Better late than never...It's been a year now. This was the first camp trip off the SE. General plan was to work my way to Tecopa via trails shown on California trail map avoiding pavement as time and provisions allowed. It turned out to be a great ride with awesome weather. Just shy of 800 Miles with a section of the cabdr out of Tecopa. Narrowly missed that nasty storm that Dan and LB got caught up in. Memorable highlights: Numb hands going through big bear Uncomfortably steep loose single track Trophy truck sized whoop section Speedrun on dry lake bed Sand dunes at sunset Hot spring at sunrise Surprise Joshua tree Forest Bumping into a friend of a friend in the middle of the desert Getting stuck in the bottom of a narrowing wash Overwhelming fragrance of desert lilies And of course it wouldn't be an adventure ride without the abandoned vehicle photo op! I'd like to get a ride of this nature together this year... Maybe make our way to Kernville to say hi to the big trees?

Waited a few weeks for the controller, Thork was proactive and informative on the back order information. Found a used Samsung tab A on eBay. Tablet is not ruggedized but I bought a decent case for it. At that price point if I get a couple seasons out of it I'll be happy. Ruggedized devices are available but I'm trying to be thrifty and software starts getting old and clunky after a couple years anyways. So I ended up getting that Bluetooth controller for use with locus map. The controller is backordered but the wait was worth it. This thing is a step change for wandering around with california trail maps overlaid on satellite imagery, amazing really. Running on a $50 tab. Also have been messing around with the DMD2 app, it's a very functional app for speed and trip. Turns out the guy developing this software also created the AJP dash. He is very active in addressing issues and is open to ideas. Dmd2 is great and rapidly improving. Garmin=🦕🦖

Just wanted to let you big bike guys know that chaparral has the best deal I've ever seen on the 908 rally raid tire available in 140 and 150 18. The front 21 is on sale also. I've wanted to run this tire for years but couldn't justify the $200 plus price tag. I'm not sure why the tire is so cheap but I have to guess that they must be getting a bit older to be letting them out at that price. I'm currently running the motoz rallz 140 on the 950se, this 908 will be the replacement.

Sooo I smashed my 8gallon Safari tank on a log... a 3 x .125 split opened up and made a mess. The price on this tank is horrendous so it's got me considering a professional repair. Does anyone know someone local that uses a hot nitrogen torch for plastics repair? Quick steel got me home but it's a leaker.

It's funny, I get the impression that the general public views our bikes as hideous, and I get it, a bunch of jumbled lines and shapes going in all directions, and that windscreen, so not cool. Just gunna strap on some goofy space boots and throw it around in the dirt anyways...The uglier the better! 🤪
