  1. I’m gonna spin up a half day tomorrow/ Saturday on the new to me skinny bike.
It’s close and easy at Otay Mtn.

Im on a 450 and looking to just get aquainted with the bike. My prior ride buddies have fallen back to “maybe “ status so I thought I’d throw out an invite.
I’ll be at the Jamul gas station at 8am tomorrow for an approximate half day ride.
I don’t know the single track trails at Otay, so am open to ideas and suggestions.
current plan is to hop in at the pink gate and see what happens from there. Might go past Marron Valley and over the top to 94. Don’t really care as I’m just looking to make friends with the KTM.
If you want to join me and spin up a few miles just reply here or be at the gas station by 8 am.
    Cheers.

If you come and have trail suggestions, I’m all ears.

  2. OK ok ok already.  I'll give it a go.

I don't know if the 1250 GS is pouting, or just relieved.  Maybe a little of both.  But I put a splash of orange in the garage.

Like a salmon swimming upstream to it's first home, a certain members KTM returned to La Mesa and took refuge in my garage. Am looking forward to exploring desert and single track with a more appropriate machine.  Am looking forward to getting familiar with this thing!

  3. rode it both ways on March 13 and March 16.

Both trails were in excellent condition.  The sand on Compadre was reasonably packed save for about 2 or 300 yards of freshly graded dirt fluff (which should be packed by now).  The river crossing was only about 8-10" deep and had firm grip, no slime.

ValleT was in the best shape I've ever seen it.  The normally DEEP ruts in the corners were pretty filled in.  I would happily take Noobs on it (and did).  I'm always on the 1250, pulling other 12xx's, 890's, T7's behind me.

My only caution would be to always ride right.  Never left. Especially in Baja.  And if it's raining, skip Compadre altogether unless you want a story to wright about when you get home.

    Have fun guys!

  4. If you’re talking this … https://maps.app.goo.gl/AvsZBZfKBX9X1nNm9?g_st=ic

, I rode it both directions a couple weeks ago. It’s in very good condition and the ruts are minimal instead of the normally deep. I don’t recall any sand worth mentioning on it.
I was on my 1250 GS.
The view from the summit is fantastic and everything is green! A couple shots from our group

When you think of doing your trip June - July? I would like to take four wheel camper. But don't count me in yet. I may need more push bike riding

Push bikes always lead to looking malnourished and wirey. Clearly a bad look for men our age. You should abort current mission. Leave the bicycle to some poor village kid and fly home. I’m sure @DSM8 will help you clear the mice and cobwebs out of the crusty Katoom and start parading around the desert with the rest of us under power. We eat donuts and Julian Pie ala mode and drink beer.
This prescription will have you back to normal and you’ll have Rosie cheeks again with a proper little pot belly like the rest of us.
Nowhere is it written that you have to punish yourself this way and  if you insist, I will gladly clear a spot in my garage next to my own forgotten pushie to keep yours happy and retired.
Please act your age Kkug…… and send more pictures.

  6. I really enjoyed this 7 part YouTube series.  It reminded me of the mystery and wonder of discovering Adventure riding.

The early years of our sport . . . any sport really are filled with excitement, discovery, hard knocks and hopefully success.  It's the honeymoon period and is often the "best" times of the adventure.  I both miss these times, and enjoy the present and hopefully my future moto adventures.

Hope this series makes someone here smile and remember the "dumb" things we did and risks we took when we were young and broke.  Good stuff.

  7. Forgive me if this has been posted earlier (I've been out of pocket quite a bit this year), ... The movie is playing at San Diego BMW Motorcycles this Saturday night at 7pm.

If you want a good look at the route this would be a great place to see it before it finally gets to YouTube about May.

    I'll see you there!

I figured someone here knows about this.  I saw it on a restaurant doorway in San Ignacio a few days ago.  Too funny!  Is that Krug?

I need a refill on my Kugg stash. Spent 2 different nights in San Ignacio last week. No Kugg sightings though.
The kids particularly in Baja Sur’s fishing villages  all want stickers when you roll through. I thought Kugg would either thrill them, or scare them.
Am going back in a week, if anyone has some extras they could “loan” me, I’d be happy to pick a few up. 8-)
