  1. Need to be home around 2ish, to get ready for a gig up North

Taking a day off from work and would like to ride somewhere locally... Otay/Lark/Corral/Jacumba

anybody off that day, unemployed, underemployed or down with the flu?

Low intermediate ride; pace not that big of a deal... I'll be taking it easy for the most part

I'm def.interested. Let me know where you decide to ride. Where are you giggin?

  2. Titled "Powder Day" my first thought was Powder Sand and No Thanks. I get first tracks and Oh Yea. :D/>

Some of the pics not sure of , rock slides of rideable trail?

I guess had to be there.

    Looked fun...

    Definitely was fun!

I should have explained the pics especially since I am no photog. The especially bad one with the sun shining into the lens, is my favorite descent in the area, so I had to throw it in there. Its one of those where no matter how much you brake you continue to gain speed and just have to try and go with the flow.

The last two are just pictures of a trail we got first tracks on.

  3. This is what I give to the guys who ride with me:

Mexico travel insurance: For those interested in travel insurance, I've come up with an easy option. Liability is about $12/day and full coverage is $15/day. You can take a look and see if you want it (I never do get it). You can pay and print out the policy on-line:

If you plan on being in Baja more than 4 days a year, it may be cheaper to buy an annual plan for about $95.

That's actually who I called. Their rates are good. My problem is $90 x2 for the motorcyles plus an annual of $149 for the license insurance for the cages. I was hoping to find a license policy that covered cars and motos.

  4. Does anyone know where to get mexican insurance on your license that covers motorcycles? In talking with one agency their mexican license insurance (liability only) does not cover motorcyles.

I should clarify, they do not offer 1 policy that covers both cars and motorcycles. I would have to buy a policy for autos (because I occasionally drive to MX) and a separate for the moto.

I'm looking for MX license insurance in which I could drive either and be covered.

  5. always ready to bail to the right!! be safe out there. one more thing why is it i always hear about the other folks that cause the issue. but who the heck are they?....just like left lane freeway blockers everyone complains so who are the culprits??? again be safe out there, blind left never cross center, blind right keep tight to right edge.

single track.....thats a tough one, do the overview sound listen before heading in. we all know our responsibilities to others and to ourselves. PS racing and special event trail riding is a fun way to ride with a lot less chance for oncoming traffic.

I would say there is no "they". Its all of us. There are only instances of riders exhibiting poor judgement or over-enthusiam. Its not bad riders riding recklessly all the time. Its just riders making making poor judgements. I believe most riders ride smart most of the time, but it only takes a small lapse to create a horrible situation.

Racing definitely seems like a great way to ride. At what experience level do you think it is safe to start racing? The sooner the better?

  6. I did a ride out to Santiago Peak and back down South Main Divide to Wildomar OHV. I took Tenaja truck trail back to Fallbrook and then 76 home. On my way up Tenaja just past fishermans camp, I came across three motorcyclists. The first was older (50's?) On a DRZ supermoto with a half helmet. I came around the corner on my side of the road and he was in the middle of the lane, we both gave each a startle but passed each other. The next rider also on a DRZ sm came around the next corner on my side of the road and had to swerve immediately to avoid running into me. Next I am approaching the next corner on the far right side of the road (inside corner) when a rider on a KTM is cutting the corner fully. I have no where to go, he immediately swerves, locks up the rear and skids sideways with inches of me. If I had to guess I would say he was doing 35-40 when he saw me.

I haven't been that pissed in a very long time. I have never been in a call that close and I have been riding on the street for over 10 years. I could not believe the stupidity. I'm not perfect and I ride faster than I should sometimes but to take the inside on a blind corner by more than one rider was infuriating.

The last thing I read last night was a post on another forum about a rider who had witnessed 2 bike on bike accidents both resulting in deaths. All day as I was riding these one lane roads I had that in my head. It seriously may have saved my life.

    Stay safe out there guys.

  7. Some other plans fell through so I thought I'd see if anyone is interested in a ride tomorrow.

I'm up for anything from Pala, to D/S, to street. Post up if you're interested.

I am interested where and what time you thinking? Palomar on the road W/ my sporty would be cool , I am in San Marcos

I could do a couple of Palomar laps then maybe over to Mesa Grande to Highland Valley rd. I'm in north county too. I may try to get an early surf but then again an early ride sounds good too. I'm pretty flexible. What time works for you?

    What do you ride?

  8. It was really cool to see. I've seen one other one from a distance on a street bike ride I in Colorado. This time it was much closer. I would love to see a montain lion as long as I was on a moto and not a bicycle. I'm intrigued by them but they also scare the hell out of me!

  9. My girlfriend and I were riding (mtb's) off 2N10 in Big Bear, and we came around the corner and a bear was crossing the road. I'm not sure how big it wss but I've seen a 300lb bear that was shot and it was quite a big bigger than that. It kept a close eye on us as it lumbered off.

  11. It looks like there was a few of us doing the same thing 2 weekends ago. Solo trips to Baja. So I thought I would share what waste of time going to Mexico is.

I went down to Ensenada, then over to Coyote Cals and stayed the night, The next day I went to Guerrero Negro along the coast, and then I cut inland and took part of the 500 course to Mikes Sky Ranch where I camped next to the pool. The next day I headed into Ensenada, stayed the night and headed home. Somewhere along the way to Ensenada I got a slow leak and had it repaired in Ensenada

So when anybody asks "How is Mexico?" My response is always "dangerous, shitty, and a waste of time, don't go, Mexico sucks!"

  12. Sorry just got back from a trip to Mexico.

I've been riding streetbikes consistently for the past 4 years and recently picked up a nasty dirt habit. I am an avid mountain biker, and love motos so a dirtbike, made a sense. I picked up a 2005 wr250f in February and immediately loved it.

After doing a long distance mtb race from Idyllwild to the dez to San Diego and back to Idyllwild I decided a dual sport was a must have. A huge portion of the mtb race wss doable on a ds bike. So l picked up a 1999 KTM 640e about a month ago and here I am. Just looking to ride as much as possible.

My street bike is an '09 Kawi ER6-N.
