2019 New California Motor Vehicle Law

I myself don't care for loud noises or being disturbed while at home. However, with that said, I also do not like AB1824. It is not necessary. As much as I don't like the loud noises, I would rather have the loud noises then this law. I fear that we have become a society that is limiting freedom, personal accountability and independence at an alarming rate. It has very much gotten to where if anyone doesn't like what someone else is doing, they can try to get a law passed to make it illegal. I don't think we need hundreds of new laws signed into the books every year, but hey, that is just me.

    What are these?

Yeah. I contributed $20 at the Tech day in Escondido on Sat, Dec 22. Then I kicked down another $20 on the donate part of the main page on the 10th.

    Yamaha Part Question

I need 4 of these bad boys or girls.... doesn't matter, as long as they're bad (not in the literal sense). NUT - 90179-05003-00 - by Yamaha Anyways, what the heck is this thing called? It is a nut within a rubber grommet, but they're fused together. Is there an equivalent name for these that can be found at a hardware store or on Amazon? https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/90179-05003-00?msclkid=e7e72ccae36d1c66696e70fc54b80a87

    What are these?

    Bwahahahaha😁
  5. What is this, "run," you speak of? I thought this is why we all have motorcycles, specifically ADV/Duel sport, so we don't have to be physically fit? We look cooler on a bike then in one of those hover-round chairs.... hahahaha.
  6. Awesome pictures! Makes me not want to be at work.
  7. Where are the pictures from the guy in the pictures, taking pictures? He looked really into it.

    Yamaha Part Question

Update: Correct, they are called Well Nuts, I learned that after using more Google skills. I found #10-24 at the local Lowes. tntmo, correct, they are off the windshied. The factory size is M5. I also learned they are not reusable. I got a Madstad windshield and brackets, but the factory windshield was in the lower position and I needed my well nuts to be in the upper position.

    Meet and Greet

So, what is considered, "south"? I am not from here originally and I don't know many of you or where the bulk of the members are located. Would the line be from Del Mar?

    Meet and Greet

    Sounds good to me.
  11. Hello, Myself and bradwill have setup an easy scenic ride from the McDonald's in Eastlake to the Tech Day event in Escondido, via HWY 94, Honey Springs Rd, Lyon Valley Rd, back to the 94, 125, I-8, I-15, 78, then to our final destination. Route Map We are both riding big bikes and this is definitely all pavement. Everyone is welcome to join us. I would consider this a Noob ride, you should be confident in road riding, counter steering and some counter balance turns. We are meeting at McDonald's (2254 Otay Lakes Rd, Chula Vista, CA 91915) at 0700 on Saturday, December 22. This is our starting point. You can meet and greet your new forum members, pose for pics, get autographs, and enjoy food/coffee (or not). Kicks stands up at 0800 to start the leisure ride out to the Tech day event.

    LED Lumens and Lies

Kaw'ee, is the Jan 5, 2013 timestamp accurate? You have some weird timestamps going on in your videos. In any case, nice write up for all of us and great videos. Thank you! I did look at the Cyclops version for my bike and wasn't sure if the $150 price point was worth it or not. I guess I need to get out after dark with my lights and see what I think. On a side note, @bradwill and I were talking about how it seems like most motorcycle gear and accessories are around $500. All these little gadgets, tools, tech and toys start to get expensive really fast.

Welcome to the forum. I have both, small and large bikes. Looks like I should be asking you to take it easy on me (with the big bike).

    LED Lumens and Lies

Thank you for this post, Kaw'ee. Did I miss what brand you selected? I actually changed out my lights recently too. Pictures are below. As you mentioned, I found that there is so much misadvertising and confusion out there on the interwebs. I spent a couple hours reading, watching youtube videos, reading reviews and still was confused and unconfident in my purchase. I ended up going with the Lightening Dark Nucleus. At first, I wasn't really, 'wowed', by them. But they have grown on me. I don't really ride at night so I can't say with any authority as to whether or not they are a step change from the OEM. But at sunrise/sunset conditions, they seem to be an improvement. I even notice them during the day when they reflect of of street signs. As of now, I would buy again. I can't say that I would recommend. I just don't know enough about lights or have enough time with these to do that. I will also disclose, if you have a Yamaha Super Tenere, the dust or element covers wont fit with these lights. Please Help a GoPro Noob

