Nice pics DD! Paul; Nice videos, I gotta get me a helmet cam, that is so cool. Thank you all; DD, Brian, Brad, Paul, Breanna, and Alan, you're a great bunch of people. Dan and I had a Blast yesterday. I'm regretful Dan and I did not spend more time riding with you as a group but I wanted to take it easy on Dan, with it being his first time off road. In my opinion he did great on my XR, he did not crash and he did some reasonably tough trials on it (especially for a 1st timer). We'll get him hooked on dual sporting & trail riding yet. here's some pics ; Loaded and ready to roll getting ready to ride Dan & the Pig a little break after the 1st loop The 500 is actually allot of fun on the trails! Paul and Brad hit it on the spot when they said "It's all about throttle control" It had no problem getting me up and over obstacles and leaping tall rocks or whoops in a single bound or carving up the tight stuff. I really should ride the XR more often because riding something as light as the CR is spoiling me, I am in love / lust with all of the power that things has, It can be scary but I think I'll be okay if I respect it and don't get stupid with it like I did at one point yesterday, the ribs are a little sore Now I need to clean the bikes up (we were so tired when we got home we put 'em away dirty) The last two weeks of riding have been practice sessions so I can get back into it, so I can enjoy another epic Dual Sporting season with my friends here at SDAR. Thanks again Aaron

4 Day weekend, what shall it be?

I may be running a little late..(10-11??). I just finished tearing the XRL apart, lubing up the steering stem and getting it all back together so my buddy Dan can ride with me / us tomorrow. I forgot to get an adventure pass so we'll have to swing by big 5 over on Fletcher in the morning on our way out to CC. We'll head for bobcat and if we don't see you we'll park and get set up. I'll be on the CR500 and Dan will be on my XR, the bikes will be in his Red 2500HD diesel, hopefully we'll meet up with some of you. I'll See you guys tomorrow, I plan on riding until dusk
  4. Feeling a bit stressed lately and I have got to get out and ride something until it hurts. I have Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off. I need a good ride to clear my head. The XR is down right now (need's some steering stem TLC) but the CR500 is up and ready and I'm gonna throw a new tire on the rear of the VMax when I get home from work on Friday. So who's up for some hard riding this weekend?

  6. Thanks for posting up the ride Tree, I had a good time meeting up with you guys. I was trying to be extra careful with the 500 starting out. That bike is a total beast...I can't believe I have not ridden dirt since March, that is so wrong I gotta do something about that.....Like shut up and ride By the end of the day I think I was doing allot better, finally got into third by 2:00 I was so beat I had to call it a day. I left at 2:30 and headed home. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow! Sorry I forgot the camera, the only picture I got today was a cell phone pic I took after I got her all purdy again.

Right hand curve took my right arm

My Brother; I feel like such a "Pile" for not responding sooner, what happened to you could very easily have happened to any of us here. From the quick look I took through the pages here I can see that you are keeping your hope, attitude and strength up. Wow! I can only pray that our Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit keep on blessing you and yours. Never give up and Never give in! Your true reward is waiting, as is mine and the rest or those that believe. Aaron
  8. Thanks John; I enjoyed it too. I also enjoyed watching you cut some laps on my five hundy. I liked the idea of having someone who rides better than me take it for a ride and confirm to me that I picked a good one . I am always up to ride with and learn from people who know more and ride better than me. I adjusted that front brake so the lever mount is out of the way and I ordered an new longer shifter for my size 13's. I am also going to throw some decent hand guards on it too,. After you guys left I was trying to following that kid on the white YZF around the track, damn he's fast!!! I got nailed in the hand by a good sized rock that made my knuckles swell up a bit to add to the insult of getting smoked by a kid more than half my age . 2 Strokes Rock!!!!!

Stupid stuff you did & never sued anybody.

Hi Guys (and Gals), it's been too long since I was active around these parts.... Anyway I saw this thread and immediately thought of one of many dumb things I did growing up.... When I was 16 I was given a 1969 442 Olds by an uncle of mine. The car was a project that he had built for his wife before they got divorced and it had been sitting for a couple of years when he gave it to me. A rat had made a nest in the carb and intake plenum so before I could get it running again I had to take the carb apart and clean everything out. So I pulled the carb out (one of those huge 950 double pumpers). So being an industrious kid with a classic muscle car I wanted to drive I tore the carb apart and soaked all of the parts in a coffee can with gas in it in the garage while I took the intake manifold off to clean and check that the rats had not deposited turds down into the engine..... After I got the intake manifold all cleaned up and put back down with a new gasket I started putting my carb back together with a re-build kit. I finished putting it back together and was all proud of myself when I realized...."What do I do with the left over gas in the coffee can?" So I thought to myself "If I dump it on the grass and burn a hole in it Dad's gonna kick my ass"....So then option 2 came to mind "Just dump it in the toilet and flush it a few times; no worries"..... Well I went into the house and saw that my brother had a few friends over and they had just come in the house after experimenting with some cannibis out back .....I walked into the bathroom, deposited the gas in the coffee can, flushed the toilet three times and went back out to the garage.... About 5 minutes later I heard screaming coming from the house, so I ran from the garage and into the house to discover that my brother had gone in to take a dump and when he sat down he had lit a cigarette with a match and then thrown the match into the toilet Yup, you guessed it, when that lit match hit those fumes :bomb: It singed all the hair off of his private parts and more! He came after me like a demon and when him and his two buddies finally pinned me I told him "you lay one finger on me and I'll tell dad you were playing Cheech and Chong with your friends out back while they were gone" He never did get even with me for that and his girlfriend never spoke to me again but I still remind him that "Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy Had no Hair" from time to time

