    '04 1150 GS air filter

Just need it to keep gravel out of the intake. Anything smaller is called roughage and is proven to be good in ones diet. Keeps ya regular.

    Happy Thanksgiving SDAR 2016

Way to go brother! I want to know if you mastered turkey, gravy, potatoes, stuffing and pie all done on your cook kit. If you did, I'm going with you next time.

    Happy Thanksgiving SDAR 2016

In the short time I've been 'here' I've made new friends, done a few off road rides and learned a ton about the dark art of pig wrestling on broken pavement, gravel and sand. Life is good. Thanks a ton to this group and my new friends. You know who you are.

well I'm just a n00b to the group, but already have found many new friends. And we actually ride together. What's not to love eh? As I do more interesting rides, I'll be sure to post up reports with pics.

    Informal GPS course?

Someone pick a date, preferably after Thanksgiving for me, but I could flex if needed.
  7. ..... OK! I'll bet there'll be a good list of folks signing on for the re-do.
  8. Bummer, us new kids in the clubhouse can't see the pics in this ride report. I imagine the pic links are all 'broke' cause they were taken down a half dozen years ago.

    Informal GPS course?

Well I've been lurking on this one. I'm highly interested in learning the dark craft of gps navigation through cryptic gpx exchanges and mystical formats whispered in the backrooms of secret forums. But I don't own a unit. Kind of hate to buy one too if it's to become one of the many doo-dads that sit in a box in my garage decaying into obsolescence. Now a certain Seniore here has loaned me his 'extra' and I'll dry run it to Flagstaff and back in the car over Thanksgiving, hoping to find it usable for a future strike south of the border. In short, I'd like to learn a thing or two about this stuff too. My brewery is temporarily down due to fermentation cycles but that doesn't mean folks couldn't BYOB. The fire pit area is ready for a rousing group lecture and I have plenty of bike parking available. I offer my humble abode for use as the classroom. Let's do this thing. The hard part will be picking a date that works this time of year, but I'll bet we can figure it out. I'm in La Mesa at the base of Mt Helix. What say ye gentlemen?
  10. Definitely maybe...... trying to lock it down and will let you know.

    Super moon Sunday

Knucklehead!! I think I'm actually getting the hang of the big pig in the dirt. At least I'm having a lot more fun anyway. And my first dirt ride with no falls. I guess I wasn't trying hard enough. Thanks Jim.

Another good one from the AMA!

This would be worth researching. I can't remember actual details, but when Bill Clinton/ Al Gore where in office there were many people in Idaho and Colorado (my two other 'home' states) that were livid with the massive loss of riding area's being proposed. Locked gates shutting off 1,000's of miles of mountain fire roads. I don't know if that was an issue here in CA. It may have been an Al Gore agenda - one can imagine that based on the course of his life since.
  13. As long as I can raise one up and ride the hell out of it....... ok.
  14. Hmmmm. I think I need to assemble a kit for this use. don't know that I'll ever need it, but I can just imagine needing it badly and not having it.

    Left a treat..

Please tell me you DID set up a trail cam so we can what manner of chaos happens later that night. Should be a critter frenzy. And who....... mind you, carries a YellowTail carcass into the back country for just such an exercise as this???? Dude, that is messed up. And I'm laughing my arse off!
  16. you guys are running me into the dirt. Poor old GS just can't keep up. Weirdrider and I had a discussion on the finer points of ride etiquette.
  17. I'm just sitting in the driveway revving my motor for another 25 minutes til I can head over to Wierdrider's
  18. Ian - thanks a ton for putting this day together. I had an absolute blast! Plenty of tread burning twisties, good hard pack dirt road and sand sand sand. Maybe I'm strong on the sand part because I got plenty of practice picking my bike up off it's side. HOOT! It was my first experience with sand and it bitch slapped me a few times, but I'm learning to roll on the gas instead of succumbing to the fear reflex. Lots of great guys and great bikes, and I definitely have a few new friends I can't wait to get out and ride some more with. Ride on!!
  19. Ian, thank a ton for putting this together. I had a blast and it was exactly the kind of riding I've been looking for. Great pavement, great dirt roads and enough sand to toss me and teach me a few things about how to handle a big pig in the sand. Good times. Thanks again.
  20. Hey Wierd* I'll meet you at Sbux at 94 and Avocado by 7:30 am.
  21. Hi wierdrider I'll ping you in the morning for a meet place to ride from. I'm right around the corner on Helix
