tlking6- I've been looking out that way for some dual-sport routes. Looking at maps and talking to rangers at hungry valley it sounds like there are days of riding up in that area. One a these days... tlking6- yep, that's the one. I'm looking to make a 2 day hike out of it one of these days. That would be a great ride! I have a serious urge to do as many trails as i can squeeze in because i know it's only a matter of time before I'll have to pay biiig money to ride if the public keeps putting up with the governments abuse of Agenda 21 and slowly makes it government motors access only.

PbdBlue- hahahaha, that's exactly why I want to find one that isn't in guide books. TrophyHunter- Nope, i'm looking for an unspoiled all natural in between some boulders kind of spring. the best one i've found is up past LA and its an 8 mile hike to get to after a 15 mile drive down a dirt road but that means it's not a hot dog show to go to. zancat- how cool would that be to find on a full moon night hunt!

I ran across the account by searching Google images trying to find a route... Does this "phantom trail" spit you out onto the south west end of canyon road off the s2?

Slaugo - Nope, it's a 5 speed. Converted it last night and rode in to work today to try out the 14T X 43T gearing. 1st gear is really nice but she's screaming by 70 mph. What kind of tarmac speeds are you hoping to sustain on this ride? I can slap the 15 or 16T up front if we're looking to go above 70 mph. Are we still in need of a tow line, if so what works best, I'll try to track something down.

Slaugo- wheels 21f 18b, front finder, gearing- going to try out the 14x43, I run 16X38 w/ the 17" wheels on the street.

Sounds like you know your way around OW that's good cus I've only been out to the usual spots, the ridge ride looks awesome, I haven't done the border fence ether, looking foreword to that. kato - "the s2 to canyon sin nombre /diablo drop off way (then fish creek and split mountain straight to ow)"looks like a good option. know how many miles it is? would fuel be an issue out at OW?
