40 MPH, and the CRF drops a gear, gives it some gas and the front end comes right up... me and another on a DRZ are redlining our bikes, and sitting on the fender and tugging on the bars, and getting 6" wheelies. a plated CRF would be great! Well, the reality is that it is the rider and not the bike...sometimes little bikes are able to go faster on single track, if it's an experienced rider. You see some 125 cc beating larger bikes in the international six day enduro races. One time I went riding to Corral Canyon with other SDAR riders. I rode my EXC300, and there were other bigger bikes, but my son rode the little kawi KLX110 and beat us all... Until we got to a place with large rocks and he did not have much clearance. Those honda's CRF150 and CRF230 are like little tractors with lots of low end power. To me they are fun to an extent, but I love the adrenaline of the two stroke or high performance four stroke like my husky. But sometimes, I just want to take it easy and enjoy the scenery. My Honda CT70 was the best for that!
  14. Steve, I'm really interested on the death valley trip for 11/10-11/11... I'll meet for a shorter ride some other time, and I'll be happy to go meet a group of riders from SDAR to plan the trip, meet each other and have some beer...