2 SD Motorcycle Dealers Fined For Illegal Kits GP Motorcycles, Mota Forza Fined For Illegal Conversions POSTED: 2:39 pm PDT August 31, 2009 UPDATED: 2:40 pm PDT August 31, 2009 SAN DIEGO -- Two San Diego-area motorcycle dealers were fined a combined $180,000 from the California Air Resources Board for selling dozens of off-road motorcycles illegally converted into what they called street-legal models, the regulatory agency announced Monday. GP Motorcycles of San Diego and Moto Forza of Escondido will each pay $90,000 in fines , according to CARB. CARB investigators following up on a tip received in 2006 confirmed that GP Motorcycles and Moto Forza were selling Husqvarna off-road motorcycles illegally converted to street-legal models. According to the CARB, many of the bikes were outfitted with so-called "street legal" kits, which are illegal in California. "Companies that deliberately flout the law are often assessed higher penalties," said Mary Nichols, who heads the CARB board. "Playing by the rules from the start is the most cost-effective, smart business plan any company can follow." The CARB revoked the registrations for the motorcycles. The owners were told to turn in their license plates and get off-road stickers and plates. California bans a number of motorcycles and scooters that are street-legal in other states. I hope it does not put them completely out of buisness, GP has been good to me.

    Help out a newb

Learn everything you can about your bike, learn from riders who are better than you.... and learn that stupid hurts and then as you grow more confident and gain skills and insticts you need to beat it into your head to not to forget that stupid really does "F'in" hurt Ride within your skill limits and don't try to impress anyone but yourself

    Street Survival

Excellent advice Carguy! I just did the ERC on Thursday , compliments of the USN over at Naval Air Station North Island. It was a great refresher and I did really well on the VMax , I commute every day and I still walked away from the ERC with some tools I know I will use . The range on base at North Island is open 24/7 when they are not conducting a class as per the orders from the base Commanding Officer and the base Command Master Chief. I am willing to help out SDAR with setting up and assisting with the promotion of safe and educated riding. I can get access to the rider coach and Instructor lessons plans for conducting the controlled practices and exercises for those who may be interested in improving or refreshing skill sets. Practicing on the range is great for low speed, control fundementals and situational reactionary training. I would be willing to set up a small group of riders for a meet up and escort them onto the base so that we can practice on the closed range on a Saturday or a Sunday. If you might be interested just shoot me a PM and we can work something out.

    Happy B-Day Zenosan!

"When mortals are alive, they worry about death. When they're full, they worry about hunger. Theirs is the Great Uncertainty. But sages don't consider the past. And they don't worry about the future. Nor do they cling to the present. And from moment to moment they follow the Way " belated happy birthday Don, wish you many more Aaron

    Commutard

Jaynen; with the oversized rotor your calipers are working a bit harder, your stock brake lines will flex more due to the increased need for pressure and if you are really tearing it up in the twisties they will warm up allot and give you the mushy feeling on the lever. One of the first things I do to my bikes is to put Galfer braided lines on the front and rear. They make a huge difference and they are not that expensive, usually around $50-$65 but you can find them cheaper online. Cycle gear usually has them in stock for Japanese bikes too. 20. I got this from Rachel in a cool card she made up and it made me laugh so I thought I'd share it. Gee I wonder where she gets her sense of humor
  21. If anyone is interested in a mild, easy paced cruise on some pavement today I will be riding up to Julian for brunch with my wife Felicia on the VMax, we will probably leave the house around 9:30-10. We will stop at Packard's Coffee shop on Main St. in Ramona for a cup of Joe and meet up with anyone who wants to ride and then proceed up the hill for some food. After that I was thinking of taking Sunrise to old HWY 80, to Buckman Springs and then loop around on the 94 from there back towards El Cajon for the return trip.

RIDE TO WORK DAY is Monday JUNE 15th

I only saw three other bikes on the way in to work today on the VMax, I thought I'd see more than that. Seems like some bike riders are like some gun owners, they like what the NRA and AMA do to protect thier rights to own firearms and ride motorcycles but they don't support either organization in things like this. They are also usually the first people to "pitch a bitch" the loudest when their rights get encroached on and then have the nerve to ask "Why" and not think about how they've enjoyed the benefits of others hard work. Sorry, rant off .....
  25. I had too much fun on Sat night so I slept in till 12ish......I need to catch up on some rides with you soon. So how was it?
