    BCSGTPLSH Ride

Great ride, Gents! Here's the track. Check out my ViewRanger #adventuremotorbiking track - total distance 88.98 miles. View it here: http://my.viewranger.com/track/details/Mzg2NTQxMA%3D%3D Inserting photos individually as well ... The gang up at Inspiration Point ... before Bags started hittin' on an 80 yr old Cougar ... I mean hiker. She was smokin' hot. CVRick helping a thirsty plant. What a guy. Pumpkin Patch. Drop Off. The Blowsand Canyon trail leading up to this was incredible. I love my dirtbike. And my dirtbike loves me, too. It's a pretty cool thing. Moto Porn ... worthy of a page in a Calendar shoot. Huge shout out to Bags & CiD for showing me the ABDSP ropes. Over the last month we've logged a solid 300+ miles. I've tracked every ride with the ViewRanger app, then uploaded into Locus Maps where I keep the CA Trail Map data so I can see the names of trails, etc. The radar looking icon is my house in Poway. All the blue lines are tracks we've laid down. Pretty friggin cool. THANKS DAVE & CHRIS! Looking forward to many more miles.

  13. I took my youngest son to the Dunes this weekend. A huge group of friends got together for the "kick-off" weekend. Perfect weather. No 'mechanicals'. And had the time of my life with my youngest son who is almost 10. Riding, eating, campfires, and playing the Star Wars version of 'Trouble' (we musta played that board game 20+ times). Feel so blessed to be this guys' Dad. And he absolutely RIPS a little 2 smoker 90cc Polaris. He even made it out from the Washes to Olds. He's been riding since he was 3 and does an incredible job reading the terrain, modulating power, shifting his weight around ... all just natural. I rode mama-bear's Honda 400 EX (indestructible quad) most of the time so we could ride together, but I also brought out my 500 EXC for the first time to the dunes ... with a 10 cup paddle, baby! I know it's an enduro, but OH. MY. That paddle, and this bike, and that sand ... it was magical. The front wheel did NOT want to stay on the ground. I'd previously sprung up the bike 2 spring rates with George's suspension magic, but I even cranked and went harder a couple clicks on front rebound. The bike handled like a dream. It was plush, and smooth, but snappy ...and the bike just pulled and pulled and pulled on the top end. I've ridden plenty of standard race bikes out there ... CRF450R, YZ450F, CR500 ... and NOTHING compared to the feel and performance of this bike. It was HANDS down the best bike I have ever ridden out there. We'll be back!
  14. We've been going out for years as well, but as my kids are starting to enter High School it's definitely harder to get out there together. I see what you guys mean. And reading your guys' posts encourages me to make that extra effort to "make it happen". In fact, there was one family out there last weekend where the parents were in their early 70's (the patriarch could drive a MEAN sand car), and their 3 grown adult kids were all out there with their spouses and kids (7 grand-kids). It was really cool to see. We love to do other things with the family, like road trips and beach camping, but there's just something about dry camping and riding that's extra special.

    Rally

It is spendy. Why not do both? If this is really just a 'user-friendly, unofficial, get together and have fun" kinda thing, then why not have both options? Have a fancy expensive race-book option for the people who want that experience, and a simple GPS track for the cheap guys like me. We can always give the race-book weiners a bigger trophy.
  16. Damn, that 950 SE is a sexy bike. They need to re-vive and re-make that bike.

    Rally

Maybe our club here on this forum should put together a 2-3 day So Cal Desert Rally and cloverleaf out of ABDSP. Having facilities/food/gas in Borrego would be kind of nice. There's got to be at least 150 miles per day of riding in a NESW direction right? I'd definitely pay a nominal entry fee for something like this.

    Rally

Wow. That is spendy for sure. Any reason we couldn't ditch the spendy and confusing roadbook option and go with a simple GPS track provided by Race Control? There are tons of inexpensive and effective GPS options for riders ... and most riders already have a GPS solution.

    Rally

100% interested. Love following Dakar and just getting into the Baja rally. Don't have the fairing or comms equip they use, but I've always thought the race formats were awesome. Would love to learn more.

    Tank size - Steering Issues

I'm riding a 2013 KTM 500 EXC and I currently have the over-sized 4.1gal Acerbis on the bike. I've done everything possible to get rid of a slight "push" in the front end (countless conversations with my suspension guy@Suspenders ... huge shout out to George) and I'm heavily considering going back to the stock tank. Has anyone experienced a significant steering/handling difference on this specific chassis when going from a stock to over-sized tank, or vice versa?

    Tank size - Steering Issues

Out in Ocotillo / ABDSP what do you guys run for PSI? I run about 14 psi.

    Tank size - Steering Issues

Copy that. I thought there was also a 100/90 but I guess not. I've already got the 90/90 front so I'm 90mm W and 81mm H right now. The 90/100 would give me 90mm wide and 99mm Tall. Wow. That's almost 20mm taller than I am right now. That wouldn't do anything for steering right? Just maybe a lot beefier front tire I could run lower PSI with for more traction?
