Easy dual sport/adv ride, Warner springs to Anza or beyond
97xr400r replied to Pokey151's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
Thanks for posting up 151. I'm on a second shift also, early mornings on the weekend are a beeotch. Monday morning for the weekend recovery π΄ I'll be riding up to Idyllwild via the same general route. Trying to get to Idyllwild around noon for a randevu in the pines with conquistador de ATK. It'd be great to meet up with some new faces. Hope to join in for some of this. Gotta see this T7 and the legendary HP2 , hope to get the ol 950se out. Giants of Erzberg Rodeo meetup Udo, yes, I didn't know you had one!π -
Yamaha Super Tenere 700
97xr400r replied to Mikey777's topic in Info About Motorcycle Brands & Models
Apparently you can pull 40 lb off the bike pretty easy, that seems really significant. Getting it to the 400lb mark has me suddenly interested in riding one... Could it be, my 950ser meets africa twin? I'm sure it's not at brutal as the super enduro but maybe it's not as doughy as I first thought π -

Free Android Apps for smart phone mileage tracking

This is a very simple app I've used from time to time. It's a dash with heading and miles per hour along with mileage tracking capabilities very simple to use. -

Hummm, dimensionally the metzler's have larger gaps compared to the 606, definitely more aggressive tread pattern. Other than that though, it's been a while since I've run a 606 so it's hard for me to compare them... All three are round made of rubber and grippy off the road? Pfaff π₯΄ π€¦ As Mimi points out, seems that the DOT selection is mint these days... Maybe to good?...

-Good point Dame, that is easy to overlook, thanks for pointing it out. That DOT rating is comforting to have. It's unfortunate that it comes with a price increase. -I've had great luck with the DOT Metzler MC360 mid soft and mid hard tires available locally at 8ball. It's a tough tire w/ ego not eco knobs at a good price point. -Robert, yeah! I was kinda shocked when I realized all those images of riders shredding Dakar dunage are on mini knobsπ― made me want to try and ride dunes on the metz... It worked and I had a blast but all the locals are telling me a paddle is the π© Seems that with most setups on ds bikes it comes down to the ride at hand. If I was planning on riding lots of highway legal areas I'd def prefer a DOT. If I was riding mostly sand I'd want big ass knobs... Next volunteer at $45 π¬ excited muleπ

Great idea, thanks for posting. Will have to see how the weather affects timing, I'd love to join for some of this. Congrats on the new bikeπ Recently made a couple runs out to Picacho area looking for a fun way to connect the southern portion of cabdr to Holtville. I can send you some track recordings if interested. I just stopped in at Walters camp, it's quite the outpost. Before 4pm 91 is available along with beer, water and Spam... What more could you needπ

1-19-21 Headed back to holtville via Indian pass and a passage through the dunes. Plan to make it back to holtville before sundown. I'll check in once back.πππ

Didn't make it that far south unfortunately. I've been meaning to make it over there. Made it back to the truck, just starting to sprinkle. π

I'd highly recommend a latex-based sealants (Stans or Orange seal) over slime, It works surprisingly well, I use it on my bicycles. I picked up a used moto a few years ago and the front wheel apparently had had a leak with slime... Turns out that stuff is corrosive to aluminum. It was originally formulated for low RPM steel wheels on tractor equipment.

Haha, yeah you caught me π playing Dakar... And still scouting that ocean to river / cabdr route for small bikes. I'd really like to include a route through the interior of the algodone dunes. Camp out in the middle of them maybe? -
