Big Bike/N00b ride Sunday May 18
Oracle replied to bikeslut's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
There is just something wrong with that, considering your arsenal. I'd love to ride guys, in fact, this is the first Sunday I have had off in months but I'm stuck watching the kids while my wife goes to a horse show... -
Lake Isabella to Jawbone.

Yup. I was so fast, I had trouble keeping up. I hate when that happens. -

Cool ride, did you do it solo? -

I enjoyed the write up and pics, thanks for sharing. That really sucks about closing down the Grand Canyon trail. -
I think it depends on how mechanical your friend is. If he can do most of the rebuild himself, he has the time and inclination to do it, and he picks up the bike and part for $500, it might be possibly worth it for him.

I just got home from being on the front lines of the Poinsettia fire since 11:00 am this morning. It was quite intense for the first couple hours as the fire pushed west very quickly. Then the wind all but stopped, which gave first responders an opportunity to knock it down quite a bit. Then the wind turned on-shore and pushed the fire back east bound, which created a whole new set of problems as far as evacuating was concerned. I took some pics just don't have time to post them up right now. I'll be back out there at 0400 hours in the morning so I've got to get some shut eye. Of all the fires, the San Marcos fire will end up being the most significant when this is all said and done, mark me word

I can see it now. Coin operated outhouses! Well, we better have two...coin operated for American citizens and free ones for illegal immigrants so as to not offend them... -
It might be a two stroke, but I'd ride it....

Bummer, work sucks! But I'm sure you don't want to wear those new shoes out before you get to Arizona anyway. -

I need a ride, it's been a rough week. Ramona to Pine Valley and back. If it's cool enough, maybe drop down into the dez via Rodriguez. Or if someone wants to lead a south county ride, I'll blaze down there??? -

Game on. Our normal Ramona meeting spot is Packards Coffee at 680 Main street (Highway 78 and 7th street). There is gas across the street so you can top off. We'll go from there... Any other takers??? -
...maybe some chains and sprockets....

Ti tools would be super cool. Bead breaker, nah, that's what heels and kickstands are for...

Sounds fun, but alas, my boys have baseball games. But the season is almost over...one more week...then I'll be down for some Saturday rides. -

Well, the permit process is run by the BLM, so it would be on them. As far as Imperial County, they have been very supportive of duners, and of the ASA and other organizations that have spent tireless volunteer hours and money trying to get the dunes re-opened. Obviously keeping the dunes open, and having as many viositors as possible, is in the counties best interest. -
Not to mention the one that ran out right in front of you on the 950 in Julian! That's right. Very close call. If that deer would have hit my bike, I would have kicked his ass...

Old bike gonna fall off DMV records? Not so fast.....
Oracle replied to Czechsix's topic in Open Discussion
Well, to clarify, if you have a motorcycle in non-op status, you do NOT have to pay a fee every year. Yes, they do send you the registration renewal, but if the bike is still in non-op, then you do nothing...no fee, no paper work. I have 5 acres and I have a couple toys in non-op status because I only use them on my property.
