...and we could all bring guns and do target shooting inside your garage with blindfolds on....

I think you should have a garage party for all us twin riders. That way Bowers can enlighten all of us on, well, everything!

Background: 2008 KTM 530 EXCR. When I purchased the bike, it had the stock exhaust on it, but the original owner had cut it down substantially (he only used bike for supermoto) so that there was only one mounting tab left on the pipe, instead of the original two. I decided to purchase a slip on because the stock pipe was just toast. So the first after market slip on shows up but the two mounting brackets don't line up with the two mounting tabs on the bikes subframe. I double checked the part number on the pipe and it was meant for my bike. Thinking it was some weird problem, I sent the pipe back and got a refund. Then I purchase another slip on (different model) from another retailer. Before the purchase, I compared to model number against the FMF website and it was a match for my bike. But low and behold, when it arrives, the brackets and tabs don't line up again. So what the heck???

Can someone explain this...exhaust problem
Oracle replied to Oracle's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
So purchasing a new subframe was not in the budget. So I got all Macgyver.... I took some 1/8 plate metal stock and cut out and formed a bracket/tab that I bolted to the subframe. It's pretty solid and I'm happy with the outcome. -

Yeah, I might do something like that instead of buying a whole new subframe. -
Can someone explain this...exhaust problem
Oracle replied to Oracle's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
You are both right. I went on-line and looked at the OEM 530 subframe and it is different. This particular subframe does not have the 2nd exhaust mount, so obviously the subframe has been changed out on this bike. I'm guessing now that the original owner cut down the stock pipe because he had to mount a different subframe on the bike for some reason (bent original?). So, I guess I'm going have to find an OEM subframe. Thanks for the help -

Actually, spacers wouldn't be a bad idea if the damn hole lined up. I guess my real question is there a part missing from the OEM setup that I don't know about?? -

As you can see, the tabs don't line up on either plane. What am I missing?? -

Yeah, I was just messing with you Troy... Yeah, your pressure is way too high...again, IMO....others will disagree, and I get it...but... I run 10 psi back and 12 psi front in ABDSP, Ocotillo Wells, etc... Of course it increases your chance of pinch flats...handling is a higher priority to me though.

Yup, just a loop each day starting and ending at the campground. I'm confident you'll find someone, or a group, to ride with. You might want to give a little input here as to your riding ability/skill level. Someone will answer up that fits a similar profile. -
They are also planning on making Santa Ysabelle Truck Trail part of the Coast to Crest trail....that scares me...

I'm glad to read that you took the time to do this. It always amazes me how many people buy a brand new bike and never touch the suspension settings. Now, start messing with tire pressure the same way. Most people, at least IMO, run their tire pressure way too high. Small adjustments can make a big difference...especially in certain types of terrain...like sand, mud, and loose soil, etc. Just make sure you know how to change a tube. And BTW, why the heck didn't you switch over to reserve to make it back to your truck??

I heard the 1st place prize is a suspension upgrade from Pro-Prept....

Just slightly AWESOME!

The only route to Henshaw would be Black Mnt. rd. to Mesa Grande (paved). All those dirt roads off of Black Mountain Rd. you are looking at on Google Earth are private property. And before you ask, at the top of Lusardi, you hit private property too...so no way down to 76 from there.

I know the Ramona area well, and have spent countless hours on Google Earth, as many of us have, but have not been able to find an open dirt connections between Esco and the area off Pamo Rd. If you find any, please sure to let us know.
