Oracle replied to Afry's topic in 4 Days & Longer Trip Write-Ups and Photos
Glad you made it home safe my friend and with good stories to tell. Sure wish I could have made the trip. I'm hoping next spring maybe I can pull off a 7 dayer. -

Aw, my backyard, I might have to head up there tonight and chill with an ICDB... -
Sucks. Unfortunately, there are a lot of criminals out there...and more to come as this prison realignement plan moves forward.

Wish I could help but I have a boy scout thing with my son all day. If you have access to the back yard that is at least 54" wide, you are welcome to borrow my tractor to make the job easy. I have a flat bed trailer too. All you need is a truck and to come get it. I'm 20 minutes from Lake Hodges up Highland Valley Rd. -
All good advise for sure, so no need for me to repeat any of it. So I'll point out the importance of proper tire pressure. Most noobs don't realize how important this is, especially for the front tire. Because we cover varied terrain, it's difficult to find the proper tire pressure for each ride. Personally, I set my tire pressure for the dirt portion of whatever ride I'm doing. I'd rather have lower tire pressure for the dirt area then higher pressure for the slab areas. The difference in handling is significant.

Should have met me for a ride today! You could have watched me struggle with my pinch flat.... I need more practice ...and who is always preaching to you to change your own tires so you can learn how to do it on the trail...??? -

I put in a time off request for that Sunday....I'm still waiting to see if it gets approved....so I'm still a maybe...man I hate working Sundays -
you know, it just won't be the same, but above all, we are "survivors"... we'll muddle along without you and make the best of the situation... it'll be tough, out there riding dirtbikes without you there, but we'll put on our big boy pants, and carry on we'll also have some sing alongs on the radio, make smores by the oak tree, and have a kegger You guys are the kind of friends that just keep on giving....give, give, give, never take. I feel better now, thanks BS.

----, I have to work...but go ahead and have fun without me....

Welcome aboard. Join a ride or set one up. As far the backside of Palomar (assuming you mean the north side), start on Palomar Divide trail and go from there. You can explore the north side in a half day or less. And before you ask, there is a locked gate separating the south side of Palomar (the Observatory) and the north side...so unfortunately you can not connect by going over the top of the mountain...
-
Well said DD. I concur 100%.

Maybe you have "Suzuki forearms"..... Although I've changed my bars and positions on mine. Risers help, especially when standing, so I went with those first. That's funny. I think I'll just get different bars and stick with the KTM though...
-
First thing I did when I set up each of my rides with rotating the bars forward. This help some, but they still suck. Sounds like we all have the same complaint too, which proves to me the ktm really sucks.
-
I've always hated the bend on my 530 and 950, both of which have the stock bars. This is something I've been meaning to address so I'd appreciate any feedback you have on the bend you went with.

Some serious cool bikes there, thanks for sharing the pics.

Anyone riding tomorrow, Monday, 05/19?
Oracle posted a topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
So I'm supposed to me in Chicago this week on vacation but I missed my flight because I got stuck working the fire storm last week. So now I have this entire week off with no plans...Anyone have ride plans for tomorrow that doesn't mind a tag along? I'm thinking big bikes because I still have the paddle tire on my 530...but if a cool small bike route was going on, I could swap it out pretty quick. -

BS, I have no agenda. But I'd be willing to slab over to Pine Valley and meet up with ya if you want to show me around Corral or ??? Definitely big bike for me now as I'm out of time, and inclination, to swap out my paddle today. I could leave Ramona around 8:30 and be in Pine Valley by 9:30 or so? TH, don't you have Monday's off?? -
I'm so jealous. I hope you guys have an incredible trip. Two year till retirement for me and then I'm on board.
