    Collision With Deer

    I caught that too...
  3. thinking about it. Working Sunday's really sucks because I can't always get the day off when I want it. Day trip maybe?
  4. Trophy eluded to it, but in case you guys didn't catch it, you can run a vin on the public DMV site to find out what the back fees and penalties are before you buy the bike/car/whatever.

    Collision With Deer

RIP fellow rider. I tagged a deer (while driving my Yukon) on highway 67 a couple months back and I see them all the time along Highland Valley Rd. when driving to work in the morning, so we should always keep it in the back of our minds as another reminder to be vigilant. Ride safe everyone!!
  6. I've been a cop for almost 15 years. Here is how I view it from the seat of a patrol car: Is there a specific law that outlaws lane splitting...No Is there sections of the California vehicle code that can be used to cite someone for lane splitting...Yes, under certain circumstances. If you are being unsafe, you can get pulled over and cited. As a side note, I recently tried to pull over a guy on a sport bike for speeding. As soon as I got close to him, he hit a switch and his license plate folded up so I couldn't read. He pulled into the bike lane and pinned it. Within seconds he was pulling away from me doing about 100 mph in the bike lane in heavy traffic...I watched him dissapear into the distance. If they want to get away, they can.
  7. ss... you're saying the KTM 950 and 990 riders don't need to move over quite yet? I'm saying this could very possibly go the way of the 660 Tenere, another cool bike we don't get. http://www.yamaha-motor.eu/eu/products/motorcycles/adventure/xt660z.aspx#gallery=image|image=http://cdn.yamaha-motor.eu/product_assets/2014/XTZ660/2014-Yamaha-XT660Z-Tenere-EU-Yamaha-Blue-Studio-002.jpg?width=950&quality=75 or the street legal 450F Vacman is probably right, the bike will get launched in Europe and we'll be out of luck...again!!! But, this thread is one of the more entertaining on the site, so let's keep it going
  8. ...Don't get me wrong, this is a great victory for us!! But the CBD just annouced they will be appealing the decision so the fight is not over. With that said, last Sunday, members of the duning community came together last weekend with the blessing of the BLM, and removed the closure stakes that deliniated the closed areas... :-)

    Insurance

Good info, thanks for taking the time to share this.
  10. It is! Only a portion of it was closed in 2000 because of the original lawsuit filed by the CBD. It was consider a "temporary" closure. It took lawsuits filed by the ASA and other orginzations to fight it and ultimately get to this point. NOT all of the "temporary" closures were reopened. We gave up some ground to get to this point. I was heavily involved in the ASA several years ago, have been going to Glamis for almost 30 years, and am quite familiar with the details of this mess.
  11. Wow, this is enticing...I'm officially lurking

    Meat and beer

I have rode with you , thought you would of wheeled over the that stick and kept going. LOL. I know it doesn't look like much, but even for a fool like me it was a little much to bunny hop the 950 over. How's Colorado?
  13. I thought about that. But on the way out I came across a US Forest Service Firefighter who was posted up on Boulder Creek in a brush rig because of the Santa Ana winds and i told him about it. Hopefully it gets passed on to the right people.

I rode Boulder Creek southbound from Ramona today, intending on getting to Pine Valley, and ran into this... I couldn't get around it on my 950 because of a 4' uphill embankment on the right, and a significant downhill embankment on the left. That was at about noon today so it may still be there tomorrow....Just FYI!
  15. Was running part of this route today and came across this between Cedar Creek Falls trail and Three Sisters trail... I couldn't get around it on the 950 so I flipped a bitch and headed home...still had fun.
  16. That sucks! What wrong with the Zuk? I put down solo tracks. Started here, headed up SYTT, Santa Ysabel, Boulder Creek, and then ran into a problem on Cedar Creek Falls trail... My intent was to ride through Pine Valley, up to Laguna, Sunrise Hyway, backdown through Julian, to Ramona....But there was no way around this downed Oak...at least on a 950. Had I been on the 530, I would have just BRAAAAAPed right over it
  17. Ok, I've been riding the 530 a lot lately and the 950 is collecting dust. So, I'm heading out tomorrow on the twin screw from Ramona...no specific plan yet but was thinking local stuff to Santa Ysabelle, Boulder Creek south to Pine Valley, up to Sunrise or maybe south to Corral??? Thing? Fred Canyon? Slab? Wind and temps should be lower tomorrow. Leaving about 8, back by 2. Anyone interested in joining? Anyone else have a ride planned?
  18. I had a feeling you were going to say something like that because it looks like a difficult trail fix, unless you happen to have a mig welder. It should be an easy weld job though.
  19. Looks like a fun one. Yeti, I'm curious how you did a road side repair on your pipe??