Hi there Amgems, I picked up a Hero 7 Black and a DJI Mavic Air. I am no expert but here are some thoughts to consider and tips to try. Resolution: I think most people will say to film in the highest resolution you can. 1440P is more than 1080P so you will get more pixels per frame, in theory, this should provide a better quality image. However, you might be limited to 30 FPS in 1440P to where as, you might be able to get 60 FPS with the 1080P. The more FPS, or Frames per Second, could smooth out a fast action scene and makes slowing down video smoother. I tend to limit my footage to the best settings of my lowest performing equipment if I am going to blend footage together in a movie. It makes it a little easier for me and I find it makes the overall image quality pretty seamless. 1080P will probably use less space than 1440P video, so take card capacity and card performance into consideration as well. I find that the GoPros look outstanding out to about 4' maybe as far as 6', but then I think they tend to get soft very quickly after that. If your camera has Protune, I would turn that on and change some setting in there to get the best picture quality. There are a couple videos online about that. To remove fisheye, you need to set the FOV to linear. I would set the min and max ISO stops to 100 (not good for low light). I would put the sharpness at medium at the most. If you plan to do a lot of post editing of your footage you can change the color correction to flat, otherwise the GoPro Color is fine. Zoom: I haven't played with the zoom at all. With such a wide field of view, I don't know much zoom is available. I am assuming all zoom is digital, so it will probably distort the image. Mounting: I don't know if the White edition has hypersmooth image stabilization. If it does, then you can mount the camera pretty much anywhere. If it doesn't you will want to mount it on your helmet or on a chest rig. Without hypersmooth, I would avoid mounting on the bike without a gimble. The little sticky mount surfaces seem to be pretty solid and cheap, so you can bury you and your whole bike in them. I would encourage having something be close up in the frame, be it part of your helmet or part of the bike. That is part of the trickery, if you will, that GoPro and others use to make the footage look epic. Like I said above, up close, the footage is excellent, beyond 6' the image quality softens a lot and increasing sharpness doesn't help. Orientation: I can't help you there. I only shoot landscape. I know that 4:3 is making a comeback, why, I don't know. I am sticking with 16:9 aspect ratios. Editors: I use Adobe Premier CS5.5. It is expensive and way more capable than I am. It is nice to have so much horse power at my finger tips though, just got to figure out what to do with it. I have made a few simple videos and posted them on YouTube, just messing around. I am looking to do more. The GroPro videos are in a MP4 codec. So most modern editing software should be able to handle it without issue. The only good thing about the GoPro editing software I found was the free, royalty free music clips. I ended up keeping those and ditching the rest. I can't really recommend a program for you. I like what I use and don't have a need to change. The latest version of what I use is a monthly payment or subscription based, so you never stop paying for the software. If you are interested, here are a couple little things I tossed together. No wow factors or award wining content.

    Super Tenere Clutch pull

Hello, So I am wondering how to best go about lightening the clutch pull on my 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere. It is a hydraulic clutch. I really start to notice how heavy it is when stuck in city driving. Around my neck of the woods, there is a stop light or stop sign just about every 10 feet or so it seems. I have awesome luck as I typically get to stop at all of them. Sitting at a light for 2 minutes, no joke, waiting for my turn, if the light sensors even detected me, it can start to get pretty fatiguing in my hand after a while. What am not clear on is if I need to upgrade the hand lever return spring in the master cylinder or if I need to go after something else? I have felt other hydraulic clutches on bikes at the stores and it seems like there are several out there that seems to have a lighter easier pull. Maybe I just need to man up, eat more spinach and grow a pop-eye left forearm?

    Super Tenere Clutch pull

That sounds like a good idea. What is your availability like? I am free almost every day between now and next Monday. I just have to take my boy to the DMV tomorrow and find sometime to practice driving with him. Judging by your videos, can I invite myself over to your place? Hahah. It looks like you are far better setup than I.

Can I use this for fuel?

Couple things: I think that fuel stations have signs that say it is unlawful to dispense fuel into an unapproved container. I also believe that the fuel cans are limited to 6-gallons. (I could be wrong). I would strongly caution against using any device that is normally associated with food/beverages from storing fuel. There are many reasons for this, but predominantly, you don't want a loved one to accidentally take a swig of gasoline. Young kids don't know better and are at the greatest risk of finding and drinking gasoline in a container that looks like it is for a normal drink. If you choose to ignore my caution, fine, but please very boldly and clearly label the container you store fuel in, make sure to include the skull and crossbones, the words, "Do not drink."

    New Bike - Ducati Multistrada

Welcome to the forum. Did you get this version of the bike?
  22. I picked up a new Gopro Hero 7 Black and a DJI Mavic Air. Took my boy out for an afternoon ride and messed around filming with both. Patched together a little 1 minute video.
