    inReach vs SPOT Field Test

Thanks guys!! Ya, the PLB is the real deal. You push that button and all heck will break loose to come and get you. I have lots of work experience with them and they are great piece of mind when you are in butt tingle nowhere. But that is their sole purpose. That is why I like the inReach, it has the SOS feature but it has lots of other features. And i trust it that it will get the message through. One other feature that I like of the SOS on the inReach over others is that when you hit it you will be able to communicate with the rescue centre. This will do wonders for keeping shock at bay. I could only imagine laying there with a broken leg watching the SPOT blinking at me. I think I would lose it. Back in the early-mid 2000's the Globalstar sat phones were working great, then they just kacked up here. The satelites were rotated somewhere else and we had horible sat phone coverage. Even still, my Sirius Sat Radio works better then the SPOT. As for the Globalstar sat phone, I traded it in years ago for an Iridium. And now the inReach has become part of my kit for most of my activities - moto'ing, hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, hiking, it just comes along. Plus it looks cool too: Glad you guys found this little test interesting!!!
  4. Hey there folks. I shared this field test that I did the other day with one of my good friends down there in San Diego and he invited me to post it up here to share with you guys, so here it is: http://www.dualsportbc.com/forums/showthread.php?13865-inReach-vs-SPOT-Field-Testing It is with appologies that I post up pictures of frozen rivers and snow. Not my intention to chill things off down there, but I will admit that I look at the Baja section quite a bit and dream of warm off places And just to save anyone the "Where the **** is Smithers??" question, I live in Nothern British Columbia. So if these things can work here, they will work in most locations. I have to say that the results of my little test blew me away, I knew there would be a difference, but I did not know that it was going to be that drastic!! Hope you enjoy the read.
  5. Just down the road from my house . Not many roads are open yet, but it stayed above 0 overnight for the first time so i know what i will be doing on my lunch break

  8. Oh we were so close to making it down!!!! I was so excited to try and ride in some sand and something other then greasy mud all the time. One day...... And the weather is looking like it is supposed to break at the end of this week. The highs are +2, so that is go time. Time to seat those rings. But today is nice as well, it was only -19 this morning Looking forward to another riding season!! WOOHOO!!!
