Is there a start time and location for riders to meet? A lot of rides met at Packards ( no longer Packards) at Seventh and Main. Will you be stopping before the top to enjoy your barley pops?

These rides were very last moment for me. I’ll give a heads up when I can plan ahead 👍

Lusardi is an and back, no more difficult than Black Mountain TT, or Santa Ysabel TT., but it has some beautiful under the tree paths.

Mike Tripes works out of his garage. I believe he was a KTM race mechanic, not positive about that though? He did my valves, and I had no problem. He’s in El Cajon, off of Murray Dr.

I decided to get the TT 250 R out this last weekend. I took off mid afternoon Sunday heading to Ramona, stopping at Mr JaJa’s to say hello. It was great to see, and chat with Udo👍.
I then headed to Lusardi TT, for a fun and beautiful out and back ride. On the way back down Lusardi, I thought I might try and go up towards the mine since the pipe gat was open, but decided not to try it solo.
After Lusardi, I went up Black Mountain TT just a little past Santa Ysabel TT, deciding to go ride Santa Ysabel TT instead of dodging jeeps. I rode the beautiful TT to Black Canyon rd, where I took a water break under the trees before I turned around to go back the way I came. I then headed back to Lakeside to have dinner at my daughter’s, and crash at her house.
Monday, I decided to go back and head to the top of Black Mountain.
I took a couple photos beforehand to share where I went, and my destination up in the trees.
As I rode past the parking area by Orosco, I saw someone on a dualsport. As I started to ascend the mountain, the dualsporter caught up with me, so I pulled over to let the faster rider by. He stopped to talk first, and I asked him if he knew of SDAR ? Yes he does, and we realized we had ridden together on my third SDAR ride, the infamous "BOOB RIDE"!
I became one of Jessie’s subscribers after that ride.
Fond memories 👇
After shooting the s**t for a bit, we headed towards, what Udo calls the party spot. Jessie was nice to slow down here and there, so I felt like I was keeping up😁
We hung out at the top for a while, talking motorcycling, and enjoying the beautiful views and wonderful breeze. After some good conversation and hydration, we got back on the bikes descending to Santa Ysabel TT. After traversing the TT, Jessie stopped under the trees where I had the day before to decide which way he would ride. I rode up Black Canyon Rd. to the East end of Ramona and through the Estates to ride back down Wildcat Canyon to Lakeside again to enjoy another evening with my daughter, son in law, and friends.
Hope you all had as nice of a weekend 🍻Wierdrider

I have a Yamaha 2002 TTR 250 that’s plated and enjoy it thoroughly. My 2004 KTM 525 that has been down for way too long, but it’s a whole lot better at freeway speed.. The Yamaha does 65 mph, but feels real comfortable cruising at 50-55 much better. I always say that the Yamaha puts a smile on my face, and the KTM keeps it there😁
Comparing the DRZ, and Exc I’ll presume, you’re gonna have less weight and maybe a kick starter, 6 speeds, but shorter maintenance intervals with the KTM.
Good luck with your quest👍
